I watched this live when I was a missionary, serving in California in 1985. My favorite testimony or "talk" of all time. It is absolutely jam packed with testimony and scripture. It goes hand in hand with his hymn that Elder McConkie wrote titled "I believe in Christ". So powerful!
This talk stirred my soul to depths that I had never before known. I was still in my 20's when it was given in 1985, yet this general conference talk sent the Atonement "through" me. This talk by Elder McKonkie gave me a very strong foundational knowledge of and love for the Atonement. I am so grateful for the experience of "feeling" the Atonement as if I were there that day and every time I listen to it again.
I heard this talk for the first time while serving a mission in Arcadia, California. I heard it through a Spanish interpreter, but it was just as powerful and the Spirit of God was just as strong. This is the most powerful modern witness of Jesus Christ of which I am aware, and I thank Heavenly Father every day that I was there to see Elder McConkie bear this, his last General Conference talk/testimony live. He was and is a spiritual giant. Oh that all of us would gain such a testimony. I loved Elder McConkie, and I love the Lord of whom he spoke. Less than two weeks after sharing this testimony Elder McConkie would pass through the veil from mortality to the Spirit World, and I am sure that he fulfilled his words to feel the nail marks in the hands and the feet of the Savior and wet his feet with his tears.
GCCM. President Hillam taught this to us. Until now I can still feel the Spirit we felt that zone conference. Jesus Christ Atonement. He loves me. He loves us!
Wasn’t this his last talk? Because he says in the coming days I shall feel the marks in his hands and his feet and wet his feet with my tears if so what a powerful powerful message. Wow
