Is the framerate stable once unlocked?

@@WllKiedSnake I’m no expert but it looked fine to me. Camera angles are mostly fixed so it’s just character movement that’s in play. The problems I saw were texture loads lagging by half a second occasionally. Quick tut: Start game, about 10 minutes in you’re on a ship, you leave a room and unlock your friends room. Go into his room after he has left and pick up the note on the table. Framerate is now unlocked. Now - save that game and start a fresh new game Save a new save file for this game. The framerate will be unlocked as long as you’re in the game, if you reboot you’ll need to load the old save, pick up the note again (which will unlock the framerate), go back to menu and load up your normal save game. Boom, 60fps.

these is the standard with PC ports these days, terrible decisions ruining otherwise an enjoyable experience. also games are shipping with bloatware on PC which it should be illegal.

I'm curious to see how the One X version does against the Series S. If I have to guess I'd say that the One X version runs at a higher resolution while the Series S has better lighting and more in the way of post processing. I'm sure the Series S loads much faster too. But, in a lot of cases I would take the higher resolution (especially when dipping below 1080p) over fancier lighting and higher ambient occlusion. As for the bs $10 premium, I'm doubly against it when a game is cross-gen. No extra innovation. Just prettier and loads faster. This isn't a Shadow of Mordor situation where the previous gen loses a feature like the nemesis system. Heck, they can't even fall back on (limited) raytracing. I'll wait for a deep sale.

THIS!! I paid extra for the version that comes with the current and last gen versions and...I can't see much difference (if any). Already beat the Xbox Series X version. Currently playing it on Xbox One X (for the Achievements!)

Well clearly last gen can’t achieve the same graphical prowess so no ray tracing or god rays much worse Shadows way worse skin textures last gen has been pushed to the max

@@phattjohnson High quality animation isn't so resource heavy. Remember "beyond two souls" and "the last of us" on ps3? Of course this is better, but nota hundred times more detailed or complex.

It's official now that consoles are holding back the development of cutting-edge games. Every title now needs to have a mode where it will run on 8+ year old crappy console hardware.

@@jack_knife-1478 yes... It's ok now... The patch that was released last week added online play and the deluxe content(80 costumes) that was missing at launch, and also fixed the godray fx alongside some crashes when using the new "death rewind" feature... It's all fine now.

@@1984rockabilly that’s dependent on a game by game basis honestly. I have both and I can honestly say that there are games on my ps5 that look much better than forza halo and gears. By spec, the Xbox is slightly better but actual visuals isn’t all specs. It’s dependent on the game developers and how well they optimize games and PlayStations studios do a much better job at it, even with slightly weaker hardware. So I’d say the ps5 actually has better visuals

@@zainmalik9666 I also have both consoles. Gears 5 runs at dynamic 4k and 60fps. The good PS5 exclusives all have only 30fps. Forza Horizon 5 and Flight Simulator outperform every PS5 game graphically.

That is just a demo version. You can play the start but then you'd need to pay for the full game.

But yeah, like I said, game looks stunning still on the S, you can see all the improvements from earlier games like Man of Medan or Little Hope. Can't wait for The Devil in Me, my GF and I love Supermassive games, we had a Switch since 2019 and last year we bought the Series S, it's a great console and we're really happy with it, even more taking into account that in our country the S is 400 dollars and the X and PS5 are like 900 dollars or more, so is not a really difficult choice. The Series S really is a godsend for countries with trashy economies.

@@braedonlock3359 You're technically right but he means RELATIVELY. Meaning compared to the premium consoles and PC version, the settings are lowered because the developers don't make the game in lower quality form and then up the settings for more powerful hardware but the opposite; or in other words, cutbacks to the vision that they originally created. Like for example an original cartoony switch game does not have cutbacks but when they port a game like The Witcher 3 on Switch, that's a highly compromised version, Series S is kind of like that in a lot of more demanding games.

Neither look good to me as I think the console settings are far too jagged and ultra is way too sharp like many older games. They should of had a form on PCSS or something to really soften the shadow edges. Weirdly to say I’ve seen plenty of games have far better shadows like genshin impact on PC which is strange or a more realistic comparison RDR2

Yeah I agree. Ultra shadows shouldn’t simply get sharper edges. They should feather out softly, just with less jaggies as the quality goes up. I’ve had this issue with game shadow settings since the mid 2000’s when looking at PC versions running them at ultra settings. Obviously, RT shadows fixes this in one step, but there are plenty of ways to make the shadows look more natural without resorting to RT.

Shadows weren't even casting onto the characters also on console in certain scenes.

it really depends on the implementation of it if you are outside and there's a light source yes shadows should look defused but if you are in a well lit room that's somewhat small the shadows should be more defined and sharper remember it all depends on specific locations

@@blazer4185 Correct. Usually tree branches and power lines do not make razor sharp shadows on the ground and walls of houses lol. Those are the main kinds that really stand out. The distance of the subject from the surface as well as the distance of the subject and light source play a huge role in the makeup of shadows.

@@helloguy8934 It definitely has native HDR on Series X. It even has a Dolby Vision For Gaming Mode. I even made sure auto HDR was disabled because I suspected that. And again, I said before that it was too dark even in SDR. I even watched other playthroughs that had the same issues in SDR.

I agree they seem much worse than a lot of AAA games, the faces don't hold a candle to God of War or Naughty Dog (I know this probably has a more modest budget than many, but still probably decent). Maybe I'm misremembering but I actually feel like these look more awkward than Until Dawn's faces

It's definitely a bug when factoring the Series S even has it, the PS5 should had easily gotten the mentioned missing feature. The PS5 has been on par with XSX in term of power narrative since the start of this generation.

Hmm. I didn't enjoy the first two Dark Pictures anywhere near as much as Until Dawn and I skipped the third one. The Quarry is better but it has even less interactive moments than the older games (maybe they cut that back for Stadia in case of lag?). In some respects, aside from seeing different choices play out, it's almost the perfect YT let's play watch candidate.

Question is are you sure the consoles are using 100% of its hardware power on this game? All I see here is medium shadows + DRS and capped FPS. Nowhere it states that the consoles is stressed enough to run this game at 30fps, maybe unlocked fps and native 4k will stress both ps5/series x.

Lol it's not, gpus can push more, but the devs cap these games to the lowest so it can run on any hardware, example, the ray tracing capabilities on consoles are shit, but modded games on PC shows how much gpu can push. Logically, hi end gpus weren't the benchmark. Consoles today are awesome for the price tho.

Yeah I've noticed that too. PS5 was better in most 2021 games. Xbox is better in most 2022. Probably just developers getting accustomed to the new xbox devkits or Microsoft ironing out issues with them. Or both.

What do you guys expect? Photo realistic perfection with 0 glitches? Even then people wouldn't be satisfied. Expectations are always beyond the limits of reality.

@@braedonlock3359 I don’t really see the gap to be honest. It’s the same thing that biased fanboys hyping minor differences. In F1 22 both systems have the same stable 60 fps and 4K. Ps5 had this minor issue with RT (which might be is just a bug), Xbox SX had this very minor tearing in 120 fps mode - could also be improved with a patch. The Quarry runs with a slightly higher res on SX, won’t be visible on a regular size 4K tv (55 or 65 inches). Ps5 had the missing god rays that were added in a recent patch. For fanboys it’s a crazy hype about differences that are not really there. The last one with a really noticeable difference was the Skywalker saga. SX version is simply better as ps5. It’s sometimes fun with the console war, I’m also in sometimes, especially on Twitter 😄 but if we are honest there are no crazy differences between those systems.

I would reckon probably not. They do touch upon it briefly in this vid though. No real stark difference between them graphically except for shadows. PC version runs unlocked and has a stutter issue with the 2k launcher that is easily fixed. Probably not something to waste a video on.

Probably those hiccups are fixed on PS5 and like I said is just for 1 o 2 scenes (like the scene of the car) and the "resolution advantage" is for 1 or 2 scenes. There is no winner here, nobody wins when a developer can't do their proper optimization for a game...

Sure it’s got a few visual improvements, but overall it’s the same video game across all machines, no matter if it’s an RTX 3090 or an original Xbox one. No need to worry too much with a game like this. It’s like DVD vs Blu Ray, one option clearly looks better but it’s not going to impair your experience.
