10 years later she has recently reached her Platinum Jubilee and she is still just as loved🥰❤️.

Well speaking for myself here I think what she is great at is influencing people towards peace,reform,unity and greater freedom something you can do by being in a powerful position.There are those who have power and influence and choose not to use it to benefit others.Instead she has worked tirelessly for our country since a young age starting out as an ambulance driver during the second world war.Her patriotic stance and courageous leadership has made our country better in my opinion

Not a Brit. Not a believer in Imperial Rule or the historic crusading of Europeans all over the globe...but, that being said, I find it fascinating to experience the grandeur and tradition the Royals of Britain represent. Say what you will, but the Queen took the hand that was dealt her and managed to continue the monarchy through the most turbulence of the last 60 years, and for that she should be commended. She lives well, but she also works hard, and she didn't have to. God Bless Her Majesty!

She's only the third monarch in British history to reach the 60th mark. King George III, Queen Victoria and Elizabeth II. Victoria is the present record holder. The longest ruling British monarch is Victoria(1837--1901)but,God willing,Elizabeth will tie and then surpass her record in 2016. What a grand old lady. God bless the Queen!!

Buckingham Palace was bombed 7 times. One bombing raid dropped bombs on the Palace in 1940 while the King and Queen were in residence,blowing out many windows and destroying the Chapel(There are photos). The then Queen Elizabeth(later the Queen Mum)is quoted as saying" I'm glad we have been bombed. Now I can look the East End in the face". The East End had been repeated bombed. After the bombing the King & Queen visited the East End and the residents cheered them and sang " God Save The King."

Being quite wealthy,the queen does not need the taxpayer's money and her lifestyle is no more luxuriously than that of any rich person. What she does recieve from public funds is what any head of state(such as Obama)receives as part of the job. It's a very demanding job involving numerious ceremonial,symbolic duties of the sort performed in any society. Her's is a life lived in a goldfish bowl--a life of rectitude--a life which in spite of her status has little actual power. God Save Her.

She has sacrificed her life and freedom for her country. She has given all from young womanhood to old age. In fact,when it comes to her own life the Queen has less freedom than you have. There is greatness in that sort of sacrifice.

Although,I'm an American I have been to Britain and I have studied it's history and culture. I respect the Queen and the people she serve(Yes,she's the servant). You have less respect for the British than did the Germans--who called them "a nation of shopkeepers". A people who once ruled a quarter of the globe,gave us Parliament, english common law,my own country and,by the way kicked the asses of both Napoleon and Hitler are not peasants--anything but.

actually although they may cost 10.5 million that's about 66p a year from your income and they generate an average of 176 million pounds a year which goes into the country through tourism alone. also even if we got rid of them they would still have huge personal wealth and wouldn't generate any money for the country so is it really worth getting rid of them??

Actually your hatred shows that you are the one who is consumed by her. The rest of us mostly can take her or leave her. We like her but we understand that she is a symbolic figure in the british constitutional system performing a pivotal,but powerless role in that system. Lighten up crazy. She is not responsible for whatever it is that is clearly wrong with you. Stop listening to those voices in your head which are saying" the Queen did it".

Prince Phillip looked like he was having quite the ball. Cheers to both him and the Queen, especially for standing the whole time! I would have sat down two hours in! They put everyone else to shame.

Kate matches the upholstery and liveried staff today. Do you think it was a royal command? But I don't get HM's black shoes/bag in June, or wearing all-white with these skies. Surely this was the day to bring out the fuschia/chartreuse/yellow/aqua/etc. Those ladies-in-waiting were off their game today. Still, at least she wore a hat under which her face can be seen. I'm so tired of those Cat-in-the-Hat and cake-on-a-wide-plate numbers.

Actually,she seems to work rather hard and has done so since the second world war when she, her father King George VI,her mother Elizabeth,the Queen Mum and her sister Princess Margaret stayed in London as the Nazis bombed the city,living in that giant target Buckingham Palace. She lives a life that no sensible person would want because she can never relax,always under the public eye. Even with her wealth I'd find that life stifling. I'm free. She isn't. But,she does her duty. God bless her.

That's not real power. Under certain circumstances the monarch has a role to play which is mostly symbolic. The Queen has much symbolic and technical power which isn't real such as the fact that the Monarch can legally veto any act passed by Parliament,but this is a technical power which no British monarch would dare exercise for fear of percipitating a constitutional crisis which would end the Monarchy. You should know more about this than I, an American. And oh God,not the bankers again.

Apply for welfare like they do in America, At least the royal family earn their keep. She never sees a pound of what the tax payers give. The Government controls her allowance. If you have a problem send em a letter, I'm sure they care what you think...

No,to say delegate implies a choice. The Monarchy declined all throughout the 17th and 18th century..the English Civil War,the Glorious Revolution,etc. The truth is the Monarch hasn't had any real power since before the Regency era. Since then any delegation of power has been by force because the Queen would not dare refuse to delegate her power.

That would be the same with anyone with some sort of fame. And i would happily walk about waving my hand to get the amount of money and power and wealth that she does for nothing. She probably has more freedom than you without having to go to a boring mundane 9-5 job to slave away so you can afford to eat, pay your mortgage, and just simply survive.

I understand why you envy the Queen(I don't)because you consider yourself a slave,a victim,a person with no control of your life. I am not rich. I struggle through life. I work. I educate myself. I struggle. But,I am master of my fate. But,not the Queen. She was born into a life of narrow expectations. Don't do this. Don't do that. Go here. Go there. And don't let them see you're tire or hurt or unhappy. Why? Because it's your duty. No amount of money is worth that kind of life.

The queen has no political power Aidan she is just our head of state so has no say in how the country is run which is a matter for our elected representatives in the house of commons. But what a head of state she is:-) Who better than our own queen to represent us internationally?She is a figure admired, respected and known by people all over the world so much better in my opinion than any elected and therefore 'political' representative :-)

Let me get this straight... Camilla shows up with an umbrella and HMQ ELIZABETH and rest of RF without one. Everyone else is getting wet. If the Queen is not afraid of some rain drops on her outfit... Are you sure you are english? How is it that I an american seem to know more about your system than you do? Your Queen is the Head of State which is why all sorts of government institutions are named after your monarch. But the real power--the power of government belongs to the Parliament and its leader the Prime Minister. The Queen does not send the Royal Navy into battle. The Prime Minister does. She reigns,but the Prime Minister and Parliament rules.

What class system? The British Aristocracy and the Monarchy is powerless. When was the last time anyone listened to anything coming out of the House of Lords and when was the last time a Monarch stood before the Commons parroting not the Prime Minister's program for the country,but actually putting forth his or her own? Maybe back when the future headless Charles I was King or back before James II fled to France in 1688 or George III went mad. Forget the Monarchy and worry about Parliament.
