It's a very nice boat. However, it's evident that it sucks on high speed turns. I modified mine by adding bilge keels to stabilize the boat during high speed turns and it worked. Here's a vid of it at high speed. RC Boating
great review man I been looking into getting my first boat was going to go with a racer until I came across the Thunder Tiger Atlantic Motor Yacht,it look's awesome and look's like it performs awesome as well, great vid bud!
It definately is great. Even after running several race boats they are fun but there are a couple things that make this always a great time. Number one it has a submerged prop not a surface prop so it keeps its power in choppy water. It is a very deep v hull so it cuts through waves and chop awesome. The motor is plenty powerful and there are no overheating issues. You can get a nice thunder power 2700 mah lite lipo and have a lot of fun because the battery last a long time. I have upgraded my rudder servo to digital hi torque metal gear and have enjoyed the benefits of that as well. It truly is a great boat especially for $229 - tower coupons!!
I didn't get the controller with it, instead I got a Tamco TAC330 2.4ghz TX and some little blue chip thing that came with it, the only issue is that I have absolutely no idea on how to pair up the controller and the boat so I might just buy that controller instead.
It looks like there is a lot of "empty" space inside, one easy way to keep it afloat would to simply put some pieces of pool noodles in the bow and stern, or a long piece on each side from front to back.
Hi great filming! may i ask you a question? I bought the same boat , took it for its first spin yesterday. No water comes out from the tube of the watercooling! should it gush water or just drip? constantly or from time to time? i am afraid to take another go at it in case i burn the engine. Every tube is in its proper position and i cant seem to find where the problem is!!!
We have the same boat but do not have the antenna, is that something we should have? The boat ran fine but on the last run stopped working after a minute (it was not too far away)- thanks
hi look from what I can see in these type of water needs some wait up front a small bean sinker will work glued on Velcro strip also bulge keels work wounders this should help you mate
Ya that would be no problem. It will not run to its full potential on 2s so I would recommend one of these : www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Turnigy-3S-3-cell-11-1v-2200mah-2-2-Ah-lipo-battery-20-30C-w-XT60-XT-60-/221435820233?pt=Radio_Control_Parts_Accessories&hash=item338e9a78c9 Its super cheap and then you can get an xt60 to deans adapter for a couple bucks to make it work or else find one of these on ebay with a deans plug. These brands of batteries definately dont have the cycle life of something much higher priced but for the price its no big deal to replace them.
I read on an online review (www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2019063) that this boat does not have a reverse speed. Is that true or was it just for that one case - and if it is true, how to remedy the lack of reverse?
