Agreed. Stock in stores has really been suffering lately. I see very little new stuff that’s rare or more collectible come in. Especially stuff in good condition. You can go eBay but it’s a crapshoot. Disc can look perfect in the pic but it’s all scratched when you get it.
The super slim DOES look awful, but it has the smallest CPU and GPU die sizes for the platform which means the least amount of heat and is therefore the most energy efficient. I dove back into PS3 about a month or two ago and grabbed the 4301x model. Even some of the slim models will fail eventually (see: NVidia bumpgate). Kudos on your find; the PS3 era is just magical.
The PS3 FAT is more of a collectors item IMO, particularly the PS2 hardware back-compatible ones. I barely played mine over the years and never had an issue, but stopped a few years ago because was getting hot when I fired it up after years. I bought a slim. The biggest thing I noticed was how much faster games and screens loaded. A slim is a way better idea IMO.
I do agree, Slim is slicker and still powerful, I would add the fat just for show, but the Slim, as time goes by I am falling in love with this console. The games are fantastic.
PLAYSTATION 3 was a great era in video games really enjoyed your thoughts and formulation of this video, keep up the good honest views, an enjoyable watch for sure.
It's really cool that you have found the PS3 in this stage of your life. Back when it was released I had an 8 year old son and we began playing online for the first time and there is so much nostalgia to that machine that I have kept all of our game saves and all of our games over the years. I must have close to 100 PS3 games. I have a slim 320 GB and I have a fat e model PS3 which is emulated PS2 capable. I am having my Fat reballed and delided as we speak. I am keeping both consoles forever. As of recent I've been playing more PS2 and PS3 games than I even play on my PS5. I am bored to tears with the PS5 at this moment. You definitely need to get the first two MotorStorm games. And since you like killzone 2 so much you definitely need to pick up killzone 3. It is more fine-tuned than killzone 2. Both are great. Have fun on your PS3 journey. I
I am on a mission to find Motorstorm. got a copy of Pacific rift, but disc is broke. so the hunt continues. PS3 has brought so much joy, and it keeps giving with the bangers in the wild.
@@LikeYesterday-sv3kr damn, that sucks! I love both games but Pacific rift is the best of the three. I still play both games quite often. I think you will be missing out on all of the DLC though, which also sucks. I have recently been playing NBA jam on fire edition and a game called Pure which is an ATV racing game. It is a very good game. And I've been playing the Infamous games. Those are highly recommended!
I’m currently playing Watch Dogs 1. Games I’ve beaten in recent months are: Heavy Rain Beyond: Two Souls Jak and Daxter Sly Cooper 1 Tales of Xillia Resistance 1 Resident Evil 5 Pretty much been PS3 playing exclusively.
If you like stealth action like games, I really recommend Metal Gear Solid 4 and the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. Those games should be any PS3 collection if you would like the games or not.
Prices starting go up thats why i buy in last mont 350+ games for ps3. This year is last one with normal prices. Xbox 360 now is crazy and hard to find some games
If you like God Of War you going to like Dante's Inferno also. Same gameplay and it's awesome basically going through the nine circles of Hell: limbo, lust, gluttony, greed, anger, heresy, violence, fraud and treachery. Each circle features distinct environments, enemies and story elements befitting the sins committed by their inhabitants.
Definitely recommend getting a ps3 and your favorite games before the prices go up.. I hope the ps2 prices don’t get too crazy there is still a bunch I need to get
ive found cash crusaders is the best place to fill gaps in my PS3 collection. recently picked up Killzone 3 and Crysis 3 Hunters Edition for R160 there. sometimes bulk lots on marketplace can have luck but gamers selling their games seem to know a lot more about what their games are worth (although sometimes they over value their games too) whereas cash crusaders and sometimes cash converters do not. they also give you a warranty. as for games id recommend, Uncharted 2 is the best game in the series available on the PS3 in my opinion, Metal Gear 4 and metal gear rising are two very different from each other games but very fun, Call Of Duty Black Ops was my favourite of the COD games released in that generation thanks mostly to the story, Deus Ex Human Revolution was an amazing Cyberpunk RPG game, Deadpool the game was fun but also since its recently been delisted on stores its also become quite collectible, Enslaved Oddessy to The West is really great, azuras wrath and vanquish are really fun faced paced japanese beat em /shoot em ups and if you find the MGS legacy collection grab it because its like hens teeth and has all the metal gear games released up till that point in the collection. id be very keen to hear which second hand shops you recommend for collecting. take care
You have found the same troves as I, both stores selling PS3 and 2 for what i consider fair. Been picking up titles in great condition. PS2 gams are a bit hit and miss, but sometimes the games work fine. Where are you based?
@@LikeYesterday-sv3kr Edenvale. for me the PS3 and xbox 360 generation was the best as you had a lot of game trading or preplayed stores like BT games or Gamexchange operating from about 2007 to maybe about 2015 where you could pick up games second hand for a song. Bt is still around but they dont do the preplayed games or exchanges like they used to, and if you do find shops like pwned games or games 24/7 theyve pivoted to retro gaming and charge way more than stores like it used to back in the day.
I had a super slim but i just hate how it looks so i got a regular slim. PS4 pro still my favourite console tho. I also disagree with the remote topic. Are you using dual shock3 or sixaxis?
youre not wrong. but you can still luck out at some places like cash crusaders or charity shops or flea markets. marketplace and bobshop used to be the go to but theyre far too aware of the worths now over there😂. but as you say collect now for PS4 and Xbox one generation.
You are right on that one, it is getting pricey now. I have some places that still offer them cheap, but the stock is depleting fast. I am looking at PS4 games now.
Most of the modern age "collectors" are already very late. I bough tons of PS3 and Xbox360 games 4-5 years ago... I mean even sealed ones for 3£ to 10£
That is really awesome. A true collector, finding value in a time when no-one was looking. You have my respect for, what I can only imagine is a very impressive collection.
Don't get me wrong, I don't have every game, just stuff I really like and want. I knew the Xbox 360 day will come and it may be even more collectable than PS3, thta's why I jumped mainly on those. Most of the game are still pretty affordable though, maybe not new and sealed, but at the end of the day if you want to play it, then it doesn't matter :)
@@LikeYesterday-sv3kr IMHO it won't be the same for the PS4 or XBOX-S, X...or whatever they call it ...Switch will be the king there :) and if it's not backwards compatible...boy, oh boy... the prices will go to the skies in next 10yrs
Like how many PS3 consoles does anyone need I own 8 of them not going to buy another one the reason I have 8 is cause my first one broke just for playing PS2 games on it games it just couldn’t handle like marvel Vs capcom 2 it broke my PS3 4 times I never bought another 60 gb PS3 ever again if anyones asking for a lot of money for these dumb PS3 that don’t really play all PS2 games don’t bother you’ll never see a GameStop store ever have one 60 gb model cause they test the consoles before buying them if you don’t want your PS3 to break don’t play marvel Vs capcom 2 on it the easiest way to make sure you can’t is buy a 500 gb model you get more storage it stays alive never breaks
@@LikeYesterday-sv3kr I own 2 copies of marvel Vs capcom 2 one opened used and one sealed that game breaks your PS2 not just the PS3 if you don’t mind to break your consoles go right ahead the console is important you need it if you really love marvel Vs capcom 2 you should of bought the digital copy like I did on PS3 and Xbox 360 that’s delisted now if you want to play it really bad go buy the marvel Vs capcom 2 arcade 1 up that will never break it comes with the original rom
Here is a better idea don't sell the PS3 you had. that is one bad PS3 controller. Get a real controller 3rd party is trash i have 4 ps3 controllers. you can use a PS4 and PS5 controller with a usb cord. You only need a PS3 controller plugged in to press the PS button. You can play PS1 games on all PS3 consoles.
@@LikeYesterday-sv3kr simpsons is n nice game, dis god of war maar simpsons. Dit het puzzles elemente en free roam, goeie game vir daardie tyd. Dit is n game wat ek nog net eenkeer in die "wild" gesien het...
Ps3 consoles dont last sadly. The components and thermal paste/pads are designed for short term (5-7) years. Ive had mutiple ps3s die. Getting them fixed costs way to much...
Not true. I have mine since the start of ps3 slim and only had to change the thermal paste once in 2023. The only things that I ruined were 3 oem controllers. The console is in perfect state.
@@SamFlarens I have a PS2 fat from 2002 that's never had a issue. Ps3s don't last since solder under the CPU and GPU cracks. They are notorious for not lasting.
If you have a strong PC, there are over 2000 PS3 Titles currently playable in 4k with unlocked framerate and other enhancements through emulation. I had a modded PS3 back in 2020, it was a slow clunky machine by todays standards, I would take the Emulation over the console any day.
