An 80s child, now 41. The nostalgia of this hits me like a sledgehammer - I miss the Saturday mornings and when times were much, much simpler. What I would give to do it all again. Cliched, I know, but kids these days don't know what they missed. Tears rolling.
I’m a 90’s kid age 35, born ‘88 but obviously too young to remember before like ‘93. And this was on TV through the 90’s too, it’s very nostalgic to many older and mid range millennials too.
The older you get, the harder nostalgia hits you. It's a shame when things are forgotten and lost. Every time someone plays this, The Raccoons life is extended.
Too true. And not just the song; it really was such a good show, too. I don't know if they're still running it, but if they're not they really should. It was so well animated, it would probably still look good to today's young audiences. And substance-wise, the show is far superior to 95% of what's on tv these days, anyway.

This along with Ulysses 31, He-Man, Thundercats, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, Mysterious Cities of Gold, Centurions, Ghostbusters, Gummi Bears and many more are a reminder how great I had it as a kid not only with the animation and stories but the music 😂
Gi Joe and Transformers Snorks and Jem and Dinosaucers and the list is endless and words to describe the greatest Cartoons Toys Video Games and Video Tapes Food we had 2channels perfection so simple this came on sometime i remember.Mulit dimension portal World was alive and happening take note who was around love to return in soul and spirit and never leave magical fairytale dreams imagination creation it had it all Vibes and Atmosphere the 80s solely deserves to live on forever eternity that's what I think special than any other time in history era decades centuries etc

Imagine being a kid of today.......all the snowflakes claiming mental health issues, people who don't identify as man or woman, vegans,electric cars....... Fuck that. Yh u said it! I have many of good memories of sitting in front of the box watching my favourites back to back. I also remember when Nickelodeon and cartoon network first came on sky tv. I used to love watching rugrats, rocko`s modern life and the adventures of pete and pete...oh what id give to relive those days again!! haha

I spent my childhood in the eighties looking forward to the future. Now I'm here... it sucks! Hurry up and invent time travel so I can go back again. Everything was just so much better back then, even the end credits to our cartoons rocked!

Every time I hear this song it reminds me of how great it was to grow up in Canada. I'm so proud to be Canadian! Watched the show on Irish channel Network 2 now RTÉ2 in a kids afternoon show the den. Also saw it on British tv. In Ireland we can get most British tv channels. This was one of the most classic tv shows. One of mine and one of my brothers favourites as children.
Watched the series as a 12 year old kid in a tiny room on a black and white TV far away in East Germany - and only for this awesome ending theme. Now I am 46 and I am moving to Canada with my wife and my kids... So, never underestimate the things you watch as a kid - it might change your life someday.
Back when just children's cartoon show themes could have been chart-topping power ballads in their own right! It was an epic, inspirational time to be a kid. Being exposed to music like this put passion and fire in our gut.

@@puckerings Actually, most of the kids at my Elementary school thought I made up "The Raccoons" TV series, AND made fun of me for liking cartoons. That includes the classic Disney movies. Also, don't forget that with the rare exception, most "new" TV Shows and movies are just live-action remakes, that shoehorn in advertisements(Ex: Crispy Cream in Power Rangers 2017, and Olive Garden in Sonic the Hedgehog) or in Alvin and the Chipmunks case, ripping off whatever song is popular at the time. Or put in randomness without understanding the source material(Ex: Teen Titans Go!)
As an American who is 37, I remember messages of tolerance and peace and the idea of being neighbors and not enemies. Whatever is going on today between the people who run our respective countries, I consider you a friend I haven't met yet.
I'm 32 and I remember watching it too, the voice dub was superb and I have many fond memories connected to this show. It was that magic peaceful place where everyone had their quirks but no one was quite the bad guy, not even Cyril Sneer, so friendship and mutual understanding would always win. The world is in desperate need of more shows like this.
I'm in the UK... Just think that even though parents were separated by the Iron Curtain in the 80s, we kids were united in our living rooms by watching and loving The Raccoons (even though we never knew it at the time!).
Just take a look at the kids,they play with everyone they dont care where you from and what religion you believe.We are getting brainwashed while we age.We are all the same and live in the same planet..wish neverending peace will come someday

Ghostbusters, the real Ghostbusters, Bravestarr, Starcom, fantastic Max, Saber rider, Galaxy Rangers, Big foot and the muscle machines, transformers, Gobots, Beverly Hills teens... We had great cartoons back in the days
This is the most positive, upbeat and uplifting song I've ever heard. When you find your true friends, and I mean the ones who would walk through fire for/with you, hold onto them with everything you have. That's what this song is. Holding onto the ones who defend/define you in ways you can't even completely comprehend. I am lucky to have found such friends. And they will always, always be in my heart and on my mind. Even if I never find romantic love, I have these deep friendships and I'm ok with that. Means so much and always ill.

One of the greatest cartoons of all time! I miss my Saturday morning routines with all the great cartoons of the 80's and 90's. This is one of the best theme songs too!
This show had a massive impact being one of the first shows I can remember, this show was massively empathetic, even the villain was not beyond being human and learning valine lessons. This is not even including the ending theme… Soo good! Very Canadian/10
Most 80s cartoons I watch again now, yeah they suck. But the racoons is still good, they put a lot of effort into soundtrack. Good soundtracks make cartoons, look at the Simpsons, bespoke written and performed for each episode with an orchestra (not a full one, I think it was a 50 piece)
Those darn onions..*sniff* Stuff like this really made a childhood. Good clean simple messages about being a decent person. no gimmicks or pressure to conform, just be a good person.

This reminds me of the wonderful childhood I had and appreciate the fact that we grew up in the golden age of cartoons. All of these cartoons even some of the more violent ones usually came with positive messages without them being politicised or coming across preachy. The people that created kids TV back then knew exactly what we wanted and delivered it to us in bucket loads. The powerful feelings of nostalgia I get from this is almost enough to make a grown man cry.
Fun fact: Rewatch these cartoons and you'll see they ARE politicised. You just didn't notice it as a kid. For starters, Raccoons has a VERY clear anti-capitalist message. The rich Cyril Sneer, head of a huge company trying to bulldoze the forest to make way for more of his own operations, just to turn a quick profit.

I know this is late, but there some really good themes out there, aside from this. Some examples include: Gargoyles, Duck Tales, Darkwing Duck, Mighty Ducks the Animated series, Rupert, Insektors, Reboot, Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, Tiny Toon Adventures, Peter Pan and the Pirates, 90s X-Men, Chip n' Dale Rescue Rangers, etc.
I don’t think you understood the previous post the commentator tried to invoke. They didn’t mean to imply their weren’t other good theme songs in cartoons. As in terms of catchiness even...they were stating how this song is perfect because it embodies the 80’s feel and sound and it was positive and the best and baseline alone got your attention before the verse and the chorus itself is infectious. So good that it’s rare for a cartoon intro and belongs on radio and music video and movie! That’s what the commentator was trying to invoke and detail.

Born in mid 90s but I grew raised by my grandparents. I grew up up watching box sets of most of the shows my parents grew up with, along with a bunch of a 'newer' shows from the 90s and 00s. Safe to say I've experienced generations worth of content. Resulting in me being such an old soul for my age. I feel blessed. This one though, nostalgia hit me like a freight train! Such an epic song.
One of the greats. Loved the show, loved the messages, hell, brings me joy and tears just recalling. If time travel ever gets invented, we all know we'll be headed back to the 80's for one more go around.
I'm 36 now and I've always remember this song as part of a tv show I used to watch as a kid but, I couldn´t remember the name of the show nor the name of the song. I finally found it like 30 years after! this is amazing. Thanks so much for this video. My inner child is really happy :)

How did this series not hit the popularity it deserved? Oh right... Its Canadian. I've never seen this series appear in top ten lists or reviews. What's crazy is each episode had a musical I terlude and each one slapped!
This series represents such a period of childhood freedom and purity and even though it recedes it lingers in its essence as a life marker. It existed and even though time is harsh its imprint remains.
I would love to have been at the production meeting when somebody suggesting running this over the credits. Incongruous, but in many ways it just works.
God this takes me back, the best thing on tv when I was a lad, ive now got 3 boys and there cartoons dont even come close to this! Great memories! They should bring it back for our kids!

Growing up in upstate New York near the Canadian border, we got all the CBC shows like The Raccoons, Cucumber, Read All About It, Fred Penner, Mr. Dressup. Great shows.
I love this song! It also reminds me of when my children were small. I used to watch The Raccoons with them and sing along to the song. Happy memories.
Hmm, so as a Canadian born in the 80s, I just realized that we had pretty wholesome TV shows growing up. Even our PSAs were pretty innocent too, like the house hippo one. Maybe that's partially why we have a reputation for being nice, lol.
‘Run With Us’ by Lisa Lougheed (who also voiced Lisa Raccoon i the show), is in my opinion the greatest theme to a cartoon ever made. Unfortunately it isn’t on Spotify, but a brilliant cover version by Glitterwolf is available :)
This song just fitted the tone of the show somehow and added to it's depth. I remember just loving this as a kid, would never miss the ending. in the 80s, we had some of the best cartoon themes.

All I could remember of this was the intro music and then this song at the end....I cannot for the life of me remember a single episode...my god....I miss my childhood!!!!!!
The 80's had big production values, art and content mattered more than money back then, TV shows got in a lot of actual ex film makers from screen etc, so the kids TV was epic.
It's not like they weren't trying to make money back then too, they just felt it was better to invest and make money over time for something timeless and everlastingly popular, instead of flash in the pan now nobody has any faith in anything lasting, and it's destroying TV entirely, which in turn justifies those decisions.
