I'd like to share this rare opportunity to review what must be the rarest of al Rover 800's. An early 825 Sterling fitted with the TWR bodykit, being an earlier car, its also fitted with the short lived 6 gauge dash clocks. This car has only covered 24k miles in its life.
Hope you all enjoy it!

Fabulous car and a credit to its owner. Like I said previously I had a D reg 825 Sterling but mine was rare. It was a manual gearbox and I had it fitted with the TWR body kit. If I remember correctly it cost £1,200 to buy fit and colour match. Plus I fitted an Alpine headunit with Alpine speakers front and rear. The 8" tri axial speakers were outstanding, no need for a subwoofer. The colour of mine was a dark silver grey, forget the name of the paint. The car was awesome. My Dad described the ride as floating on air, that's how smooooooth the ride was. Oh how I miss the 80's lol.

I used to work at a Rover dealer in Hemel Hempstead back in the early 90s, I remember these well. My personal favorite was the slightly later 827 SLi saloon with a manual box, a sort of understated thinking mans Vitesse. Real trip down memory lane watching this. Many thanks for posting.

I always loved what Tom Walkinshaw(TWR) did with the Jaguar XJC, and even the Rover SD1s that were raced. This bodykit just doesn't work at all well however. I owned and loved the 2.7 Rover fastback, but certainly here in Scotland, with salt on the roads for 6 months of the year, the poor cars rotted like buggery. They were almost entirely gone from Scots roads from about late nineties onwards if not before.

Nice. I've had several of these 800s. I currently have a 1987 E-reg Sterling V6 with all of the early touches as this car has. My father had a shantung Gold over Gunmetal grey D-reg Rover Sterling in the early 90s where I got my love for them from. I also had an 827Si with a TWR bodykit, although my car was a fastback rather than a saloon. As a point; the Mk1 Rover Sterling never came with a full set of 4 deep pile floor mats, for some reason they only ever came with 3. This also carried onto the Mk2 Rover Sterling that came with deep pile mats (although of a different materials) were only ever a set of 3. Great video!

These are just really badged first generation Acura Legends, down to the platform and drive train, and that's what made. Made these truly fantastic was that they had amazing bones. The biggest issue is we're well known that Lucas did an awful job with the wiring and peripherals which was unique to Rover as opposed to reusing. What Honda had already designed for the legend, so school issues sent so many of these out to early graves. Some of these were sold in the US and in all my days of junkyarding I had seen a ton of these, but the last three that I have seen or a few years ago and each of them had under 60,000 miles on them. I can't imagine what went wrong, but that was such a shame to see something of this stature and rarity, especially in the US, ending up as junk.

That's a beautiful car. Has it just changed ownership? Whoever owns it they are very lucky. The sterling was identified by the two tone paint but you could opt for single colour. They were very well spec'd cars then let alone now. Speed sensitive power steering with adjustable steering angle. Mine is the 1990 big bumper model and has the 2.7 engine. Its Azure blue with gunmetal and rare Prussian blue leather. The rear seats are electrically operated. They have some get up and go and the Honda engine is a great engine. Nice sound to it. The car you review here its amazing that there is no bleed on the lcd screen on the vehicle monitor. It also has an ice warning. The lambswool rugs you mentioned the drivers one is missing as i understand it and its hard to believe but they only came with 3 mats. The driver didn't get one why i dont know i'm told it was because they were concerned it may imped control of the car? This i find hard to understand because other manufacturer never had an issue. They also made them for the Montego 3only. Its Lovely car and i thoroughly enjoyed that thank you for bringing it to us.

Yet again another one slagging off Rover , "Rust is always a major concern with any old Rover " from that era onward rust was never a problem, far less than any other car, having worked as an MOT tester`s assistant in a garage for 17 year and also having a 827 company car and my own two 825 Sterlings they never had any rust at all , they were all parked outside and I had them for 10 years . Show me any other car of similar age and price as a Rover 25/200, 45/400 , 600, 800 or 75 that has less rust than the Rover . I dont think Ive ever seen a 75 with rust on it unlike the Jaguar S-type of the same age where we needed to sills need welding every year . you should have said ," Rust is always a major concern with any old car"
@Sorted7
@Sorted7 4 месяца назад
Easy tiger. I’m not disagreeing with u that rust isn’t rover specific but 75s are rusting on the rear of the sills these days. Rovers defo don’t deserve the hate tho, the R8 for example was a bloody brilliant thing compared to its competition

Hello Mark long time no see. I think you're half right. I don't think matey was slagging them off as such, and these very early 800s were very different to your (and my) old Mk2s. The Mk1c onwards were very good in terms of rust proofing. The early cars were not great. As for 75s, they were very good too, although now most of them have had new rear sills, arms and front subframes, or they need them. I had two 75s and both needed the sills welding at the back by the jacking points. Then again, so did my XJ8 by the time I sold it. On an X350 XJ6 now, which obviously is much better, if not a patch on the X308 to drive. You still got your X330?

Cool yer jets, man. I think he was very complimentary about the car, and let's be honest, rust is an issue with many marques of that era.
