My grandpa owned two avalanche 1500s from brand new and ran a HVAC company out of them for a decade putting over 200,000 miles on both while hauling a trailer that was way heavier than those trucks were rated for while also having the bed and backseat slam full of stuff too .The avalanche is truly awesome 👌
I can’t get enough either! I love Mine and I run a Window Cleaning business out of it, previous to that I used it for many other types of contracting work. LAWN Care! Just today I tow the skid steer no problem!
The Avalanche is ALL truck. Plus I do more with mine than most guys would do with their truck. Camp all the time...haul anything. I am on number 4 in 15 years...love them!
Just bought mines a few days ago with 171k miles on it and I’m astonished how comfortable and unique this truck is. And I don’t mind the cladding tbh it’s unique!
I have a 2006 Avalanche 2500 with the 8.1. I have been shopping for another 06 with a lot less miles for a few years now but just can't find one. Mine now has over 300k on it and still runs great despite the fact that I drive it daily for work and tow 10k-12k lbs or more regularly. I had no idea they were that rare! It's a great truck
This is a great Avalanche and all Avalanches are great. It's like no other vehicle ever made. I've driven nothing but an Avalanche since October of 2001. People either love them or hate them. But if you ever really get to know the incredible utility of this machine then you will know why people like me love this vehicle. No, it's not a truck. It's WAY more than a truck could ever be. Even my '02 Z66 could haul way more than any 1/2 truck because we can drop the midgate and stack the load towards the middle of the truck. I hauled 1,500 square feet of Pergo flooring in one load with the bed covers on tailgate closed and zero sag. The midgate is what makes it put the U in SUV. I hauled 26 4' x 8' sheets of 1/2" sheetrock with the bed covers on and tailgate closed in a pouring rain storm. You can't do that with a truck. And that's just a Z66 2WD with a 5.3 vortec engine. With just that towing package I routinely hauled steel cargo trailer that grossed around 8,000# - though I had a brake controller added and the trailer obviously had brakes. So just imagine what this beast could do. I would buy this right now if I had the cash. I'm sure it's sold by now right?
25 sheets of drywall in the bed, plus 14 sheets of 1/2" plywood on top with the window out strapped to the hooks at the back of the side boxes. And towing a full 10-12k dump trailer. My 06 2500 has over 300k and runs great.
I bought one new in 2001. Just sold it in 2022. I only had 150,00 miles on it. I switched up to a Duramax 2500. 8.1 liter was a strong motor but gas mileage sucked! It did my family good for 20 years.
I own a 03 2500 avalanche my father in law owns a 04 2500 avalanche and I also own a 04 sierra 2500 with the 8.1 allison combo , I'm on a search for a 8.1 suburban to complete the fleet
I have one of these. Got it as a tow rig and wife has taken it over. I have to ask for it back when i need to tow. All avalanche 2500s had cladding. The 2500 has cladding in the fender were as 1500s dont.
I love it! From reading the comments it looks like everybody that owns one loves them. I have been shopping for one of these for a while, unfortunately I can't afford this one, however, I do prefer the 2500. Now that spring is here I'll be selling my car (2009 Pontiac G8 GXP with a 6 speed Tremec) to buy the Avalanche. This might start a feud but I wonder if anybody has advice on the 1500 vs. 2500. I've been more of an SUV guy than a truck guy but my wife wants something with a bed this time around and I've always liked the Avalanche. I'm flipping back and forth between 1500 and 2500. I don't care about the fuel consumption. Thanks.
the 1500 will be cheaper to modify and run. The 2500 is an absolute animal. I couldn’t find a 1500 near me that wasn’t an absolute pile. I wound up taking a flight to VA beach to buy my 2500. I could’ve sold it three times for more than I paid several times on the way home.
I have both, 04 1500 and 06 2500. The 1500 is awesome and better on gas. I bought a 2500 as well because I was towing heavy dump trailers and bobcats. Depends on what you are using it for. I get about 12mpg empty and 8 fully loaded and towing max. Not cheap to run but is a beast.
The rarest is probably the 2002 Avalanche BaseCamp Edition as it is a 1 of 1. Somebody on a Facebook Avalanche page has it and posted about a month or 2 back.
Love the truck now you made me think because I’ve got an avalanche in my backyard and don’t remember the year but it looks like the one in your video so next spring I have to go look at it to see what I have and then I guess I’ll fix the head gasket in it because if it’s the same then I didn’t think they were worth as much and someone hear asked to buy it for parts I asked 1200.00 he said no but it runs just a Gasket blew under the hood and shot oil everywhere and it was parked after that. But now I see why it gets so much attention so thanks and ya I guess I got one too many trucks to pay attention to the years of them all!
Ok question....at 4 mins and 11 seconds... steering wheel is on left side, at 8 mins and 19 seconds when you drive it steering is on right side.....which only raises more and more questions.....
You're kidding right...the video is flipped. I happens a lot during the editing process. If you pay attention, in a lot of RU-vid videos you might notice that the test on signs or other printed objects is mirrored. Most of the time on RU-vid this is done intentionally to prevent a copyright strike or complaint by a real person or entity that was captured in the video (a flipped image is less likely to be captured by automated systems). Sometimes it's unintentional if the editor is unfamiliar with the process or software. I'm assuming this was an accident in this case. If you were kidding then "slap me silly and call me Susan..."
