The Reagans were very respectful of the Chinese people and its history during this visit.

Most people in China were very poor at that time. Thanks to the opening policy, China is now a completely different country - living standard has skyrocketed, life expectancy is much higher, much more hospitals and advanced facilities, one of the most advanced public transport networks which is still being built at an unprecedented speed, a lot more world-class universities and scientists, smart technology everywhere, etc. It is a win-win situation for both the US and China.

@@vandarkholme442 I guess you’ve never been to China. It is an undeniable fact that most Chinese now live in much better conditions than decades ago. For those who were born in or before 1980s we all had memories of how poor we were at that time. Very few products in superstores, no good hospitals, no health insurance. Of course China still has lots of problems some of which are still big, but it is a fact that people’s lives are much better.

@@Kevin-eq2nu Thanks for your comment. But I have no idea where your question comes from. China has lots problems many of which political, but my comment is simply about the progress it has made and all US presidents have openly acknowledged these achievements and why don't you say they are also spokesmen for Chinese gov? Again, this doesn't mean I'm advocating its problems. It is just a simple and short RU-vid comment about some aspects of China. We are not writing essays or political statements here.
