Dammit, if Jerry isn't ridiculously underrated for his contributions to rock and roll drumming. He still had "it" at this point, too.

The best rock and roll documentary ever made. Buddy created the model for all that followed him. The Beatles and the Rolling Stones owe their existence to him. While Buddy was influenced by the great black artists and Elvis he created the rock star that recorded his music his way, wrote his own music etc.

Keith Moon wouldn't have been possible without Jerry Allison. He influenced every Surf Rock drummer that followed him - and that was Keith's main influence. Buddy's influence on guitarists and Rock/Pop songwriters is undeniable. What an incredible band!

@@1Crunch. Not Fade Away was supposed to be the other song they would play on their second appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show. However, they had a falling out with Sullivan and they only played one song, the Sullivan sabotaged Oh Boy!. Anyway, I wonder what it would have sounded like live with actual drums?

The movie never gave respect to Jerry Alison and Joe B. They were, are because they are still living, but very old now very good musicians. It was incredible they all were from the same place at that time and also Waylon. McCartney does an incredible job in showing who they all are or were, and the movie never did justice to any of them or even told the real story.

Why? Being alive now means you can enjoy everything from the past without having to wait for it to be created. And possibly, you would think quite differently about the things you like now if you were alive then. It's kinda hard to say whether what brand of microphone that Buddy has around his neck, but its either an RCA Lavalier mic BK6B or SENNHEISER MD214 microphone.

@allexx123 Because that movie was far far beyond inaccurate in many ways. I reccomend searching out a book called "Remembering Buddy". It's out of print now but I found it at my library.

@trishfe I agree--I don't know of any other record producer or manager who insisted on horning in on his artists' songwriting credits. Larry Holley is right--Norman Petty was a real skinflint. He never even paid the Holleys for doing the tile job in the studio echo chamber; not one cent.

Notice how the box barely moves, and he puts no holes in it. That's called touch. All the best drummers are very deft, and very nuanced. Then again - duh!
