It always amazes me how these guys don’t take personal credit for the history they make and the accomplishments they do. They seem to always have a “I was just doing my job, what I was trained to do” type of attitude for their incredible deeds. Hat’s off and thankful respect to those who serve and have served.

I remember being a kid and hearing about how the navy seals saved the day and shot them all in the face on a boat. Just added to the mythology and legend of the unit in my young eyes

I just finished watching Terry’s review of the movie with the black rifle guys and had to watch this pretty cool when we have the ability to hear first hand accounts of the mission . If this was in the 80’s no one would know the wiser

Just FYI for anyone that wants to see the ACTUAL orange boat Phillips was in withe the pirates (bullet holes and all), it is at the Navy Seal Museum in Ft. Pierce, Florida (~45 min S of Cape Canaveral). Very cool place to visit.

Much love and props to those seal Bubba's! I wanted 2 be a seal so bad when I was in the Navy, but back-to-back deployments on 2 decommissioning ships just doesn't help put in a package. LOL especially when you/i can't swim good enough to pass the freaking entry exam. And doing the swim before doing the run, push ups, sit ups and pull ups kicks your butt bad enough, esp since I swim like a rock lol but when you are young,u can handle things better mentally than when u get older. So if u are going to do it, do it as young as possible with a I'm not going to quit no matter how cold wet and sandy I am after a 5 mile swim and a 10 mile run. ;)

I am a disabled Army vet. I did crypto comms for the the BIG RED 1 and the 56th Field Artillery Command Pershing (nukes) from 1984 to 1990. Compared to you guys, I was a nobody. I just want to thank you guys for your service and all of the sacrifices that you made and continue to make. God Bless you guys and the USA!

LOL @ the meeting some guy he went to boot camp with in the middle of the damn ocean like that. I had a similar thing happen to me in the marines in Iraq during my 2nd deployment. I was in a weapons company infantry unit at that time and we were going out to drop off 2 snipers from my battalion and pick up 2 that were out there from some other unit and bring them back to the main base nearby. One of them that we were dropping off was my old rack mate from boot camp. We were doing this during the night, and they were to get a quick rundown of the terrain and any info on things going on in the area from the snipers we were picking up. So, we get out there, and 1 of the 2 guys we were picking up was our old drill instructor (kill hat) from boot camp. So literally I'm in the machine gun turret of the vehicle that's dropping off my old rack mate from boot camp and we're picking up my old kill hat drill instructor from a sniper hide. My old DI f'd up my rack mate's life every day during boot camp. He messed with him every day because knew he wanted to be a sniper in the fleet and made his life tougher because of it. The whole scene was just surreal. They recognized each other right away and it was a pretty damn awkward reunion for the 5 minutes it lasted haha. They were both professionals as expected though.

The in depth listen into the careers and family lives of our best is something you don't get everyday . Especially outside of a movie type narrative that can be and probably is distorted. I wish he would’ve talked a little ( if he knew ) about what Rob Oneil talked about in his book about the guy who pulled the trigger on one of the pirates and took a a ton of shit for it. That part of his book always fascinated me. Would like another prepsective of someone who was there.

Ppl don't realize the logistics alone to just get on target. This is why the most proficient trigger pullers are firstly the most proficient problem solvers. Hats off lads.

Dude the Jessica Lynch rescue was amazing. That and the hostage rescue from Africa. These guys can fly in somewhere, pick a lock, and make entry into a house before anyone would even know they are there. The shit that these guys know that the public doesn’t is probably insane. They’ve probably been to places that you can’t even find on any map.

the rescue of captain phillips , is just another reason why the seals are needed . Not many could have shot a moving target at night while the platform you are on is moving.

I heard they winched them in an inch at a time all night and they were so close, they shot the guy with a short barrel rifle. Interestingly, when the pirate was killed, Captain Phillips was supposedly heard saying "why did you kill my friend?' and started crying. He had apparently succumbed to the Stockholm Syndrome under the stress of the ordeal.

If "Captain" Phillips had done his job as a Captain this incident likely wouldn't have happened. He gave into the request of the ship owners by being to close to land to save gas even though there were notice to mariners stating to stay at least 600 miles from land. He's the Captain - it's his ship and he has the final say when it comes to the safety of the crew! Supposedly crew members sued him for his negligence of putting them thru the ordeal
