In my opinion this is one of the most underrated jams of all time. The bass line is filthy, the lyrics are so tight and seem to just keep going on and on. Rakim had more to say on this one song than a bunch of rappers have on their entire records.

Hi! I don't know if you ever saw it, but the movie "Hoodlum" (1997), starring Laurence Fishburne, Tim Roth, Vanessa Williams, Andy Garcia? But if anything, this music video resembles more that movie than it does New Jack City. If you notices the old school gangster motif in the video, it was patterned after the 1930s gangster era, but New Jack City was about the gangster and drug scene of the late 1980s. Two totally different etas and styles of gangsterism.

Nas is definitely the god of his generation. But Rakim will always be the original god mc!
