Kevin Hutchison contacted me after my first video on the llano bug and let me know of a few things I could do to improve the fly. So here I am showing you guys this tie and the differences between the two. The one I tied and what he tied. Sorry for the long video here but hey, you know I like to talk! Haha! Hope you enjoy!

This video was more enjoyable to me than the voice over videos you've done in the past. Somehow it comes across as more authentic. I enjoy the rambling and random thoughts and ideas that come to mind as you're tying. More like this please.

Once again a nice bug. Now I know what to do with some of the foam I bought at a garage sale for really cheap. I had to make you proud. Keep the good stuff coming.

Looks like a fish catcher to me! Albeit I like the wing tied either way. I have seen Kevin's original\creator tying video. I didn't like his rubber leg material but it should be expected that if your sharing fly tying recipes on you tube, folks are going to tie the original based on materials they have on hand. To me it is all personal prefrence as to how anyone ties a fly. I felt like the tone of the video was to let everyone know what you didn't do correctly since you were contacted by the creator. I like creative fly tyers and creativity. The flies you tie are fantastic! Keep doing what you do! Variant fly designs is creativityfor everyone. Thanks for another great video!

Haha! For sure mine stays messy. I tie 100’s of flies a week usually since I sell them. Yeah the bench is awesome! I’ve had mine for 4-5 years or so and it’s been great! Btw, I’m not sure how advanced you are in tying and if it would be beneficial to you, however I am now doing a patreon which allows for 1 on 1 help for fly thing with some of the tiers. Cool fly. I prefer a hot spot so I can see the fly if I’m using it as an indicator. I like the curved hook.

Could be, I’m sure the originator of the fly meant to catch fish in the summer with it. Can’t imagine it won’t work well. I had lots of sunfish hit it for sure when I fished it

do you think that if i tie a big multi-jointed wooly bugger that would be able to catch some saltwater fish or big musky? i just recently got into fly fishing for big/strong fish

Oh for sure man! Just use the saltwater hooks. And it doesn’t have to be multi jointed. But you could tie that. Wooly buggers work just about everywhere

I’m forgetting in this one, usually I write the size down in the video description. I tie this regularly though in size 12 and 14, so probably one of them.

Tying bench? Yeah it’s the oasis compact walnut. www.oasisbenches.com/oasis-benches/compact-bench/ They sell the non walnut one cheaper and it’s the same layout. If you buy it, please let the owner of oasis know that you bought it because you saw it on my video.

@@McFlyAngler A friend of mine has one of those desktop-sized CNCs in his garage. I was working on the design with Sketchup and he said I could mill it out on his machine.
