An old communist in Canada visited Moscow a number of times and loved how he was greeted there by, of coarse, Kremlin's agents. He along with other foreign communists were corrupted there. And now he's spreading Putin's propaganda, I believe he got financially rewarded for it.

Vlad, i have two questions about this video: 1) Is there a possibility that tucker really is russian asset? Is it really out of the window? I am not claiming he is, but i wonder if it is all just a grift on his side, or he either is really russian asset or just really started to believe in russian propaganda. So what i wander is, to what degree are those actions being taken by him lately are just his pure typical grift. If it is 100% or something else is playing role there and if it is, what is it and what role it is? 2) Russian elites who claim to fight west etc... and at the same time celebrates west (lets say from the past) - is it again just an act they play or there is an actual sentiment? And if there is an actual sentiment, what is it? Did they start to believe in their own propaganda, or they always believed in this oversimplified view of the west? What i am asking is, if they believe that west once was this greatful place and now it is this terrible place, where is the line drawn? Because it reality it is never great or terrible, it is always both. So do they have this unrealistic fantasy of this great west of the past (where or they grim reality is ignored) or they started believe in their own propaganda how modern west is completely disfunctional and russia is the last resort of those values west once had?

Lets face it. The West is run by fascist leaders. That became apparent during the Covid pandemic. How can you call them democracies??? They are just a somewhat better than Putin - at the moment. But we dont know yet what they are capable of. I am not really defending Tucker action. But 75% of what he says is true. Especially about domestic issues.

You've explained it very well. As a Romanian and Eastern European whose country has a historical fear of Russia, this is what I dislike the most about people like Carlson. They are projecting their own internal US culture wars onto an actual war in our region, in a way that has nothing to do with the reality of the war itself. He is trying to paint this as a conservative vs. liberal thing. But Ukraine itself is a generally conservative country. As is my country, as are most of the countries in the region. By all accounts, I think Russia is less conservative than us if looking at church attendance and belief in God. And it's incredibly frustrating how much our security depends on a country where people like Carlson have a very significant audience. People like him who promote narratives which threaten the very future of our countries. But alas, I try to keep a cool head in all of this. Not least because we have our own significant minority who is skeptical or downright opposed to helping Ukraine. With very specific local causes, as always. Thank you for your work Vlad, it's a breath of fresh, level headed air in all this madness.

It would be an smart easy huge propaganda victory for both Putin and Tucker if Putin released an American journalist in response to pre-arranged 'hard questions' from Tucker; that would make Tucker Carlson a hero and appear as a credible non-biased journalist, and make Putin appear reasonable. The world would see Carlson succeed where Biden failed, and see Putin was willing to negotiate freeing hostages all along, it was just stubborn leaders in the West who refused to negotiate (just as leaders in the West are the ones needlessly prolonging the war in Ukraine rather than just talk to Putin).

Vlad, I think there’s something you haven’t talked much about, if I may suggest: The cruelty, sadism, egoism and consequential submission on a personal level in Russia. I struggle to formulate it, but I’ve seen remnants of it in Eastern Europe among older people in power.. I know you might not have experienced this first hand, but for sure you must be aware. This culture, perhaps stemming from long time authoritarian systems rotting, systems that breed and promote pure psychopaths to power. This is totally not understood in the west, this willing malignant attitude. It has to be experienced to be believed..

If I may bet, wether or not you’ve been unfortunate enough to experience it yourself, for sure, you have relatives and friends who tell you stories that are so outrageous you’ve struggled to believe them. As I see it is isolated authoritarian efforts in disjoint countries finding common causes that compliments each other's. Tucker interviewing Orbán and Putin makes him "free speech hero". He's not interested in roasting any of them as he's not in for any truth. For Orbán and Putin, it's a chance to splinter the opposition against them; depoliticize enemies and fish for new allies. During Soviet times, there was limited capacity for amoral turncoats in the west to make millions of dollars for supporting the efforts of a hostile foreign government to sew discord and influence in their home country. Today, bullions of dollars in oil money flow through Russia’s economy, and Russian citizens with ties to Putin own significant assets in Europe (Rotenbergs, Abramovich, Timchenko, etc) and the USA (American Ethane, etc). These people funnel money to political campaigns in the west, they do business with Americans like Trump, etc. So today, people in the west can earn significant money representing the interests of these Russian businessmen who have ties to Russia’s secret service agencies.

Tucker was just on the news saying how beautiful Moscow is...I think he is staying at a Ritz Carlton...meanwhile other American journalists are in jail. 😥 I don't mind an American interviewing Putin...but Tucker will not ask the serious questions...they will just make it a PR stunt to try and get more Americans against supporting Ukraine. Putin will manipulate the entire event, good interviews must be challenging....this will not challenge Putin. Trump and Mike Johnson are trying to hold up our most recent bill to help Ukraine...even after Biden promises increased border security. Very disappointing.

Stopping by as an American. I don't want to really engage with any Tucker Carlson -- since he left Fox, it has been wonderful having him out of the news. I find him to be about as honest as Vladimir Solovyov from a journalistic point of view. There are many angles that you could approach the "why" behind Tucker's visit. First, Tucker is getting a huge boost out of this, so base financial and follower gain is on the table by default. Tucker has long been rumored to have Kremlin connections and favorable ties to Russia, so that doesn't surprise me that he specifically was given this formal one on one interview. Putin knows the company Tucker brings, but I am not sure that I fully understand as an American who that company is...The "real workers" of america? Maybe? Kinda? I am in Texas, and I have family members that like Tucker, but I feel their reasons don't go further beyond "I like that he doesn't like Obama and Hilary Clinton" or "he sure is smart." Your warning about institutions breaking after a period of culturally creating enemies is accurate, I feel. And Russia has an interest in sowing chaos of any kind culturally in the west if it can. Solidarity in the west in regards to Russia is solidarity for Ukraine, by every written law, value, code or ethic the west proclaims to love. Culturally distracting from this is useful. On a global scale? It might be viewed like a single tinder to a larger bonfire that is Russia's propaganda efforts towards America alone.

The fact that you forbid one party to speak proves that you are a dictator and you have something very dark to hide. Surely there are a lot of people wants to hear from Putin, surely there are a lot of people dislike hearing from Washington, Brussels or Zelenskyy. That's all good, that's how it should be, it's freedom of speech. If you don't like it you just don't listen, but you have no right to forbid others from listening. The reason that so many people wants to have this interview to happen is most likely they disbelieve or doubt what Washington, Brussels and Zelenskyy have been saying all the time and they sound more like disinformation?

Vlad i think you underestimate the ties between the US alt right and soviet dictators. They are in cooperative association. Many GOP people went to see Orban in Hungary.

@@VladVexlerChat Most Republican rank and file know nothing of Putin's "Historical Russia" speech about a Soviet Reunion. I try to mention it frequently. It tends to silence the critics who know nothing of Putin's intentions. Tying the Russians to Islamic Imperialism works wonders on Evangelicals who think that anti-Woke is all that matters. Woke is a parade of abused children. In America they have a Party. Abused child PTSD is a mental illness.

Thank you, Vlad, useful as always. Your characterization of Russian media interest in Carlson is really interesting. I am intrigued also by this idea of a normative dependence on the west, perhaps because I can’t seem to flush out what that actually looks like in my own mind.
