Honestly its so refreshing seeing a gamer who plays the way I do. Just wanting to figure things out and have fun, not googling the best builds and doing teh same cookie cutter crap as everyone else. Its so exhausting to me when my friends are like "Oh I googled the best farming spot". I dont care, I dont want the best. I want it to feel organic. I want to discover things.
They've definitely created a game where you can discover things on your own, learning as you go. It's actually why I find it so addictive because of this feeling of challenge and discovery. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Best steam of a game I've ever seen, and I've seen hundreds. I really love your philosophy of learning the game on your own, not trying to min/max and just enjoying the adventure. The feeling of achievement , and working for your progress is nicely expressed by you. You also have a clear, precise , pleasant voice. I will get the game because of you, thank you.
Great and very fair assessment of the game - I feel the same about it. Really, really love taking my time with stuff. Current "project" is working my way towards the nice half-timber walls and the pottery kiln for bricks and tiles. Imo, gamers of the min/max kind will get tired of this game pretty fast since, well, there's not really any endgame, yet, to min/max towards ...
I've been really curious about this game which combines a lot of my favourite elements, but haven't taken the plunge yet due to the price, EA/bugs and "mixed" reception on Steam. Your video really highlights what I'd love about it though!
Have been really enjoying this. Was surprised. Playing mainly solo or duo (the friend I started playing with is currently away for 4 weeks). 120 hours played. The later crafting is really a grind but it's a long term goal.
We’re having a lot of fun with it too and it’s really easy to sink a bunch of hours into! Do you have any long term goals for the game and what you want to build?
@@CasualGamerYT Good question about long term goals. Besides maxing out the crafting (that will take ages), it's probably about exploring the dungeons and caves. I'm at the level that I can take out some of the towers solo so have also crafted a couple of magic items with spells which has helped greatly. Once my friend returns we should be able to venture into the caves and dungeons to explore and tread very carefully. I've just been doing a lot of re-organisation of our crafting areas, actually setting them up properly with organised storage especially post patch since all the decorated chests need to be re-placed anyway to get the extra 5 slots. In the back of my mind is that it's all temporary as there will be a server wipe at some point (if not more than one). We should probably decide where we'd setup next time after a wipe so that we can claim plots appropriately.
Actually yeah potential wipes are something I need to keep in the back of my mind. In terms of storage, I've been alternating between having one big storage area, or placing chests in relevant areas like for blacksmithing, alchemy etc. Still haven't worked out which method I prefer.
@@CasualGamerYT Yeah, we had one big storage area but had chests either side of most crafting benches for inputs and outputs. Now in the new crafting buildings I've built the last couple of days we have rows of 4 chests, then a small floor a bit above that then 4 more chests... and then 8 more chests on the reverse side of that. Seems to be working well with the crafting benches either side of that. Space for 64 chests like that in the two crafting buildings so far. Then carpentry and blacksmithing will be outside in their own crafting areas.
I think you are in Demeter Eu Rp.. Because I think you passed near my Clan ( Emerald Bay Clan) village in Levedan when you crossed the bridge. I totally agree with you about everything you said. I started playing solo but friends and new friends tagged in along the way naw Weare a Clan of 15+and everyone love the game. I hope the Devs will implement new content to keep the players interest up. Cannot solo much longer after a certain level and a group of people is needed to play.
I am currently in a clan. I chose to be the wood cutter and do resource gathering. both of which supports the clan immensely. Overall, as each patch and update comes along, it only gets better.
Yeah I'm excited to set off and explore some of the other areas in the map. I have no doubt I'm going to climb a mountain somewhere, look down and spot an entire city. The best thing is, I know if I go visit it'll be actual players who might greet me, not NPCs.
oh cool we're neighbours, we lived just bellow the castle tower you featured in this video :) your house looks good that I immediately recognized it XD
I play solo aswell, I really hope they make it possible for us to keep playing without having to join a clan I would love to see roleplay, this game have everything set for it. Would be cool to have to vote a valley leader or something like that, having conflicts between settlers
I'm part of a clan that lets us be mostly autonomous, but if there's a call for resources, then it's all hands on deck. My hut isn't even near the main clan base, but is all the way across the map so I can focus on tailor. Others have similar setups, and it's working fairly well. The trick is finding a clan like that, where you have the support to do what you need, and the freedom to do what you want.
Great video. I share your take on the game as in no need to rush stuff. Exploration is fun! What server do you play on if you dont mind me asking. Ill definately watch the next video youll make!
Just gonna throw out here that the Iron chest is more expensive for storage and you'll get just as much if not more out of just sticking with decorated chests. Originally at launch, the decorated chest had more storage than any of the other chests. After an update, you're still getting more storage out of the decorated chests overall.
Nice review. I was really excited about this game but, to be honest, was put off by the launch purchase options. Seems like Id be getting into a pay to play situation very fast, kind of what got me with Star Citizen (completely different time period, but if youve played it, I think my comparison would make sense). Im still on the fence, as its tempting, but I feel like I keep getting burned by these games that come in strong then fizzle (New World for example). For now, I suppose I'll be watching others to see if this is all gonna pan out... but thank you so much for giving such an indepth review of the systems and mechanics of the game thus far. Much appreciated!
I haven’t played Star Citzen but I know what you’ve made the comparison and it makes sense. I’m not sure how it’s going to pan out, but having played the Alpha, it was good fun doing the crafting and building, so it was worth getting at launch to see how it goes.
If you buy all the founders packs upon release do you keep your max level character and items and stuff or do you need to start all over? As I don't mind spending some money but I'd like to know the answers to the above questions
This could be a modern day ultima online if they properly balance things and continuously update. Looks like that's where they are headed. Would be cool if they implement an animal taming skill. Start by taming deer and such, and once you're high enough in the skill and can figure out how to survive against; and tame a dragon(I don't know if the game has dragons), you can go forth with your dragon pet. Not to mention taming mounts etc. Bought the game earlier, haven't played yet but looking forward to it.
I like that concept and in the roadmap they've actually mentioned 'mythical creatures' that we get to learn about later on, once they release gameplay around the lore.
@@CasualGamerYT interesting. I'll probably join the discord too so I can try to plant some seeds in the devs minds lol. I'm an avid gamer and it seems to me like what they have so far is exactly what I've been looking for.... And I've been looking for a Long time. I see the potential. Hopefully they stay true to the concept and listen to their target market rather than pandering to the masses... Many games have been ruined that way, but meanwhile if they had stayed the course, they'd get the masses anyways. Good video, cheers!
The real question is; will this game have a future? I don't think their EA purchase numbers were very good which was probably a metric their investors were interested in. Pretty sure its GG for Pax Dei...
I feel like a majority of players would buy this game once their is some sort of lore incorporated and once the combat is fixed. I already love the idea of taking a village to build a village! The game looks beautiful the building aspect looks amazing too but I’m a pvper and the game seems less interesting atm with how combat looks.
If you dont mind me asking, how many plots did you get too build that beautiful house ? And how many plots would you recommend ? Is 2 enough.. ? Gr8 vid, learning by playing is best way, makes it feel real
Thanks for the kind words! I started with two plots. Originally I placed my first plot way too far out on the river - I probably could have moved it back to the shore a couple of feet at least. I think two plots give you a fair amount of flexibility, especially as you can build up (like I'm doing with my industrial buildings).
The game is getting a lot of hate that honestly kind of baffles me. It’s a niche game for sure, but at 100+ hours in, I've loved it both solo and now in a clan for many of the same reasons you mentioned. I get to (virtually) live out my fantasy life as a green witch in a cottage in the forest - what's not to love?? 😂
I think maybe some of it comes from people starting the game with a pre-conceived notion of what it is. This idea of a social sandbox survival game in a world with no quests, no obvious objective obviously appeals to a lot of players (me included) but could definitely be off putting for others.
with games like this the only thing that i want to no the most about is the stuff i hate pvp rng and corps running hopefully there none or can be switched off and forgotten about
Looks very under baked this one. The combat looks so awfull no skill just left click wack them down and this day and age thats just not gonna cut it. Too bland no mounts no decent gear drops and questing. Adventuring is fine exploring and all but i like boss fights and dungeons and awesome gear sets and progression thats not just crafting. Ill give this a pass.
I don't know why you keep posting comments like this on other smaller youtuber's video's on Pax Dei, but it's pathetic, don't know why it seems like your so upset nowadays and such. You begged dev's for a key, didn't get it and you raged. When I saw those video's of you acting like that I unsubbed you. I can't wait for you to move on to another game as fast as many of us moved on from your youtube page. Not trying to start nothing but get yourself in order and be more professional.
People like to build, and this game is the best at it. If that's not your cup of tea then the game isn't for you. Maybe don't waste your time by judging what others are doing?
This is absolutely the worst game it is such complete junk it's so bad you could spend money and it still sucks and I mean lots of money. Thank God for swoleBenji .
