In their head to head game, Purdy and Mahomes had similar stats all around but Purdy threw one more interception. Purdy played one of the best defenses in the NFL while Mahomes played a defense that can’t get their head out of their asses 69% of the time.

@quangster
@quangster 2 дня назад
those stats are misleading a fuk tho, mahomes converted many crucial 3rd downs in the 2nd half to put the game away, while purdys best drive was in garbage time. You can't really blame purdy for that game tho, he is still a young qb with many on his WRs out, not many young qbs will do well in that situation.

@@quangsterbecause there were running lanes. Typically unless he’s juking everyone out of their shoes it’s typically a defensive breakdown when there’s running lanes for a QB. The long run would have been a 1st down either way even before the safety over ran him on the sidelines. To be fair

@littlebabycarrotful CMC makes it harder to play man because he will beat any LB coming out of the backfield. Because he us such and elite dual treat he forces teams to cover certain ways. Versus better defense they tend to lose because the refuse to stay committed to the run unless they are getting big runs or are ahead.
@littlebabycarrotful
@littlebabycarrotful День назад
@@sharifali5384 ive heard that and it's hard to argue against. Something seems different this year. But i swear i saw that last year Christian was at the back of the league in average separation on pass plays(for RBs). But that could just reflect the effort teams put in to stop him. Maybe the same way BA was the best at getting open last year but got less avg separation than Deebo or Kittle, because he probably always faced the opposing teams' best CBs. Maybe its not the same, but it's obvious you dont want Christian to have the ball in space. But Mason seems awfully good with the ball in space as well. And the 49ers dont throw it to him much. I like watching Brock throw downfield as much as any fan. But i bet if they actually got Mason involved in the pass game early, the intermediate and downfield stuff would be more open.

It's pretty obvious to me that there's a few issues offensively with the 49ers: 1 - Purdy didn't have his best weapons and wanted to make up for the Superbowl, which led to him taking the risky passes and not the easy 5 yard gains (e.g 15:32). He didn't play like himself at all. Case in point the throw on the go-route with 6 mins remaining in the 3rd on 2nd and 6, he chooses to throw to Cowling who is 1v1 on McDuffie, rather than take the easy first down to Kittle. I'm sure he will get better once he settles down, which is why I think Shanahan spent 5 mins talking to him at his locker after the game 2 - Shanahan still can't run a dropback passing game. He doesn't present Hot options against blitzes (WR's not cutting routes short, nor running into the vacated spaces) which leads to Purdy running for his life most of the time 3 - The O-Line blocking is too suspect, they let some blitzers run straight through which speaks to scheme as they're not picking up the runners at all (look at 10:33 and tell me how you leave 2 rushers running at the QB without delaying either of them!), and then look at 20:46 and see the RG just flat out not blocking anyone even though the RT is getting beat!! 4 - We can't beat sticky man coverage as the WR's we have aren't burners (Aiyuk is a 4.50, so is Samuel). Especially when they play inside leverage to stop the in-breaking intermediate throws 5 - The play calling at times is ridiculous. The first interception we expect Juice (44) to run from left TE, to block the opposite side DE, that's what really causes the pick. Purdy has been saving Shanahan a LOT this season with his scrambling and improvising

Spags said after the SB that fist half Purdy as picking them apart with zone Defense, he switched to man to man, he knows Niners receivers don't create separation and when you add free rushers to that, Purdy looks bad, when Defenses adjust Kyle doesn't and Purdy runs out of options, in this particular game Purdy tried to be aggressive and that lead to him taking bad decisions, someone needs to tell him that sacks are not the end of the world.

What I got from this was really bad pass protection through out the game resulting in either no time to let receivers hit their routes, our just busted plays. Not sure if that rattled Brock, because the underthrown passes to Kittle and Cowing, we've seen him hit his recievers in stride a lot. He will bounce back. But Brock is a way more heads up and complete QB than Shanahan has had since hes been the head coach with the 9ers. He has to take advantage of Brock's talent and start designing plays for him.

As a diehard Niner fan, Purdys' one weakness is throwing against man coverage. Defenses have been playing more of it since Christian McCaffrey went out, forcing Purdy to make more difficult throws. However, Purdy has been effective when attacking downfield, with a 68 adjusted completion percentage on passes 20 yards or more. Most of his sucess is predicated by CMC's rushing attack. Purdy's other 2024 stats include: Snap-to-release time: 3.14 seconds, the best in the league Average depth of target: 10.6 yards, the second best in the league Deep passing yards per game: 73, the best in the league Tight-window throw rate: 24.6%, the second best in the league ap-to-release time: 3.14 seconds, the best in the league. He's in the top 15.

@Zahrul3 The 9ers have a subpar O- line, so having weapons isn't going to help much, especially when you consider the fact that Purdy has his worst games against top-tier Opponents.( the ones you need to beat to win an SB) Elite players can have crappy statistics/games and still find a way regardless of who's out there, more often then not. I'm not saying you have to be elite to get it done, but his margin for error is much smaller. If they don't run the ball effectively in Kyle's system, they will have a to grind out alot of W's, Kyle's stubborness to change things around, his lack of creativity and the ability to confuse the Defense is starting to hold the Niners back a bit.

It feels like Brock kinda listened to some of the detractors and legitimate criticisms about him not pushing the ball down the field enough last year when plays were there. This year he is throwing a lot more deep passes (kill shots) and ignoring the layups. We are just watching a QB stretch his wings a bit and learning what he can and can't do. I believe the second half of the season we will see a more balanced approach from him. This feels like a QB evolving in a good way and part of that comes with some mistakes as he continues to learn the position at a pro level. I am not worried about Purdy.

@Chase Daniel One of the things no one ever talks about is that Brock Purdy is a QB that has gotten to where he is and excelled to this point because of his Anticipation. He knows the offense and establishes these rapports with his receiver so that he can snap, read, and throw before the WR even makes their break. When they have to shuffle in 4th, 5th, 6th string WRs, I think that breaks that consistency for him. He has shown the ability to make reactionary throws and plays off schedule when the pocket breaks, but he is not Josh Allen and isn't the kind of QB that will do that the whole game. Definitely had some plays in the Chiefs game where he threw to a spot that either was off time or the WR was in the wrong spot. Side note: Ronnie Bell has no business being on an NFL active roster.

As Brock Purdy rolls out his receiver's lose the separation they may have had and, Walh- lah nobody is reasonably open. 49ers also need a consistent RB That can hold defenses in check, CMC provided that. not Jordon Mason,

9ers needed to have a quick passing scheme in this game and decided against it and they paid the price. Brock played his worse game as a pro but not having 1/2 the starting offense definitely is a factor. Through all the mistakes in this game and its injuries surprisingly 9ers were still in it in 4th quarter. Chiefs defense being the difference. 9ers play a clean game here they easily win. Frustrating year so far. But reinforcements are on the way.

Purdy has a bad game, and he gets buried. Last week, Cousins, CJ, Rodgers, to name just a few all had bad games. The criticism isn't an equal opportunity employer. 😮 Burrow can start O-4, Herbert gets a pass. Depends who the qb is if the goal posts get moved.
@aceroy9195

Herbert gets a pass because of the bottom 10 OIL and bottom 15 wr core. Burrow has a bottom 5 defense. The real QB people should be lighting up is Mayfield, not purdy

@karenhardie1132 irrelevant. Football is a team sport. And people who actually know football know Dak is NOT the reason those games were lost. Sometimes he choked, hell yeah. But most of the time no. That's the same reason people who KNOW football are criticizing your boy. Because 9ers were winning without him for years. So them being just as good for 1 year with him, doesn't remove him from criticism. How many playoff wins does Purdy even have? 4? So that just means we look past 7 years of better play lmao.

I feel like Brock struggles against teams with great linebackers, ie: Ravens, Chiefs. Any team where their linebackers can clog up those throwing lanes for Purdy. How Purdy comes back from this bad game will determine how good he is and what their playoff chances will be.

Any great coach should religiously tell a QB all the time you must use your periferal vision all thru the play look at your options qickly. Purdy clearly didnt do that an dak the playoff choker now richest contract ever is worse then purdy regularly on not looking at whole field during a play
