If a Pacific rim 3 did happen, I think it would have to take place after Pacific Rim: The Black

Pacific Rim is one of my favourite films. When I realised Charlie Hunnam wasn’t in the second film, I chose not to see it in the cinema.

The first film was great

"We'll never get to see a Pacific Rim 3." That would imply that there was a Pacific Rim 2.

I didn’t think the two movies were that bad. The second was ok, but there were some things that felt unnecessary. Overall, it does suck this franchise won’t get a proper sendoff. 😢

The animated Pacific rim show on netflix is actually good

Unlike Uprising's clusterf*ck of mistakes , like killing off Mako Mori. The animated series "Pacific Rim: The Black" did a great job expanding the lore on someone else's perspective and ignoring the sequel ♥️👌

This is the closest thing we get from getting live-action Eva or any Mecha genre from Japan. What a shame!

Pacific Rim 3? When did they make a sequel?

I've always felt the idea that there had to be two pilots, in sync, to pilot the Jaegers hard to accept. Otherwise, I was a fan of the original and anime.

I haven't seen these movies. But they look pretty good. I think they should be finished with the third. They could fight with Precursors on their planet,on their field. Like John Boyega said. Pacific Rim 3 could be really cool. They should make it. Good video

I think I would have liked a prequel would have worked better than a sequel. Maybe Idris Elba could come back as the main character and it would be about the early days of the monster war.

The fact that they were thinking about a whole cinematic universe with spin offs and all kinds of other crap was part of the problen. Slow down and FOCUS on the project you are currently on.

I watched it last night and thought it was great. I never even had the chance to see in theaters.

Charlie's comments regarding the director change can also be attributed to another franchise that del Toro unfortunately stepped away from, Hellboy, it also suffered in development hell which led to it being rebooted altogether. This franchise had so much potential but it suffered from too many visions colliding.

I had such high hopes for Uprising, but they just failed to capitalize on the momentum of the original. Story was too scattered, the actors were all largely unknown, just not enough left in the sequel to go on. Great vid and commentary.

Well given the recent overall slump in movies as a whole i don't see why they would not go ahead and give it a shot, it's just as likely to be successful as anything else they are putting out.

My friends dad had a friend who was working on pacific rim 3 script and when they scrapped the film my friends dad gave my friend the Pacific Rim 3 script and my friend read the whole thing and told me the designs of the Jaegers

I think its Guillermo del Toro who made the huge difference. I knew PR 2 was going to be a disaster when I heard Guillermo del Toro is missing in the group.

What did you expect. This was supposed to be the live action Evangelion, though Hideaki Anno hated the script & direction so much, he pulled the intellectual away. Hollywood had to rework the movie to be different enough to avoid a lawsuit. Americanized IPs & franchises are always killed…

when they take the robot mechs to the alien monster world at one point they need to mix the human tech with the monster tech making new monster fighting robots. new weapons and robot parts.

People don't want a sequel to the original. They want a prequel. A sequel has no basis to exist, but many prequels can be spawned from all the untouched material.

If they did this then it would be best to do it as ether a limited series (13-26 episodes, not that 6 episode crap) or a mini-series. Build on the anime, and if possible eventually try to work in Uprising (best to have everything work toward your ultimate plot than to have this random this matters but not that) and then starts off after Uprising on that moving to the pre-curser's world. Even the aspect of the future humans would be great, and an interesting twist. I don't think this will work as a movie, but it could work on the small screen. And if it does well enough, then maybe the climax could be on the big screen. Trek did it.

We need a proper Pacific Rim 2 under Guillermo del Toro, not the shitshow that was Uprising. As is, Pacific Rim 3 will never be a thing if the second one is still Uprising. No shade to Steven S. DeKnight and cast of Uprising, but really, it lacked the spirit of the first film.

If Pacific Rim "2" would happen i want it to focus on the Start of the Jaeger Program and it begins with Brawler Yukon and all of the Jaegers are all Mark 1's

DeKnight's direction was very weak, especially in comparison to Del Toro. DeKnight didn't seem to even know what to do with the franchise at all.

Simple write a good script instead of crap....same thing happened to Hell Boy....the got rid of Del Torro....Pacific Rim Black was good...use that direction.

there are those masculine, tough matured dudes and hot girls, and adult dramas in previous movie. then here bunch of kids and comedians with unrealistic and pointless dramas, also the storyline is more confusing rather than mysterious.

Pacific rim uprising is such a failure, it disgusted me, it is a monument of shame of modern movie industry.

Uprising was garbage because they had to appease the Chinese investors and edit the story with an unnatural plot where they had to make the Chinese character the hero. If the Chinese investors stayed out of the story making and let Del Toro do his magic, it would have been an awesome movie, just like Pacific Rim 1

Director, cast, and storyline all failed together

The writing for the second movie was horrible, plus the formula of nothing new on the second movie. It's like Independence Day, great initial movie horrible second movie. The third script has to go to the Precursor world, has to should our own biological kaijus with mechs, should have a third entity - just to have the chaotic behavior of 3 bodies problem - yeah I know, not used in the Physics way. Or maybe it was?? The time twist is dumb, not necessary and very constraining. Better to go "vague universe". Is it our's, another?, alternate? Future? Past?

Uprising was Garbage

HAH! HAAAAH! Streaming services being the key to a successful sequel! HAH! Jesus Christ you really believe that? And Netflix anime have been notorious for bombing. Inconsistent schedules, early cancelations, low quality efforts, paywalls often blocking viewing. Like as common entertainment, I'd rather just pirate and choose what I want to watch on demand with no ADs none of this gnat or parasitic behavior to take advantage of the viewer.
