Island Sanctuary would be amazing if they just took what Animal Crossing New Horizons did and put it into FF14. Let us make up an island and all that, and then invite people to it. Let them come into my island and leave comments. Make it a social interaction. Give us items we can trade with one another from island to island. Giving us minor incentives and then step the hell away.
@krysaltepsyr8134
@krysaltepsyr8134 Год назад
You can technically bring friends to your island. You have to be there, you have to have them as a friend, FC member or in your party, but you can. And it's only 15 people at a time. As someone who designed my island to be a social space I was very upset when I found this out. I wish they had a more public island visiting system and allowed more people into our islands.

I would prefer a giant island open to everybody to work together as a team to make it habitable for the people of garlean so they can start a new life or produce food for them.. I'm afraid the direction this game is taking, I feel like I'm playing a single player game instead of a MMO

i think a lot of people forget the differences of being a content creator vs not. if you are a hardcore players that plays every day streams every day you are definitely going to run out of things to do unless you get creative. ffxiv coomer bait is everywhere like in this video. lol avy i still love you. i noticed a lot say normal content is piss easy and not as engaging but then im always reminded of the groups i get...... no offense to others but tanks not using mits, healers only spamming their base heal and dps constantly getting hit and only doing their 123 is my norm. ill tell you if you ever want a challenge, heal or tank those groups. I've had a roulette run where the healer died every boss fight. i felt bad for them tbh but as a tank its pretty fun trying to keep you and dps alive without healer. idk i think the criticisms are valid but they all come from very biased subjective points of view. maybe im in a minority but ive been loving my time ffxiv. being able to help and teach new players and make friends makes me not care about anything else

For me personally, if I were to quit the game, it would be because of the community. In recent years, more and more trans/gay/weeb players have started playing, and 99.99% of them are total casuals or role-players who don't care to learn. They also get offended so easily, which is really frustrating

I just always feel like people are exaggerating and being to extreme when they say everyone is leaving, I mean it always felt natural to me for people to slowly take breaks in post patch content in every expansion and they all come back and then some next expansion, it's like when people are allowed to play other games, I feel like the people that are shouting that people are leaving are still used to how games like wow played where taking a break or playing other games was discouraged.

I mean you can just look at census data and see that the biggest "leave wave" was around 20% of players who didnt reach endwalker and it happened during the period of new zelda game and ff16 followed up by bg3. At the same time 3% of the "veterans" bracket quit. For an allegedly dying game that everyone is leaving it somehow maintained 75-85% retention rate in a genre where 60% is already a huge success.

I hear this "the game is dying, players are leaving" topic a lot from just about EVERY MMORPG, and the major reason is simple: The game ends (even though the tagline for MMO's is that the game never ends) if you don't raid, or do end game content, eventually you catch up to the latest expansion, finish it, get bored grinding alt jobs or new classes, and just stop because naturally, you're finished. This is even more amplified in Endwalker, as it is the END of the current story. I feel like a lot of the Solo content was put in to give non-raiders a reason to stay longer, and I'm very grateful for it. If you do raid and do hardcore content, you stick around longer, but eventually you still get bored and stop, or burn yourself out and stop. Player retention 100% is impossible for any game. Once 7.0 comes out, people will flock back in droves for a brief time. FFXIV is not a traditional MMO, it relies heavily on the story, and the story is Solo only content. I feel like it's unfair to class the game as a pure MMORPG and expect that people will stay playing the game indefinitely, because it just doesn't offer that experience. All in all, people leaving for a bit is NOT going to kill the game, or even harm the atmosphere at all, because for all we know, the majority of the players leaving are ex WoW people who jumped on Asmongolds shaft and have an attention span of 13 seconds.

the main issue i see is that the vocal people that keep complaining about EW are those that reached a "tipping point" after the ShB delays, longer patches and, let's face it, simply an addiction to the game. They ended up finishing all their checklists after all this time and now "there's nothing to do". I'm not a raider, just casually enjoying the game patch to patch while I work on older content here and there (an Eureka weapon, some Bozja grind, some leveling...) and after almost 2 years of playing I still haven't run out of things to do. See, I have the opposite opinion with the new optional content. I LIKE that it's completely optional with purely non-mechanical rewards. One of the biggest draws of FFXIV to me is the fact that very little is 'mandatory' and that you can keep up with the game with minimal time investment and explore features at your own pace without falling behind. It makes everything feel less pressured and more easy-going, especially for people with less time to spare, and lets me take breaks when I feel like it without crushing my ability to keep up with new content. I would be MISERABLE if they tied relics to Variant Dungeons, or put End Game gear behind it (both suggestions that I've seen), because then, I'd not be doing it for fun, or even for the thrill; I'd be doing it because I'd feel I have to. I'm not enjoying the content, I'm grinding the content, and that's the fastest way to kill my desire to play. One of the biggest mistakes in WoW's design was how much you had to do to keep up and feel like you were 'keeping pace' with the game. FFXIV has so far managed to dodge that, and I would hate to see that disappear because people pushed for more and more intrinsic, mechanical rewards, and raising the minimum time investment required to keep pace.

We need more stories that end without being wrapped up in a neat little bow and directly leading into the next story, or we won't have enough meaningful background to build future expansions off of. So to "finish" one, single class, you have to run it over 100times. An expert roulette gives 140 in comparison. From hearing all these opinions and points(many fair and reasonable points) for weeks about Endwalker, but I just don't feel majority people fully understand what it is like to play a video game, let alone a MMORPG. compared to how it was in the early 2000s The idea of these games are to mostly "Have Fun" and 'Escape from reality' into a Fantasy that may not be so Final. One thing i want to bring up is that mistakes will happen as they are testing/trying new things to see what people mostly enjoy. The Devs do care and want to make sure everyone is just enjoying themselves. But if players do enjoy the big grinds and such, i am sure there is still much more to grind for. Not all want to be part of huge scale instance content like Eureka and Bozja. so they are adding things that small-scale people can enjoy and always come back to to fill in that gap without that pressure. Heck, we have New Game + to go experience that story again as much as we want to. Those who do want more large Scale multiplayer aspects, its best to just enjoy Eureka and Bozja until a new one appears. The Devs usually hear those that complain the most and it usually turned the tides of what type of content we got and changed how things were connected. Worse that the pandemic and the team working on FF16 affected a good majority of that creative thinking and caused so much stress for everyone involved, including the Devs. Another thing about how things have been dried up or boring, that i fully understand since we all have our own individual standards. We can always play another game for that standard alone of course. But Games are made for the sake of the experience, not always about the gains/rewards. I feel like that is all we see in MMOs or games in general nowadays. I dare not claim that all expectations are very high but many have caused people to get upset, disappointed and jaded further down the road of this MMO. Talking about 'why people are leaving FFXIV' won't really fully help the problem nor needs to be even said. Most Toxic-Overthinking People will usually get the wrong idea about the game itself dying, being a "big fail", or the 'Devs never cared'. That type of talk will spread to gullible others and they, in turn, will think the game is falling under hard. It is never easy managing a big MMO, nor is it ever easy pleasing everyone. I decided to finally speak about this situation because of how slightly overblown its getting. so lastly, I'll say this: Endwalker is just adding to the game, its not suppose to Overcome or "Do Better" than the last expansion nor do i think Dawntrail should follow that standard either. Games are made for fun and people would replay much older and dated games for much less back then. Sadly, majority of people just want more of This and That in a *perfect* balance. Time has truly changed a lot of us or I am stuck in the past. (I understand that you pay a monthly sub for more but the rules should/could apply when playing any type of game) Thank you so much for taking your time reading all of this. "We love grinding" ... uh, under _certain conditions_ I suppose? The grind must be designed well. The thing that you are DOING during the grinding needs to be fun and engaging. The grind can't have HUGE gaps between rewards or steps of rewards, and the grind shouldn't demand and devour all of your time, and ideally there should be a variety of what you do during the grinding. This is why Tomestone grinding is perfect. Once per day, 3-5 days per week, you log on and do whatever roulettes you wish to get your 450/wk. If you do Expert and nothing else, it's 5 days. If you do the whole assortment of roulettes, you can snip it down to about 2.5 days. If you don't like a certain type of roulette, you can skip it but that means more days per week. Also, Alliance Raid content. Once per week, you log on and do your Alliance Raids to get the upgrade tokens and/or any gear drops you are interested in. You'll come back next week and do it again. Examples of grinds that I hate: Eureka. Killing stuff over and over and over again for progress you lose if you die, forced grouping without auto-matchmaking, and weather conditions for some mobs' spawning which could potentially have you waiting *HOURS* for the conditions to be right for something to spawn is just not fun. Falling asleep as your group around you murders 500 mobs trying to get a FATE to pop, only so you can get some thingies and some XP that you will lose if you die isn't fun IMO. Another example of content I hate? Trying to get the sightseeing log done. "Oh, this sightseeing spot requires you to go here, and do some emote you don't know what it is, at a certain weather that might pop for 5 minutes out of every RL day" ... uh, no, hard pass on that. Sitting in some area twiddling my thumbs isn't fun. I will agree with you, though, that Variant dungeons for relics would have been _awesome._ Just think about it, they could stick pieces of the weapon in each of the branching paths. Wanna get the grip of a sword? You need to arrive at Exit A. Need the blade? go to Exit B. need the crossguard? That piece is in Exit C. Then you upgrade the weapon, and then they ask you to get magic spheres or something from the several midbosses throughout the middle of the dungeon which makes you go through the dungeons all over again (with the requirement you also finish the dungeon). Would have been awesome, I agree with you there.

And also, Island Sanctuary? You can tell when they implemented that, they were afraid of giving you any sort of tangible reward, and they put too much emphasis on automation. You should be able to go in and get your hands dirty for something to _do_ but progress is so darn slow, that automation is the ONLY way to reasonably progress. You basically turn it into another Retainer thing where you check it once a day and that's it, once you get the automation set up. I loved the first couple hours in IS, and then once it slowed down to a crawl and it was clear that the automation was the only way to progress I instantly lost interest in it, despite how hyped I was for such content. Also, customization options are sorely lacking. You'd think they would have learned from Blizzard's mistake with Garrisons some years ago but apparently not. What we needed was some customizable player housing, an island to relax on and also decorate and such to our hearts' content, and what we got was this thing where you got like 50 different options and that's it. A few buildings you can choose from some predetermined locations, and a few different customization options for each building.

Trying to explain why players 'leave' FFXIV is like trying to explain why we have recessions so regularly. It's a feature, not a bug. Yoshi has stated many times that it's okay to return with patches and expansion launches, then go play other games. The 'upside' of content like Eureka and Bozja is that is keeps players engaged when they wish to. The massive downside, ESPECIALLY during the Eureka Pagos days, is that it burns players out big time. I think it's fine that people go for other games. The login queues will be absolutely bonkers when Dawntrail releases, that's just a given. My biggest gripe with the game is that much needed features are _still_ not in, like a tackle box for fish lure and bait, a glamour catalogue to coordinate glamour without having to own it or travel to every bloody NPC selling stuff - players can target said pieces after and, wait for it... ENGAGE IN CONTENT! My biggest criticism with the game is that is has completely nuked not just my main job, but my job FANTASY. TWICE in a row. FINAL Fantasy is very tongue-in-cheek for me now for that reason.

Now, I have my sympathies over these points, however, I feel like the one thing people haven't mentioned or considered is that in the wake of the recession and inflation, there's an unspoken number of folks who have unsubbed for financial reasons. A few friends of mine had to drop because of the inflation and financial things, and tho they aren't a majority, they are more or less have to put things on a budget. yes, their final motivation for the indefinite hiatus may have been the pointers you mentioned, but more or less, the financial side of things have made it harder to keep themselves subbed even if they wanted to keep their sub or not. But I know this factor does not make for the majority of folks dropping, but it is something to note.

I understand that the years of ShB being best for XIV overall in comparison to EW could be a factor...yet I honestly think it's much more about the game content and philosophy behind it. The main big thing everyone can agree on and every single video take I've seen mention it, it's how everyone feels lonely in EW! The only time when I'm playing that I feel like I'm in a MMO full of people is when doing hunts, which is not new content at all. Imagine if Island Sanctuary was instead a huge group instance that you could catch animals and gather together instead of a whole empty island for yourself. Not having a relic journey or a field like bozja just makes this even more obvious. And then we start to notice other issues that were always there, but are much more visible now. I wish they'd take a few steps back from trying to make the game too soloable and start treating it like an MMO again. I remember several interviews these last years of YoshiP being worried that single-player FF fans were scared to try XIV, but I think they've gone too far with those concerns and now the MMO playerbase feels neglected. Also, I'm happy to see more and more content creators talk about their respectful criticism towards EW! That's the best way to make the game even better. It always feels like everyone is SO SCARED of talking badly about the game, but I think it's important to undestand that being critical of the game now doesn't mean hating on it. Thanks for sharing your take

See what you've built! So you could see what OTHER people could build! Set up a system for if someone sets their island to a public setting so people can visit it from the ferryman! Then again, if they did that, it'd show that SE can do this with houses and just haven't.... ._.

Gamers, and especially content creators, really need to be careful of how they use "grinding". Developers hear this and think you mean "I want to spend a long time doing X for Y". When in reality what is meant is "I want to feel like I genuinely earned Y after doing the appropriate challenge X". I bring this up because of a game called Destiny 2. When it first launched, everyone complained how they had nothing to "grind" for. Well Bungie listened and turned the entire game into a plantati*cough* grind fest. I don't want that in FFXIV or any game. Not saying you do, but be clear of what you want for it can easily be taken this way. But yeah overall good video.

A couple of things here. First, I agree about the Variant/Criterion dungeons. I feel like the one thing they need to do here is simply provide a better, more incentivized reward structure to make it more enticing for replay ability. I do not think that the devs “didn’t think about” Variant/Criterion dungeons. I honestly think they did. Likely, they were weighing a lot here: they didn’t want hear rewards that disrupted the current iLvl gear treadmill, they didn’t want the same type of rewards from the Series PvP Malmstones, and they also are treading new waters and wanted to get a glimpse of the reception the core content received. I don’t think it was handled the best, but I also don’t think they “didn’t consider” it properly. Next, I see a lot of people complaining about how there is no Bozja/Eureka/Zadnor in the 6.X cycle. First, back in ShB, people complained about no deep dungeon content. Next, I have issues with all 3 explorable zones (e.g., it was too in-depth with its various skills/abilities to gain, Eureka was too tied to the relic weapon, Bozja/Zadnor had the savage alliance raid, which I wanted to do but could never get into a group who does it, etc.). I see a lot of out of context posting about this subject, where they forget/did not know how much people complained for both explorable content areas (e.g., the Eureka area was too tied to relic weapons, Bozja/Zadnor wasn’t tied enough to relic weapons, Bozja/Zadnor had dull scenery, Bozja/Zadnor has 0 content life with EW release [which it does based on the updates], etc.). I have trouble accepting this “criticism” because it seems to not consider any historical context. Next, the relic grind not being a grind. This is actually not accurate. People forget (again) the entire EW relic grind was locked behind all of Hildibrand. Just to start the quest, you needed to go through all that quest content back to ARR. For some people, this was a lot because they did not enjoy that story content. Essentially, you’re doing a lot of up front grinding with this one. So yes, yes there is grinding here; I realize some people were already caught up, but not everyone who wanted to get their relics were. Finally, a BIG thing many creators are not talking about is the release of so many other good games that is honestly pulling player retention. Remember, FFXIV was NEVER intended to be a game that pulls all your attention like WoW. I know many WoW players are abused because of this, but FFXIV is not built this way. With the encouragement to take breaks (as is common in the post-expansion content cycle), we have to remember some fairly big and popular titles dropped this year: Tears of the Kingdom, Hogwarts Legacy, FFXVI, Baldur’s gate 3, Armored Core 6, Starfield, etc. yes, many people play MMOs for the social/group aspect, but many of us are also just gamers: we’ll play the games we want to when they release. There is a lot of active game content to indulge in and it has drawn a lot of people away from FFXIV. Many WoW refugees realized the benefit of trying other games so even they don’t fit that model they used to (and to suggest many people are going back to WoW now because of the silence is inaccurate; Blizzard has failed over and over past their harassment issues). I know I have taken breaks from FFXIV to try other titles in the last 9 months. And, with the relief from the pandemic, I find I have even less time for games in general. This is something not discussed often enough. Say what you will about the EW post-expansion cycle: like it, hate it, be indifferent, whatever. I like it, I have PLENTY to do with my group of friends, there is no lack of content in this area. I applaud FFXIV for trying new functions like Variant/Criterion/Island Sanctuary. People were wildly complaining about not getting ANYTHING new back in ShB. Now that they tried something, the devs are getting harangued for not doing it to everyone’s specifications. The devs are now and always in a damned if you do/damned if you don’t situation. Not all of their content jives with me, but that’s fine. I appreciate how FFXIV is trying to be for everyone and not for a 3-tier group like WoW (raiders, PVPers, and Mythic+).

Watching Hildibrand counts as *The* grind? What? Also last ShB relic made Stormblood alliance raids the prerequisite requirement to start the relic. So yeah, not really getting the point there. At least that was More Fun of a grind, even if you count it that, than watching some boring side quest. I personally did feel the drought during all of ShB but I still had hours of fun doing 48 man raids and stuff but Endwalker just couldn’t do innovative compared to fun like that. I personally think that’s not okay when paying $12+ a month.
@greyknight627
@greyknight627 Год назад
@@eimpty Comparing the ShB relic to EW in this capacity is weird. I already said it, EW relics demand a lot of up front grind. To do everything you need to entails a lot of quests, raids, and many, many hours of cutscenes. Yes, you can skip those, but the same is true for SB; comparing the two, even if you want to argue that you can just skip the cutscenes, EW still have many hours of pre-requisites to get through before you can even start the relics in EW, SB is much more condensed by comparison. And no, I never said grind as though that's it, it's just a major portion of it. The common complaint back when they announced the Hildibrand prerequisite was that the amount of a time sink to get caught up, especially when you didn't like the story, was a huge ask for many people. Next, $12 a month is worth it when you consider all the content being released on a regular schedule and the variety of content they release. Lest we forget, by comparison, WoW went nearly 3/4s to a full year without meaningful content updates during Shadowlands. What you personally describe is just anecdotal. I acutely remember everyone complaining that Bozja/Zadnor was a dumbed down version of Eureka in terms of the functionality of skills, progression, and necessity for other game features (e.g., the relic) and that its relic progression would kill it as content (which it never did). You liked that ShB content, okay fine, but the consensus at the time of that content cycle was very similar to what we see now with EW. People complained the ShB relic was hardly grindy at all (citing the same exact arguments we see today): it's supposed to be rewarding to get your relic after all the effort (even though with Eureka it was worse and has been proven statistically to be the least sought after relic to-date), we need more grinds to keep us invested (even though everyone and their mother agrees the game should not go the WoW route and force you to play every day), the relic does not promote enough group/interactive elements with other players [even though nearly all of the major milestones required group content, and it's all neatly wrapped up in a bow by the logic people constantly bring up: the relic is just optional side-content, and at the end of the day they are just shiny glam since it's only BiS until the next expansion. I have literally gotten $12 a month worth of content out of my subscription for the past 7 years. I haven't done nearly everything the game has to offer, and I am still working towards completion on many avenues of the game I don't have time to focus on when a main-expansion drop happens.

agree 100% on all of your points I would add: Rich Campbell's sexual misconduct and subsequent firing from OTK, I believe was a huge problem for the community. It may seem strange to talk about one particular player having such an impact, but I really do think he was a major reason Asmon never streamed the game again (besides Asmon's family situation when his mom passed and he took an extended break, and only came back for a day to get the Regalia mount). I do think you hit the nail on the head though: Blizzard's own sexual misconduct and ridiculous follow-up campaign caused this huge swarm of players to play 14. I wouldn't be surprised if that caused the devs to become overconfident, especially since the pandemic really put a stop to a lot of game development between 2021 and 2022, and then when Yoshi-P (and so many of his own 14 devs) took over 16, a lot of the drive for the devs to really listen to the community dried up, not so much because they didn't want to but perhaps were humanly incapable of focusing on two enormously large games at the same time. Other big streamers also left, and some of the biggest streamers actually became variety streamers (Zepla is a good example) due to not really having much to do in the game. I myself stopped playing (although I still have an active sub), but almost everyone in my FC basically ghosted the game after finishing EW content, and my FC was historically one of the oldest and largest FCs in the game. I'm continually surprised they didn't implement an actual zone for grinding relics. After Eureka, and then Bozja, I fully expected another zone given how popular both of those were and continue to be. I hadn't finished Shadowbringers when Bozja became available and I always wished I could have played that when it was popular, so not having a zone to grind out mindlessly in EW was a big reason why I never logged in that much.

(Warning: some spoilers) I feel a bit disappointed in 14 right now tbh. Dawntrail is basically starting without any defined overarching evil, which is fine, but meanwhile they handled the 13th with content patches. I was really excited when 6.1 revealed that the next arc would concern the void, I figured 6.2-6.5 would be setting up for the next expansion to be an adventure in the 13th like Shadowbringer was an adventure in the 1st. The 13th had so much history and so much potential for a unique adventure and an engaging storyline and they just kind of treated it like a side thing. We didnt even fix it or anything, we basically just left Zero to deal with it and sealed the portal so we cant even go back. I feel so let down by how the 13th was wrapped up that I cant even get hyped for Dawntrail like I did for ShB and EW.

Don't worry about the Void not being prominent in an actual expansion. If you think about the 6.1-6.5 quest being setup for a future thing similar to the Warrior of Darkness storyline in Heavensward, it points to us returning to help Zero out eventually, whenever a threat that needa us to be there again pops up. When the Warrior of Darkness stuff was first going on it kinda felt like random filler too, and it wasn't elaborated on until 2 expansions after. As for a big bad, I'm not sure, but I get the feeling they'll aim for some sort of inter-Shard war of some sort. Considering the one thread connecting post Endwalker with Dawntrail is Yshtola's want to travel the shards, it would make a lot of sense for the next big threat to make use of that same method somehow.

I still don't understand why people are actively asking for grindy content to keep them playing, but I am gonna be here when they add something like that and people start complaning there's too much mindless grinding. It's like people forgot what Relic grinds actually were. You didn't run Bozja for your memories. You'd do FATEs in Heavensward areas, The Antitower and Hell's Lid. Over.. and over.. and over. You'd run Bozja for those horrible one time grinds, forcing you to run around that zone for 6 hours waiting for Criticals or Delubrum to spawn, doing the same ones again and again. Bozja wasn't exactly as universally well recieved as people seem to remember. Now I get to play pretty much anything and still progress my Relic, and this is a bad thing? Hell, I can actually run Variant to progress my Relic, it's a fairly good Tomestone farm that you can solo. It's like everyone collectively has some sort of memory lapse. I distinctly remember when the WoW exodus was in full swing the main selling points people kept touting about the game were NO GRINDS and EVERYTHING IS OPTIONAL. "Just do what you want to do!". Fast forward 1,5 years and now this is suddenly killing the game. Perhaps these players should give WoW a shot, it sounds like they just don't like what FFXIV provides and might really like that game.

The sad thing is, like she said in the video, they could have just tied the relic weapon grind to running varient/criterion dungeons (and I'd personally say the deep dungeon too) and they would have fixed the lack of grind and lack of regard criticisms at the same time.

Its almost the end of the addon. It's normal. A lot of world of warcraft refugees that joined endwalker shortly before the release left. The addon is good, content is good, its fine. People always tend to overreact over stuff like saying "ALL people leave ff14" .. Yeah thats why every city is crowded so much that i cant see new npc's with quests. People dont know what a "bad expansion" in FF14 really is. They should have played Battle for Azeroth back then... THIS was horrible and MoP or Dragonflight isnt good either. But every single FF14 extension is fine so far.

I rather appreciate the ability to solo content because, some days, my social anxiety makes it so hard to interact with my own fc mates. Also, I log in at a time of day where most people aren't even online so trying to queue with anyone? The queue ends up being 30 minutes or sometimes up to hours...it's deflating not being to enjoy content when no one either wants to do it, you wait an annoying amount of time in queue, lose out on gear drops to need/greed, or the most annoying is akin to what happened with a very specific msq where people peer pressure you to skip cutscenes. I still do queued content but it breaks, BREAKS, my heart hearing someone apologize for not having skipped the cutscene. Sure, solo run isn't for everyone, and I don't do it often, but for first-time clears? It's fantastic. I can enjoy the dungeon at my pace, have the joy of fighting alongside my favorite npcs, and not feel bad or guilty when I mess up a mechanic. Because, wow, I don't know this fight and never done it before and the people I queued with somehow expect me to have better gear and know what I'm doing. Sorry for long rant, but I do like playing ffxiv as if it's a solo mmo experience. I can enjoy the story without stress and be able to nab my favorite friends if I need help clearing something. I also wish they'd let us run older raids with npcs, because no one ever wants to run that stuff with me. Newer? Nah, keep it to groups but the older ones? Cmon. 😢

For free? The relics aren't free. You still need to grind the tomes. Yes there needed to be more but they are hardly free. Also, MORE solo friendly content please yes. I want to earn my own god damn power before helping and having fun with friends. I get why some people wanted more in the post endwalker patches maybe an extra trial and dungeon as optional content not actually in the msq. That would be great. What I find to be the case with anyone I know who played and had taken a break or stopped for now is just it feels like a lull after the story and this set of raids hasn't grabbed me storywise. Also theres a factor of burn out in longer term players but this always happens. Also its good that we didn't get another sectioned off, seperate leveling system area. I have hated both of them. Sure if you want to add it for players that like that fine, but actually make it a fun system, not so tedious and annoying as Bozja and Eureka was. AND certainly not tie the relics to it again. I hate that. Means I can't do my relics without putting up with that BS.

Think they went with easier relic quest this time because some people complained about places like Eureka and Bozja grinds. Some players not being able to get to the next phase of Bozja stuff because after some others finished the CLL or Dalriada, or the instance dungeon/raid (forgot what it was called) to unlock Zadnor. It was difficult for others to do it. Still is. So some players were being cut out of getting their relic weapons. Sure Bozja stuff has picked up, a bit since then (Minus the instance dungeon). But I have seen a lot of people complaining about not being able to further their relics because there was no one doing things like CLL and Dalriada. Even going to forums asking for changes to the two and asking for changes and involvement of NPC's in place of other players. I have even jumped into both zones where the number of players in the instances have been about 15 - 20 players, again, the numbers have improved a bit as of late, but still. I can't really fault SE for changing up their relic quest to give more player the opportunity to get one.

I don't think FF14 should cater to raiders because they are not who make the game feel alive ultimately. They're away in their own instances doing their own thing and not really participating in the other social aspects of the game, which long term isn't great for it's health. I feel that in EW we lack incentives to do anything, literally anything. I myself am a raider and I pug, last tier I got my weapon day 2 or 3 of the drops and just quit. I had no reason to continue playing the game at all, and I was very much looking forward to the new relic weapons and obtaining them. But once I heard I had to do Hildebrand I immediately lost all interest and if I'm honest I'll probably never do them. Shadowbringers is the best expansion, however it's because of it's structure. Each Shadowbringer story is self contained with as beginning, middle and end. I've been very unhappy with the state of healers (and tanks I guess) since Shadowbringers, and as EW has concluded the story, I've no reason to put up with it any further. Until they give healers (and tanks) a distinctive core with some actual depth, and trimming the excessive fluff, I will not be resubbing, nor buying any further expansions. I'll still come play during free logins, but that will be it. I do not enjoy the Shadowbringers design paradigm. It was okay for an expansion and it peaked in Bozja. But they've doubled down on it for Endwalker, and the retrofitted most of ARR, HW, and soon StB to fit, erasing their design identities, and frankly making the game worse.
