You’re not getting better at pushups because you’re TOO SCARED to regress…
Getting good at pushups comes from MASTERING every single regression.
That is going to take a hit to your ego… because the fitness world has deemed pushups to be this thing that everyone should just be able to do… that’s HORRENDOUSLY false, by the way.
Start by mastering Bench Pushups. And by mastery, we’re talking FULL RANGE touching your chest to the bench EVERY REP. When you can string together consistent sets of 10 reps at least, you’re ready for Level 2.
Level 2 is the knee pushup. Knees on the ground, and aiming diagonally down and forward, TOUCHING YOUR CHEST, then pushing up and back. One again, work your way up to nailing 3+ sets of 10 reps with this level before moving on.
Level 3 is the HYBRID pushup, which I like to think of as “knees on, knees off”. You start by going down SLOWLY without your knees on the ground, to a 3 second count. Touch your chest, then put your knees ON the ground, then push back up and repeat.
When you get good at those, eventually you’ll be able to TRULY knock out pushups without your knees, with QUALITY form and NO EGO!
This is what it takes. Good pushups are hard to do. And getting strong at pushups is a long and strenuous journey. But the good news is you have your whole life to GET GOOD. But it starts with doing things RIGHT!
Love always,
