Jerome Meinie-Hollywood is and has always been a greed powered meat grinder that cares for no one but a little nepotism. Just like the old music biz Its a business that eats its young. Its not right to mistreat anyone but when i hear actors/actresses being prima donnas i have to sympathize a bit. Here today- gone today.
How the fuck do you think he made his money are you kidding me, the dude is a has been period, the only movies he does is comedy & can't name one drama movie he was in.
The 1983 Delirious is great but i personally prefer Eddie Murphy RAW from 1987 myself! it edges out Delirious just a tad for me. "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR ME LATELY" and Johnny giving up half his sh*t, lol too much for words!
ChristianIce Agreed, Mr. Church was understated and emphasized themes that are not popular today. People with struggles who choose to support the ones they love even while disagreeing with them. Loyalty and respect!
What a nice chilled attitude...have a career, semi retire, play the guitar in your living room. Well done. I agree about not playing Cosby. Better just to leave it alone.
CandyGrooves Maybe horrible to your account, but in real life this happens all the time. What if one of your family member was dying, but someone was there to help them to the end. Don't think you would be saying horrible. Would you?
I liked it & it has 7.7 on IMDb but it also has a pedofile overtone - SPOILERS a man comes round everyday & cooks & talks to a schoolgirl in her uniform whilst her mom is sick in bed for years. Noone else is in the house. In the end the girl moves in with the man.
The Greatest Debator in the World One must have quite a fucked up mind in the first place to think this movie has any pedofile tones. At no point you see any type of weird tension, atmosphere, between the two. I actually loved that movie because it's refreshing to see a movie so light, simple, real and far from any perversion. Even when he comes home drunk, you'd think he could talk to her in a wrong way or something but no he swears and trashtalk with himself but he respectfully go to his bed( then she help him on his way).
So did I the first time, though I can't fathom for the life of me today how I EVER laughed at it even as a kid. I recently re-watched it and literally never chuckled EVEN ONCE. There's just nothing funny about it to me, at all. The story is painfully cliched, the characters all annoying or stupid, the humor always either flat or mostly racist. If there's an Oscar-level award in the Razzie category, this movie definitely should've won in 2007, hands down. Granted, I can laugh at offensive and stupid humor, but it just didn't work one bit in this case. I'd never be smug to or insult anyone who enjoys *Norbit*, people can like what they want. But whatever I once saw in it, I have NO IDEA.
I watched the clip, in it, he said when I reach 50 Im done, so basically he made some movies, did some wonderful standup, he saved some money and his royalities are nice, so he sists back and do pretty much nothing. How do I know and I never met him. I just saw him say it, so no need to really guess or come up with so many different reasons, heres one, "when I reach 50 Im done"
It's really refreshing to see a celebrity who doesn't NEED attention, and knows how lucky they are to be able to do anything they feel like doing without the pressures normal people face every day. We always hear about the cautionary tales from Hollywood, but rarely get to see people who haven't let their fame go to their head.
I don't know how people don't just see things for what they are, with almost every big comedian celeb like jim carrey, eddie murphy ect. have all starred in classic movies, high rated, masterpieces, then in their latter years, they make "check movies" like eddie was talking about, lets not discredit them as a actor and a person because of their "check movies", we need to put the two into separate categorizes, and those categories have to be recognized.
Looper is, mostly, only about 50% right. Doing "some work" doesn't really work past his interview -there- because *Beverly Hills Cop 4* is _announced_!.. It's on his iMDB page @www.imdb.com/name/nm0000552/ *Edit*: && various other sources, too: variety.com/2016/film/news/beverly-hills-cop-4-directors-eddie-murphy-1201795498/
Zultar Truth i saw a thousand words on tv a few months ago. and it starts of promisingly enough but by the end your going why eddie why did you sign up for this.
Mr Church is great movie imo and on IMDB has a score of 7.7/10 which is really good, so screw the negative review from so called reviewers. People I know who watched the movie liked it...
his movie life with Martin Lawrence will always be my fav movie "upper rooom" but eddie murphy, adam sandler and jim carry back in the day kept hollywood on their toes they will forever be my childhood fav holy grail comedians of all time
I recently caught all of Murphy's movies and he did well. He proved smart in the end. Was sorry to hear about his brother however. I believe that there are many in Hollyweird who are always upset when men of color successfully end up well in life. You need to stop blacklisting black men! They've done what so many of you have done in a variety of ways to get where you are today. Some better than yourselves. Worked side by side, raised famalies, bought homes in the same neighborhoods... Now living their lives. Leave it/him alone!! Congrats Mr. Murphy.
Actually, Eddie has a new movie coming out called Mr. Church. It looks very good. I for one want to see it. I'm glad he's coming back to the big screen.
He has a hot model in his life why would he want to work? Seriously he's the funniest man in the world EVER but he deserves to be retired and happy. Thanks for all the laughs Eddie. Your the BEST
Why is he retired? Seriously? If you had more money than you were likely ever going to spend and didn't have to do anything you didn't want to do for the rest of your life you would be retired to.
He doesnt want to taint his career any longer. He knows that the movies that he has been doing recently were bad and he said he´s not in it for the pay checks anymore.
Exactly. He knows he can do more work just for money but he doesn't need to so he's choosing not to. If I could walk away from needing to do a regular job to pay the bills because that was all covered and only had to focus on doing what I want to do I would quit working too.
I miss this man so much 😔 he was definitely one of the funniest humans ever. I even loved his flops, meet dave, imagine that and a thousand words, they wernt the best films ever but they were still enjoyable
R.I.P To his older brother Charlie Murphy... And for those of you that didn't know. Eddie Murphy himself has Cancer. I hope you pull through Eddie, I hope you pull through.
90% of his movies were good. These people just follow what cornball, phony hipsters think. No one in Hollywood, connected to Hollywood or trying to be in Hollywood thinks anything without approval. There are very few OGs in the industry but Murphy is beyond OG status, he's an icon. And, I love Pluto Nash too.
I was about to say maybe he got old and just wanna step back and enjoy the rest of his life. I love the man and he has done more than enough to entertain us. So if he wants to stop then I support him... I’m gonna miss him though.
I'm one of the rare few who actually likes Mr. Church and thought Norbit wasn't THAT bad lol. People might say I'm crazy, but you're right. I AM crazy. But you know what else? IDGAF!!!! lolol *~Veracity In Defiance~* NEW TRACK!!! "People Over Profit" by Con Rome feat. The Ultimate Rage & T.J. Love soundcloud.com/conrome/p-o-p-people-over-profit-ft?
The Ultimate Rage Mr Church was ok. I even liked Pluto Nash. Not for the story line but because it had enough action and a few funny moments just enough to get u through
actually i found Mr Church extraordinary good movie because i knew Eddie only as a comedian and in that movie i saw his dramatic side which was brilliant . I don't get why people didn't appreciate this movie much , but i guess is a matter of taste .
The entertainment industry is always full of surprises. Eddie Murphy is certainly full of surprises, too. He's not in retirement, just in the stage of wanting to be normal and not worry about the pressures of stardom. When he's ready, I'm sure Eddie Murphy will entertain us and make us laugh once again.
Eddie Murphy one of the most talented comedians ever, I really enjoy the movies where he plays multiple characters he is a real stickler for catching the finer nuances of each one that he performs.
Eddie Murphy was and still is a legend. I wish we could've seen a Beverley Hills Cop 4 to finish up the trilogy. There was so much potential. I hope we can see Eddie in another stand-up movie at least.
that made him all that money, what the fuck are you talking about, the only reason he's out is no parts for him he is a has been & plenty more of them, I always laugh when I hear shit like this, his time was the 80's, as far as big parts & big budget movies not happening for him, & besides he just a fucking actor no biggie.
I only knew edddie Murphy from dr. Do little and norbit so I always thought he was corny till I saw his delirious and raw stand up. It was like he was a Completely different person back then funny as hell. I have new found respect for him
Wetdookie Eddie Murphy is considered one of the greatest comedians of all time. I dont know how old you are or what rock you was living under, but you really need to see his complete body of work
