One of the toughest situations for me to figure out is how to lead in a relationship with a woman who is very independent and even shows signs of avoidant attachment.

I am definitely guilty of trying to be perfect before dating, but now I'm going out more and making the time to date! I think like most things in life, dating is just a skill that we need to hone through time and experience.

I think the dynamics masculine/feminine and leading in dating is an issue. But I also I think it's rooted in some lack of certain life skills that are a must and have nothing to do with dating, they come before dating.

I find it difficult now. I never dated at all or kiss a woman being a 22 year old virgin. I think one of the issues I have is I been putting dating on the back burner I always put other things first. And people always ask me why I'm not dating or that I'm not that bad looking. I just really never took action for my dating life. Another reason is that I haven't really approached women in public I feel like that is my best bet besides online dating. I do take care of my hygiene and dress game. And I recently decided to get a new hair cut style.

from what i've noticed over the years, 25 seems to be the panic age button, or the magic age number in which it is a turning point, people really start to panic if they are either still a virgin or never dated, never had a relationship

Tried a relationship to see what the hubbub was about during high school. My impression it was meh, kissing was fun and honestly it could have gone further if I had wanted but I didn't desire to be that manipulative. Shortly after I broke it off and haven't tried it again, granted no girls have interested me enough to approach or desire a potential relationship with them. I view everyone very neutrally generally, physical beauty doesn't phase me much more interested in something deeper. Growing up feeling like a robot or a monk was annoying and can still be.

I'm also in the career focused and self-improvement category, but have had girlfriends before just admittedly not the highest quality. So, improve to get better returns right? Well, I'm thinking maybe family isn't such a bad thing to think about, but at least some fun on the side wouldn't hurt for now.

Right now I'm feeling like I'm too aware of where I need to heal that I'm starting to tread onto "unworthy" territory, partially taking the form of "I can't do this" (i.e. keep a girlfriend, though I've never gotten one before). I'm not sure why lack of finances haven't gotten me to that point before, as I'm aware that nice things are never free - could I advance a relationship with, like, merely walks in the park? We both would have dreams that cost money. 😛 (Having to rely on hand-me-downs from clothing drives is why I finally understand how pieces of clothing could make you look fat.) On top of that, depression robs you of your energy and motivation. I'm hiding behind COVID, I'll own up to that. Maybe I don't have to be Mr. Perfect, but being Mr. Good Enough seems further out of reach now.
