Here's the real reason your photography business isn't growing - And the 3 questions you need to ask yourself to turn it around TODAY. It's not what most people expect...
GROW YOUR BUSINESS
shop.signatureedits.com/marke...
Inside of this photography marketing tutorial we'll be tackling the number one reason photography businesses fail to grow and succeed. It's not what 90% of photographers think it is. We get so caught up in learning how to market your photography business that you lose sight of the real reason your business exists: To serve your customers with an amazing photography session experience that turns them into raving fans.
By taking the focus OFF of instagram for photographers, facebook ads for photography bookings or social media marketing, we instead focus on the heart of our business: Our product, our service, and our customer experience.
Asking ourselves these 3 key questions to increase the quality of our service & turn our customers into our ambassadors changes everything.

When I'm working away from home, I use a 2015 15" macbook pro with 16gb of ram - So you don't NEED the brand new fancy computer... It just speeds up the performance and snappiness of Lightroom so you're not waiting so long for previews to load or images to export etc.

Very true. And so, from your experience, what are some things that add value to your services? I think about special locations, pre- and post-consultations, intentional outfits, shoot concepts that are special, unique and meaningful to the client, creating an environment where clients can actually have fun as opposed to pretending to have fun for photos, and maybe somehow telling their story to the world beyond just photos (behind the scenes, blogging, videoclips). I know some people who will create slideshows and viewings of the shoot, all while offering snacks and drinks, and showing print/album options, etc. What are your thoughts?

This is one of the best videos I've seen in a long time. I'm buying some land in the country next year. I plan to build an indoor/ outdoor studio with multiple outdoor settings. I already knew I had to make it a destination to compete with in town studios. Now, I'm thinking of what products, services, and experiences I can provide to make it over the top.

As a photographer, most of my growth as a business came through referrals and then i stopped focusing on the product na started getting worried about the marketing and then i started squandering the service which led to a decline in the referrals so i totally understand the relevancy of this video. Very interesting approach, which is pretty much where I am as a photographer. As I am at the moment doing photography as a side job, I don´t really need the income. I have done some paid jobs, a wedding, realestate etc. My main goal though at the moment is getting better and one area I am working on is the editing, especially the color tone of my pictures, making a series of pictures have a certain common look. Some wedding photographers I see on the web and whose work I admire use brownish tones or orange and tiel for example. I saw your 2.5 hour wedding edit where you are going mostly for natural colors. I am somewhat confused. How can I ad quality to my work by having a certain look in a series of pictures? Any thoughts?

Well then I don't understand what's wrong with me. I don't take the best photographs in the world but they are definitely better than what I see from most photographers in my area and beyond and the experience my clients have is exceptional. At the end of the day I think it is the prices and the importance. Everyone likes impressive photos but no one is willing to pay for them if what they want is a simple souvenir taken in the style of a tourist (stand there and smile).
@SignatureEdits
@SignatureEdits 2 года назад
Hey Peter! First off, I can relate. When I was building my business I used to get so confused because photographers I knew who I personally thought had subpar work were booking way more shoots than I was. In hindsight (at least for me) I now see two things: 1) I wasn't as good as I thought I was. At the end of the day, the customer determines what they will and won't pay for... My style of shooting just wasn't what they wanted, so even though I THOUGHT it was better, since they didn't, it didn't matter. 2) In the end, it's not about whether you price high or low or in between - It's about whether or not your target customer thinks what you're offering is worth what they'd have to trade to purchase it. Those were just two things I learned that would have helped me - Don't know if they're applicable to you because obviously I have zero clue about where you shoot, what your work looks like etc. I wish you the very best though!

@@SignatureEdits You have some good points. When I say that my photos are better than those of neighboring photographers I mean it with a certain degree of humility and I am usually brutally honest with myself. And you are right as to the clients that I must get right. If I told you that a super famous magazine gave me the opportunity, I would probably not accept it because I will not be able to take the photos they ask for because I do not have the experience and possibly the means. But I can do many other things better than the photographers in the country where I live who give away photos of tourists for pennies.

Super helpful to think through! Thank you! My turn around times are a big reason I get referrals, but also being prepared to direct my clients during shoots and taking charge on wedding days is the number 1 thing I think that wows our clients.

I see! If thats the case and clients are raving to you, then it might just mean you need to be direct and ASK them. This makes a massive difference especially for commercial work, and if they are truly thrilled, they will be happy to do so! Give it a try and lmk how it goes
