@@denmonlord its filmed in 10 milion fps but here yu see only it in 60fps...that little part of 60 frames per second is cutted from 10 milion and yu can see cracks. or 1 second of recorded video in 10 mln fps equals 46h of video~ in 60fps

It is only 60 fps or in whatever framerate this video has been shown. And I want to add i am not playing smart idiot or whoever. I am trying to make people avoid bad understanding of things.

not exactly watch light move, you can watch how fast does light reflect off of a bottle progressively, but you can't see light travelling as it is because photons need to reach the camera lens in order for you to see anything.
i'll save you guys some time. speed of crack? pretty quick. swept through my neighborhood over a period of three weeks. by that point the local chemistry teacher quit her job but was driving a new lexus, and my parents were selling my xbox for some "snacks," as they called it.

I've been watching Shimdazu's hypervision system vids for years and been pushing the Slo-mo guys to actually _use_ it for two years for their detonation work. No response. Kudos for this guy: he's the first < 1 mil subscriber to actually do so, and to first ever to use Shimadzu 10 megaframe/sec model, period.
so at that speed do you still get 7 years bad luck ? Way fun to watch! When l was a kid we used to collect the tempered glass and called it our diamonds lol
@@abyssflight3907 Slo-mo have _never_ done a 10 megaframe/sec vid. Actually, I don't know of any pop-channel owners doing it, only company productions, most of theme Shimadzua's own high-speed photography instrumentation division. The S-M guys _may_ have reached 1 million fps. They hate black and white, and 10 million/s only comes in B&W. Very few systems do color at 10^6 frames/sec.
GTIfanatic Think about it like this: You have10000000 FPS. If you slow it to .25, your previous 1 second is now 4 seconds, so you have 10000000 frames every 4 seconds, which is 2.5mil fps
I actually filmed this at 480,000 FPS a while back with Vision Research, I'll have to post it on my behind the scenes Channel later today, I forgot all about that clip.

The video ended too early! I loved learning about it, but you should have included more footage of the glass cracking! I wanted to see the whole pain break at 10,000,000 FPS.
What happens if you shoot a projectile along the glass, with a speed higher than the propagation of cracks? Would it behave similar to a supersonic effect?

As a borderline professional flintnapper, my research has concluded that concoidal fracture (45 degree) travels at about 1000 fps. ( Feet per second) when you get a good solid hit, it will come off the pice with a solid PEEEWWWW sound! Sounds like a little speeding, ricocheting bullet! What he is doing is called a face fracture. This is different. It's the same way your windshield or phone screen will break clean down the middle with a hertzian cone at the point of contact. There are multiple types of fracture. But the cracks in the h.s.r. video come from the point of contact called a hertzian cone. Look at any pice of broken glass. It will have a cone shaped direction at contact. Crazy right?
If each frame is 100 nanoseconds per second, pointing a powerful laser with a long range across a distance of 100 meters should show the light traveling, because light takes 333 nanoseconds to travel that far. Am I missing something, or would this work? Just thought it would be a cool video idea.
You did the math right, but there are some practical issues. Filming at 10M fps captures very little light per frame. Those balls were probably so brightly lit that it was hard to look at with the naked eye, yet the resulting video is almost a bit dim. To see a laser along its length, you'd need to shine though something other than clean air, but to get it bright enough to look like a beam at 10M fps seems like it would be difficult. Making matters worse, you'd have to be pretty far away to see the entire 100m length... You'd effectively have the camera at the top of a football stadium with the laser shining the length of the field. And you need the laser to be bright enough to record at 10M fps FROM THERE. So you'd have to do this with a very powerful laser in total darkness in a lightly foggy field in the middle of nowhere... and then you might get two frames where the laser beam isn't the full 100m.
@Chicken Head Just ignore the "per second" part; the post does makes sense. (At least, I assume that's what you meant by "sence".) What was your problem with "nanoseconds"? Each frame is 100 nanoseconds apart if recording at 10 million frames per second. Perhaps you should be a bit more careful with your own clarity, especially when calling out someone else.
Wow. I did not know that it would take a slow motion camera 10 million frames to second to make crack propagation on glass visible like a branches growing from a tree.
Cool thing of every hitting surface slow motion footage is, it helps to comprehend how strong the momentum of a high speed projectile is. There are lot of deformation and fracture processes going on but the projectile seems unstoppable in its movement.
