Thank you for playing with me! Your UNI videos got me into fighting games 3 years ago so I was super stoked to fight you after all this time. I hope they fix the connection issues before the game drops, but we have two agonizing months to wait regardless. Thanks again for streaming the game!
Okay, but the hypest thing that I've noticed watching this is that they made the small text that goes away too fast for anyone to read at round start EVEN SMALLER!!! HELL YES!
Doubtful….. beta was nowhere near as active with newbies as Granblu was….. no crossplay, not even between ps4 and 5. The game will sadly have a short lifespan…. Like Melty, the game just doesn’t justify a 50$ price tag… too niche, small player base and not enough content…. They need to offer a free to play version
@@jimdino77"short lifespan?" my guy, uni had an active playerbase for a decade and was constantly growing larger pre covid. what are you talking about
@@MrSabnova3415Melty unfortunately suffered from inexperience. Kamone and French Bread are great, but it was their first endeavor in GGPO/rollback net code. The launch problems in tandem with how shield worked tanked the momentum. The game is very good nowadays, but it's restricted by Type-MOON and their commitment to storytelling. Until the second half of Tsukihime comes out, it's probably just going to tread water.
@@ApexGaleDude its obvious what he means. I love the game but lets not pretend its like SF6 or a Rainbow 6 situation. You couldn't boot up the game at any hour and find matches for any skill level whenever you wanted
I think I can finally put it into words as of why I like watching UNI so much. Characters don't feel like they are held back by being put into a game because "balance". Characters that can teleport do so constantly, characters with guns just shoot the soul out of you. And the fact that like half the cast is in high school uniforms just makes it funnier.
That Hyde player's aggression and style has me rethinking my choice of a main for this game. . . . Hyde is prob the funniest fighting game protag I've ever seen. Dude literally wants none of this. His story is essentially "Can y'all just leave me alone? I have homework to finish. . . like I LITERALLY have homework to finish, so please just let me go home"
01:18:10 Merkava dropped out due to an old bug where if you hit someone with a knockdown move or a wallbounce move on the same frame as a projectile hits, the game forces a wall tech or ground tech. (which hasn't been in the game since pre-EXE:Late) Just a tidbit for those playing along at home.
The fact that every character in the beta made me say "Oh no it's this fucking guy/gal" (or oh lord what's she doing to me for Kaguya) shows good game balance imo.
Really loved the changes they made. Took me a while to get back into the swing of things but unlimited rematches made it so much easier. Was hoping for crossplay but second best is if there is a healthy playerbase on one platform
If they implement cross-play, then it have a decent time lasting, but I heard it's not, so I'm not too sure it's gonna do well. Very silly decision, tbh.
@@itsmedarneezey you're depriving yourself of an incredible game if that's your only concern. As somebody on console whose friends mostly all game on PC, I understand, but they could not keep me from playing this.
This beta was really fun, can't wait to play the game on release. hopefully I can find people around my skill level at that point because all I found were people that beat my ass like they were tenderizing me, or people that would go into cardiac arrest if they blocked on wake up.
Thank you Sajam for being average internet connection community representative. I was afraid that the netcode will be same as Lumina and it's not great.
I think some of the issues being attributed to netcode are actually a broader issue. I was playing offline versus on ps5 and we were seeing quite a few frame drops, which may be affecting the online experience as well.
Hey Sajam I'm the Kaguya in the video (WavyFLATLINE, my dad's account) and I would like to say that I am sorry for pulling the one-and-done on you. I was literally playing Kaguya for the first time against a friend, and I got too ahead of myself when I saw your name pop up. When UNI2 releases I'll be on pc if you want a real set.
Watching the first 20 minutes of gameplay and seeing the opponent fall out of the wrong rekka at the end gives me so much pain I wish one of the current byak's was there to help out
Watching ppl who are good at anime fighters is always cool 😮💨🔥 I’d love to see a full video of Sajam explaining like the basics because I’ve honestly always wanted to get good but skill issue 😅
I really enjoyed the Vatista set. I've been wanting to learn a charge character and all the other games have lame styled charge characters (IMHO). Not to say that Vat can't be lame but I did enjoy the different charge directions you have access to and can play a more aggressive styled charge character with her. Looking forward to the new UNI mostly because of the rollback!
This is the game that got me into fighting games back when it was brought back to EVO but never got to play it due to the fact that it lacked Rollback. So happy it is happening.
Man, everytime i see UNI, i think: "Vatista looks SICK" Then i go in training mode and realize why i dont play her (charge inputs hurt my head and hands...)
I do hope they can fix the issues with online play by the time the full game comes out, they feel very much like the same issues melty blood had with its online play
I remember Melty Blood Type Lumina having very rough rollback netcode. I wonder if this game is using that same netcode, and that's why it's being so rough.
French Bread is not very experienced with rollback net code, and they aren't a very big company, nor do they have much capital. Ironing out the issues is probably pretty difficult for them.
@@demiurge2501Well, they fixed the PS version's netcode, but the PC version still have a lot of problems. Tho, that one isnt their fault since the game was ported to PC by another dev
I didn't get to play fighting games much at all last year but UNI has always been one of my favourites. Hopefully the Return of the King can drag me back out to events
man idk, like, I like UNI a lot and I hope sys:celes is the kicker that makes it at least inch out of discord game territory for a year but french bread's bum rollback plus the fact that you can tell how little time they have for polish in how lumina-esque the menus are leaves me with little hope for the franchise. you can feel how held back they are from the size of the studio.
Think he uses a Razer Panthera. The older model he uses isn't made anymore but Razer does still make the Panthers Evo, though there are actually a lot of differences between the two
I still dk who the fuck to play in this game. I have about 2 weeks of experience playing with my friends in various versions of the game. I play KY in +R and Xrd but don't mind simple character like puff in melee. I like big buttons and like oppressing people in corner and being able to auto pilot oki so I can concentrate on the actual RPS interactions. I'm between Hyde, Byakuya, Nanase, Orie but I also haven't ruled out phonon but her Tsuni personality puts me off. Any advice?
the connection issues could be a wifi thing, alot of people are playing wifi on console so the ping wouldnt look bad but there would be alot of packet loss that translates to frame drops and constant change in rollback frames
Maybe I got lucky during the beta but the rollback felt pretty good to me. I only had a couple matches where it felt sluggish and those were high ping matches.
Man, if wanting modern games with modern netcode to come out in the best state possible is brainwashed, I don't wanna have another independent thought in life... I wasn't able to play online during the beta weekend and, if not for this and a little bit of majin obama's stream archive on yt, I would not even know there are some hiccups in the netcode. I can only hope the other uni lovers that got time with it actually fill out the surveys honestly, so Kamone and the team can squash the bugs causing the jitter. The folks at fpan are diligent about improving that stuff, even post launch, but I don't want the game to suffer the same reputation ding mbtl did at launch. I love this game more than any other fighting game and just want it to succeed and be as popular as possible.
It sucks that it seems to still have that French Bread "Rollback" but I'm praying they fix it by the PC release because being able to play more UNI is always fun.
410 matches logged. Safe to say I missed this game. Clear not being fun to play online plus my locals stopped play clear made me just not play until 2 was announced. This game is so back. Also hot take not the biggest fan of gbvs rising anymore. Uni just makes matches always look so wild and its what I look for in a fighting game.
Love to see Uni back. Small criticism I find when you describe characters with strong flow chart (Seth,Merkava) using the term “doesn’t have to think” instead of just they stick to their game plan until I force him to stop. Love the content as always
That's what "doesn't have to think" means, they "don't have to think" because they just rotate the strong options in their flowchart because the opponent needs to have specific knowledge of those interactions
