My takeaway from the whole story. Greed. Doesn’t matter how much 1 person has, they just want more & then more again. If the Gucci family were just happy with what they had (which was enough for anyone to live comfortably) then the Gucci company would still be with the Gucci family to this day.
What part of Tom-Dom did you not understand? It was not single handed. He couldn’t have done it without Domenico DiSole. Or maybe you don’t know the actual definition: Single handed means “by himself and without the help of anyone else”. 🙄
TOM FORD IS CLEARLY NARCISSISTIC . HE WAS ROMANTICALLY WITH A MUCH OLDR MAN FOR MANY YEARS, THAT NIGHT BE WHERE HE LEARNED MUCH F THE FASHION INDUSTRY, TOM FORD IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MALE DESIGNER EVER.
Years ago I watched a documentary about Maurizio’s death, it was fascinating to learn about the family mess involved, but I appreciate how this highlights the business aspect of Gucci’s story as well - not just the family drama. While many don’t appreciate how far Gucci has stepped away from its traditional (sexy) roots, the new direction has appealed to millennials world wide, propelling Kering’s earnings to $20.1 billion in 2021, up 35.2% from 2020.
@@hannaolssen668Yes during the pandemic many brands suffered, but based on the latest stats, Gucci had a strong finish in 2021, with earnings of $20.1 billion. So the young generation really seem to like the direction of Alessandro Michele.
No wonder Tom Ford’s line today is so hipped. His suits are so cool. You can tell the guy can design and got taste and style. Fashion come and go but style…they last

Yes, their quality handbags alone, could have kept them very comfy for many generations. Some of their things are really nice. I'm glad they're still going strong.

Tom Ford, Galiano and Gianni Versace … the three most talented designers in my eyes. They created their own world their shows were crazy good. It was art back then mixed with mafia and business. Today is very boring and no real designers as they were in the 90’s.
Crazy how the movie ignored all of this in favor of a soap opera plot line about Patrizia lol This is why you should never take Hollywood biopics seriously
Following the 2021 studio film House of Gucci, this special extended episode of Storylines uncovers the reporting behind one of fashion's most dramatic family business sagas. What did you think of Ridley Scott's adaptation? Let us know in the comments!
The movie was ok but a flop in regards to what amazing subject matter it had and what and how it presented it. It could have been something special, it wasn't.
Enjoying this ‘Quicktake’ for the background, but I also really enjoyed the movie. Thought each character was well-drawn, but laughed out loud on .the.sofa at whatever Paulo (Jared Leto) said.
Absolutely correct! Happiness could not be bought! She didn't understand the real quote: "Better cry in Rolls-Royce then in the bus". There was nothing about happiness.
I was working in Gucci sloane street at the when we were given Gucci shares,27:11; it was so surreal, and of course they bought it all back after (PPR) Pinault Bought into the company! 28:58;Tom was very good for Gucci and he dared to push the boat right out! 30:53; That was a real shock to everyone when the Tom-Dom team resigned; Tom, and De Sole were very hands on!! Right now under Michele, he constantly goes back to the "Gucci by Tom Ford" era archives and picks out a thing or two that made Gucci popular; If it sells why ever not?!
Interesting film. Yes, premium design brands are no doubt becoming more financially accessible and target focused towards a younger market group. But 'style' needs years to attain and mature, irrelevant of its affordability....and who wears it.
Gucci has exceptional attitude towards clients and or fans, in their stores in Italy. Very friendly and polite. They know what counts in sales business. I love their bags.
Something so cringe about "bag." Idk why. Lol. Gucci has no ties left to the Gucci family now, if I'm not mistaken. The staff is friendly at my local CVS. Gucci better be "friendly and polite." 🙄
the Ridley Scott film was fantastic. It also explained the financial aspect clearly. Bringing in the Bahrain investment group made my stomach churn. A very sad cautionary tale.
Great documentary and I still haven’t seen the movie. I guess designers like Versace, Armani and Prada followed in the Gucci success in the 80s. They were no longer the dominant force coming out of Italy.
I actually loved this but almost every think piece of Gucci forgets about Dapper Dan and the impact Hip Hop had on the brand’s sales. Are we going to completely diminish what Black people have done for them and their relevancy
@@rufina2543 No one is bringing in the race card, and it's obvious you don't know who/what Dapper did that helped Gucci. You may want to rethink your immediate go-to "it must be about race" issues
@@battlescorn It was not the Company...The Court (in Milan) Ruled that despite her Conviction she was still entitled to the money agreed in their 1994 Divorce Settlement...as well as back payments for her time in Prison.
I just found you, and I'm so happy that I did. I love your videos I love what you have to say I love how you report them I look forward to any and all news coming from across the pond I love the royal family so yes I'll be tuning in to you regularly I'm glad I found you thank you. 😊❤️
I've seen some negative comments about the movie. I think the objective was to highlight the fact that it was a FAMILY business and how greed and success complicates these relationship. I was quite impressed by Jared Leto's performance. Everyone did a fantastic job, he was the standout for me.
melhor documentário sobre essa marca que já vir, foi bom RU-vid ter implementado essa a dublagem automática ... Só que ficou dando retorno a voz ficou na minha língua e a do original espero que no futuro consertem...
This whole cult of high fashion is sickening. The only special thing about the people involved from the Gucci family to the aspiring models is how deranged they and their cult are. Where does the real world come in? What a disgrace to humanity.
Art. The same could be said of any high volume, high revenue industry. Music, art, sports all of it is steeped in sexism, chauvinism, exploitation and narcissistic behaviour. This is life.
@@sidstovell2177 GUCCI is NOT the only Brand in the Fashion Industry with Imitation Products, Knockoffs, Fake Merchandise, ect. I personally would never buy a knockoff... But obviously many, many, many people do. The Counterfeit Fashion Industry Market is valued at 500+ Billion a Year!
It’s better to cry in a rolls royce then to be happy on a bike. She rather be rich and unhappy then poor and happy. i guess she didn’t understand what life is really about.
Excellent Commentary and Production : The machinations of running a global 90's business is fascinating- it's really the Insect Kngdom come ALIVE in the HUMAN realm. Especially Tom & Dom- what war room chatter and machavellian chess playing they devised and encountered. 🦖☄️🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣
Like Bernard Arnault said, "The best quality and the most _'elitist'_ product in the world." The luxury market is all about elitism. And is one of the most important driving forces pushing society toward high-tech feudalism. You can't have fabulously rich Lords and Ladies without a lot of poor slaves to do all the work and make them shine by comparison. After all it's all comparative. The poorer the poor the richer the rich.
Customers buy bags more than designer s clothes because they can wear the same handbags over and over, or daily, so it's worth the price. They can't wear the same outfits over and over, except Burberry trench coat! At least they are smart to invest. The streets selling all kinds of leather bags is near Florence. I bought a few leather non name brand bags, but the craftsmanship are still great!
