i’m in 10th grade and going into a cosmetology class really soon! i can’t wait, i’ve wanted to be a hairdresser for almost 2 years now and i’ve watched like every brad mondo video at least 3 times. i’ve dyed and cut my own hair as well as others and obviously i’m 15 and not a professional so it’s never turned out perfect but i’m willing to learn and get better!!!

Thank you so much for this video!! All of this is so helpful! I’m planning on starting my hairstylist apprenticeship in the next year or so (cause you have to do an apprenticeship in Canada) and I’m trying to figure out how all this works. Great video!!

So in Louisiana you can go to cosmetology school for your 1500 hrs and the go straight into he education program (about 7 month program) and then get hired as an educator. I think the reason they do not require you to have salon experience is because they are simply teaching to the test....they aren't TRULY teaching you to be a professional they are teaching you to pass a very specific test. Which is why there is so much repetitiveness with the skill sheets..... x amount of roller sets, x amount of perms, x amount of up-do's over and over and over. Its frustrating that we pay 20k on average ta these private schools to come out and on average make $9-$10 an hr and still have trouble finding a chair because you have no experience but you can't get any without someone giving you a chair! lol. The most frustrating part is that they sell you a dream when you are enrolling - thankfully I am well aware of this prior to going into school so I have no unrealistic expectations but I have seen it time and again with younger girls who are bright eyed and bushy tailed and have this idea of what school will be like, what they will learn and what they will do when they graduate. I always wondered how people end up at supercuts.......but this is why.

Definitely agree about the board test! I just took mine a few weeks ago and tbh it was nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. If you go to the website where you schedule your test there should be a page with the %’s on how much of each subject is actually going to be in your test. It really helped me figure out which things to really focus my energy and time on.

I just graduated last month and I was already offered a job. I’m not gonna lie, I’m terrified! I really haven’t learned much besides the basics. She wants me to take clients right away but like? I’m not ready? Watching this video let’s me know that we’re all lost when we finish so I feel a lot better

@@aja5077 take my advice I graduated in 2015 and got cold feet and went to traditional college after instead of going to a salon and now for the past year I’ve been working at a salon and it made me realize I was right this is where I need to be and no one knows or feels ready. So I’m getting my license this summer!!!! You gotta push yourself into the unknown and uncomfortable it’ll be worth it 🖤

Thank you so much for your video!! I’m graduating in February from cosmetology school I already have 1,000 hours I had a work interview last week and the salon was super high end but people leave with their hair wet? Because to get a blow dry it’s an extra 50?!? Idk how I feel about that I don’t know if it’s normal or if it would affect me. I asked them why that was and they told me because we should get paid more for it and get more commission, what do you guys think?

I think all cats love lights. We put up some little cute painted town houses with lights on our living room counter for Christmas and my cat just watches them every time we put them up until he’s tired 🤣. I just got my license in September and I’m looking around my area for good salons to learn and get my continued education in as well. I’m just so scared to go in a salon to see if they’re hiring new stylists. I guess I get discouraged at myself. I love doing my own color and lightening sessions on my hair so I’m always colorful and bright. I’m just scared they won’t take their time with me and help me get as good as the other professionals are. I definitely have to just get up and dress like a bomb stylist and walk right in and just ask.

Yes she loves playing with those lights🤣 And yes girl!! Be confident and do your research for sure! If they don’t have some type of assisting program or training program then I would avoid them! Best of luck to you❤️

Same here. The owner of this well known private school actually reached out to mom and asked her if I would want to teach there after I finished school. I obviously said no because I haven’t even been out in a salon yet 🤦🏽‍♀️😂 I’m in Florida

@@hannahbosley6084 It can be named that, but that doesn't mean it's an actual college. In college, people earn 4 - 6 year degrees. Cosmetology is a learned trade, it is a licensure, not a degree.
@wilderhair1266
@wilderhair1266 3 года назад
Bella CCx actually most cosmetologists get associates degrees in cosmetology. College is any advanced school in which you can further your education through associates, bachelors, masters degrees & onwards.

I was really enjoying your video until you made the Karen comment. It’s so tiresome, I’m actually using my middle name at work because I’m so over it. 🙄
