So many tips that I can't wait to try out. Recently received a personal video review after Sylvain asked for people to upload their track footage. I gave him plenty of errors to work on :-) but couldn't believe it when he replied with a fully overlaid commentary the following day. In the first couple of minutes I demonstrate not shifting down quickly and running on when braking - some great tips in this - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FgrmWZhHajg.html

I was never commenting riding videos! But Sylvain, it's amazing! No fancy cuts or CGI, but pure information, confidence and humbleness!!! Thank you really much for what you're doing!! Please continue! What about the topic like: how to find a racing line in unknown circuit? OR Racing line/Fast line/Overtaking line differences. OR How to prepare overtakes? or actually compete. Thank you again from Serbia and Russia :)

Sylvain, this is a great series. I am an amateur racer in the US with some moderate success. I have never felt comfortable using the rear brake with the exception of running off track. I always thought it was a major shortcoming of my riding. I do click down a gear as soon as I release throttle and transition to brake, it settles/slows the bike for sure. From a psychological stance however, I really appreciate hearing one of the best riders in the world state that he doesn’t use the rear on a superbike. It actually takes a weight off my shoulders. It sounds silly but racing, as any endeavor you wish to be successful in, is 90% mental. I am really just trying to say thank you for sharing that!

@@technicalthug When you're braking hard enough to lift the rear up, the rear brake becomes useless. Even MotoGP riders only use the rear brake a little during the initial braking application before totally releasing it, and only start to use it again during the turn-in.

Thank you, Sylvain! At Laguna Seca I enjoy watching riders entering turn 5. From a vantage point under the pedestrian bridge you can see that nobody has the rear wheel in line, it's always sliding and often side to side. Absolutely spectacular! Doing this over race distance and not pitching it away, is beyond the incredible!

I think it was common for moto gp riders to use very little or no rear brake in the days before anti wheel spin and slipper clutches. Because they would break so hard, many times lifting the rear wheel, that it wasn't necessary. There's a reason behind rear brakes being so tiny. Moto gp bikes can have such a hard hit on acceleration that some riders used rear brake to control wheel spin. Excellent video. Especially after coming from a video by a moto vlogger/"influencer" who got in too fast to a corner on an unfamiliar road, slid into a drainage ditch and said "he had to lay it down" instead of learning how to use his brakes.
