Yeah, the toxicity present was enough to turn me off from considering to delve into the car community fully. While I don't own a platform that can be modded in a significant way (11' Elantra), I still appreciate cars for what they are, and I'll take care of mine. They're art forms meant to display the individuality of the owner, or to restore what most would believe is past its prime, each hunk of metal you see on this road, including mine, has its own story to tell. That's why I love cars so much. Keep it real, you help me learn more about the culture from the surface level.
You're wrong about the 11 elantra. It just takes a lot of research. Most of the aftermarket was kdm only. So digging up their surplus or the few that still make parts for those cars is a challenge in itself. But I'm learning how honda-like that gen (MD/UD) and newer are, relatively speaking in terms of potential. And yes. The 1.8L has potential. Only problem I'm encountering is I need a tune. You can still own cars you like, mod them how you like, and enjoy them for yourself. I was in the limelight once but I choose to step away from the attention. Now I buy and mod cars how I want, don’t post them much on social media and I don’t go to many car events. You don’t have to go to car events or seek gratification on social media to enjoy cars. People’s opinions on your car should never matter people will always have something to say.

Back in the mid 2000s me and my buddy had turbocharged grand prixs. People would talk so much shit about us and to us. My car ran a 12.1 @ 118 and my buddies ran a 11.7 @ 124, both respectable on the street back then. But it was ridiculous just the number of comments and opinions. I remember we went to the track back when the GTOs first came out and again, we got laughed at and ridiculed until we beat every single car out there. Another time we went when I first installed the turbo and was still on a supercharged cam and a rough tune. Mustang guys came up to me asking me why I waste my time and silly shit like that and wanted to line up. Gapped him hard, then I was accused of having nitrous in which I Iet him go over my car. I miss the time when people just appreciated originality and hard word on something thats an underdog. I know a guy who put cams and a head on a damn smart car. Ran low 13s. Yes that slow by todays standards but still damn cool because it would surprise you! This was the beauty of the modding scene but it doesnt seem to be the same anymore. I have a 2012 CTS V and a 2008 Saturn Sky Redline, people just expect them to be fast so its not fun anymore....sorry for the book.
Are you talking about the FWD W body Grand Prix with the 3800 series engine? If so those number are very good and those cars still get a lot of support from companies like ZZP. It reminds me of the grand Nationals when turbocharged

I had an 88 I-ROC Z as a 1st whip then a 2 Gen CRX si with a B18B swap and an 80 shot of Nos from a Zex Nos kit. When stationed in Okinawa I had a 95 R33 Skyline Gts-T that had a RB25 with bolt-ons Then a Mk3 Jetta VR6 with bolt-ons when I came back stateside,"which was my dream car since it came out in 95" If you're into cars screw what anybody has to say unless they're putting gas in that b*tch or paying the car note on it.
