The Queen's Palace in Persepolis was partially reconstructed back in the 70s to be used as a museum and artefact storage. I got goosebumps every time I went there. Try Persepolis3D.com for detailed reconstruction.
I would guess the Palace would have had a lot of natural air conditioning towers and Yakhchaals too like the ones you see in Yazd (Persian wind tower cooling system)
It has its own water system called Qanat. Also an ancient Persian invention. I don't think there was a yakhchal in the palace complex but there are some nearby. Persians would move to cooler areas during summer. Iran has more than 10 different kinds of climates.
Something calming about big desert architecture. Here in soithern california i like to visit middle eastern neighborhoods and mosques to pretend im in the middle east
This is an artificial plateau made of cut rocks so trees don't grow there. The surroundings are green. Iran has all kinds of climate but most of the cities are actually near the mountains. We have two large deserts too, of course.
What a great video. I've seen videos of ancient places that show today and then. But I'd have to stop the video and replay em. Showing the original then the ruins of today then "build" the ruins up into the original again. Fantastic.
