OMG, it's after midnight here in Oz and I was just heading off to bed. Nope!!! Kettles on, cup of tea and settling down to watch this, yay so excited. Thanks guys for such an interesting and creative competition show. 💜
I continue see this excellent presentation all artists are good and great artists . thanks to giving me better understand to art and artists , paint and painting 🙏 thank you very much everybody for this everything, every movement 😊🎉🙏👍
Michael just seems so underrated and not appreciated because his style is less like Dimitra's. He seems like one of the few who have more individual style, more distinguishable from the Milans' style, and penalized for it. If you look at social media, manga style probably sells better than a lot of other styles. It seems strange to me that they don't realize how the biggest IG artists tend to lean toward animation and manga influence.
@azmgbbb yeah he gets credit for staying positive in the interviews even though they seemed to just keep on trying to beat his individuality out of him!
Their goal is to find a poster child to sell their academy and style of painting. Michael just doesn't fit. He's got huge potential as an artist. Hope he keeps going.
I disagree with a lot of the comments about Michael. I don’t think he cares about the competition at all and don’t understand why he’s in it. I do not find him creative. However I do believe outside judges are needed because Ellie and Dmitria ate overly focused on their own style. They are much like school art teachers.
They hate on the males way too much. They’ve cut Micheal down from the beginning. They complained about copying yet everyone has been copying. I hope the guys continue to make great paintings. The judges only like the style they teach.
It is awesome hearing their stories, and seeing how spiritual and filled with faith they all are! As an artist, I am very spiritual, but the artists I have met near me have not seem too spiritual or to have faith.
Michael's is just different. The seraphim is placed as a third eye would be. I think it was creative and probably my favorite piece of his from this series. It showed a variation in styles and I'm sure there are things that would make it more sellable. Not all art has to be though. I understand this program has some focus on that. Idk I think his concept went over their heads and that's a shame.
I am a little disappointed by some of the elle's critiques throughout the season, and especially here with Michael. The topic here was to paint something that shows who they are. The dark religious symbolism and manga/anime style is clearly something that Michael believes reveals himself to the viewer. Whether the viewer wants to purchase this particular piece should be irrelevant here, especially since the instructions do not specifically state to make sure they paint something showing who they are that would also be sellable/relatable to a broad audience. We are all different and individual in our own way and our interests and who we are will not connect with everyone-or even a large, broad group of people.
First of all, I’m absolutely loving season 2, and how we get to see more of the finished art, get to know the artists better, and have longer episodes. Barb’s story about being healed was truly amazing, and I’m so glad she won the redemption, though I think Andrea is definitely a very close second. Elli’s critique of Michael’s piece was way off the mark in my opinion. Manga isn’t just one style of art, it’s as diverse as any other style. Secondly there are plenty of fine artists who sell big eye art/manga inspired art, mostly in the lowbrow convention scene, and they do EXTREMELY well. They also show in many contemporary galleries. My own work has a hint of manga stylization to it, and I’ve shown in galleries as well. I think it’s just a culture that Elli isn’t aware of or how popular it is. I hope their critique didn’t bring Michael’s art journey of exploration down. In the end we all need to follow our hearts.
Lovely to see the artists reach into themselves to see who they are. I really enjoyed watching their expression of this in their paintings. Andrea's I found really moving personally. Brie really captured herself in an amazing way - it was SO her. Despite Elli and Dimitra's thoughts, I felt that Roxani's was really perfect with the child and the adult juxtaposed. Perhaps they could have been rendered differently, but I thought the idea and execution worked well. Christina's was a pretty amazing concept! I would have loved to see Isaac refine his more - the idea in the source looked pretty amazing. I, too, wish Michael had gone for doing something that really captured HIM - I think he could have done something really cool, but his style seems to be experiment and be the rebel, and to not be pinned down by rules, but I would have loved to see him play the game their way to see what the outcome would have been. Barb and Sawyer also did great paintings - they all did so well with so little time. They were clearly moved by this process. But Andrea's for me was the clear winner of this challenge. I would love to see them all continue in this process. They have grown and expanded and if this process went on I think their work would be even more amazing!
The dude at 36:42 is totally right in his artistry and had some good ideas for himself. If he were to explore his ideas further I think he would come out with some FINE paintings. Fine Art is definitely not limited to whatever the cringee critic thinks its limited to...that lady has no idea what she is talking about LOL. Ive seen some really good fine art with Manga characters in it... or inspired by a bit of manga. I suppose Yoshitomo Nara or Ai Wei Wei. Also Id like to add that its crits like this woman who absolutely obliterate the arts with their rules and boring thinking :D
I love this series! 😊 What product do they use to seal their pencil drawings on paper/ canvas before painting? Thanks! Watching now.. excited to see outcome!! 🎨💚💙
You can use spray fixative. I thought I heard Isaac said he used gel medium (he said it caused the paint over top of it to sort of drip off) but in my experience that can cause graphite or charcoal to smudge.
You can use a spray fixative. I have one by Krylon, but before that, I was just using hair spray. But, if you just draw the charcoal onto wet paper (or activate it with some water on a brush), it doesn't move all over the place once you paint over top. (Same with chalk pastels). I just use the water technique and don't even use a fixative anymore. Hope this helps!
Esther, Alannah and Asia are the top 3 finalists. This redemption challenge was among the artists who had already been eliminated, to give one of them a chance to join the top 3 finalists in the chance to win the title of The Outstanding Artist - and the cash.

Ok I love art and I love reality challenge shows but for the love of GOD show the art and the artist when critiquing and or telling the points. Not everyone can remember who painted what just by their name, especially when going through 10 people. This isn't the only reality show that has done that but if you watch the most successful ones, you'll see that they do what I'm talking about.
This episode just got super religious. One of the most off-putting elements (for me) of this whole channel. I wish they would stick to painting without the Christian propaganda messaging
@@angelatol5665 While this may seem like Christian propaganda messaging to you, it is very real for Christians & part of who they are & is not intentional to upset you. We all need to be more tolerant & accept that others in this world do not all feel the same about everything. We can’t control what others say, so we need to back off the whining at everything we “don’t like”.😂
@@cathleenconnellperkins804 you are replying to the wrong person Cathleen...so I will also xD to you. It's interesting that you are "whining " about people whining. The comment section is here for comments, therefore I posted mine, so you may need to get used to that. Anyone that doesn't live in America would find that type of theme very odd as I said but you do you. Seeing your comment again is funny "we need to be more tolerant" but also we need to 'back off" xD
