Those are definitly beautiful and I would've bought one if the store I went to on Monday had them in stock! I ended up with an Iridis after that on Wednesday :)

For a wrasse it depends if you want more at the top like the cleaner or on the bottom. I think at the top a flasher or a fairy wrasse and I think you should get 2 (of either) because they will flash at each other. Pintail Fairy wrasse is stunning, small and peaceful but expensive. I'd get that and a cheap flasher wrasse like a McCoskers or Carpenters. If you just want one then Naoke Fairy is also good and there is Parchellinus Cyanus (blue flasher) and filamented flasher (don't get a filamented fairy wrasse). If you really want a stunning fish that's a real show stopper then Cirrhilabrus lineatus - the line fairy wrasse. All of these are fairly hardy and females (if you can find them) are plain and better and will turn to males). For a more "in the rocks" fish then I think a peacock wrasse or bluestar leopard wrasse is the hardiest of the leopards and will keep pests at bay. The canary / yellow wrasse is a great, cheap, bright yellow fish that is hardy and will eat pests. I think it's the best fish in the hobby. You already had leopard wrasse (I think a pair of the false leopard wrasse - I have one in QT).

Sunny you seem to know an awful lot about Wrasse, I can see how they are your favorite fish! Thanks for all the suggestions :) as you know I went with an Iridis!

The mushrooms at @4:40 are not Ricordea but are actually Yuma Mushrooms. Yuma have tentacles/bumps up to and on the cone of the mouth. Ricordea mushrooms the tentacles/bumps come up to the cone of the mouth but not on it. Some beautiful specimens of both Ricordea and Yuma down on the right. How long have you been growing/keeping those?
@DutchReefer
@DutchReefer Год назад
Hmm I've always understood that Yumas were also part of the Ricordea family, no? The other ones are Floridas. Regardless of that, agreed that they're beautiful! Had most of them for 3+ years :)

Mooie video weer! Je hebt een Reefer G2 zie ik. Mijn 350 G2 komt volgende week met nagenoeg dezelfde gear als jij gebruikt. Hoop ooit net zo’n prachtige reef tank als jij te hebben
@DutchReefer

Thanks! Klopt idd, de G2 is echt een grote verbetering tov de G1! Goede keuze dus, alvast veel plezier met opbouwen!!

How long have you had the copperband now for? I want to try my hand at one but would appreciate your feedback on what you think works for them to be successful? I can tell you that I've had two. Both ate at first and one day stopped and perished. I would add different types of pods on a weekly basis. I had aiptasia. Still no luck. Your tank looks great! I've had great success with my radiant wrasse and a mystery wrasse. Also a melanarus wrasse.
@DutchReefer
@DutchReefer Год назад
I have had my previous Copperband for 8 years, and this one has been in the tank for about 5 months now. Feeding them plenty works best, preferably frozen food of good quality. Best bet would be to let the LFS feed it first before buying it!

I would go with the Yellow Coris or one of the Leopard wrasses. I think the Coris are slightly easier to keep and slightly better with pests than many of the Leopard Wrasses.
@DutchReefer
@DutchReefer Год назад
Thanks for the suggestion! Coris are definitely nice :) and I've had leopards before, but they also get quite large

Hi, any suggestions how and what to feed Chelmon? Mine is not interested in any food. I tried almost everything...frozen mysis, artemia, fresh hatched artemia, mussel. Nothing works.
@DutchReefer
@DutchReefer Год назад
Hmm well mine have always loved frozen food, especially freshly frozen Mysis and Krill (for Krill go with the smallest size). I always feed using a small net. The CB will need to get used to the net, but when it knows there's food inside it will come to the net and eat from it. I have had 3 CB's so far and they always got used to this way of feeding. Alternatively you can make/find a cylindrical tube and make beak-sized holes in it, and fill it with mysis/krill. It should get attracted to that as well (but I never tried this method)

@@DutchReefer I really like pink streaked wrasse but I read they are not great for pests. Listening again you want flatworms so I would go with a friendly member of the Halichoeres family like the yellow coris - Halichoeres chrysus - or iridis or timorensis (which I think is stunning and totally underrated). Most of the other Halichoeres I think risk being aggressive. Leopards and Tamarins are more focused on crustaceans / small snails and pencil wrasse I have heard are the best but are hard to find and are the biggest jumpers. You are in Holand and DeJongs do have female Pseudojuloides splendens and Pseudojuloides severnsi in stock - I like special fish so I would go one of those (if the price is ok) as you can always add a yellow coris too
@DutchReefer
@DutchReefer Год назад
@@sunnygoold9449 Thank so much for the advice Sunny! Today I went to the LFS and went for a beautiful Halichoeres Iridis based on your comment! Cheers!!
