Hey guys! I'm excited to sit down with Dr. Peg DiTulio.
Dr. Peg DiTulio has had extensive experience treating various environmental illnesses such as Tick Borne Diseases (Lyme, Bartonella & Babesiosis), Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (mold toxicity), Methylation Cycle issues, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, Leaky Gut, SIBO and Bioidentical Hormone Replacement. She uses an Integrative Medical Model using pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, lifestyle changes and exercise programs to facilitate wellness.
Dr. Peg is a certified clinician in the Shoemaker Protocol for Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS). Having worked with over a thousand CIRS patients over the past 8 years she understands the nuances of the symptoms that each patient presents with. CIRS is triggered by many different biotoxins, water damaged buildings being the most common, but also tick borne diseases, metals accumulations and even viruses. In turn, CIRS can trigger downstream illnesses such as Leaky Gut Syndrome, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, SIBO and Dementia just to name a few.

I have CIRS, LYME, severe electro hypersensitivity (microwave sickness)....one of the biggest challenges, has been, finding a mold free, low emf home. Currently in a moldy house, but its 1.75 miles away from cell tower, and i cover the smartmeter. Wish i could find an affordable mold free low emf home and job.

I love that your spreading the word so well with CIRIS. I have that and it’s so hard to manage. I’m in a good home now and don’t have to go into a work building so If I did I can’t imagine what I’d be like. Your putting yourself out there with a bunch of really sick people and that will come with a lot of emotion. I can get pretty sick easily just by walking in a building and walking out. I have to Avoid a lot to stay norma. Fragrances, cleaning chemicals, body & hair products, laundry detergents oh man it’s in every building you enter. I am very sensitive to those things and can’t last long. A lot of people don’t know how sensitive they are to them.

I have CIRS. Have had it since 1990. Back in 1992, I found a homeopathic clinic and got desensitization therapy. However, it's all caught up with my brain, living in an old house. Had to leave home for a while, to be able to come back with a better perspective. Been carnivore for about a year.❤

I am a dental hygienist and CIRS pt, keeping a healthy oral cavity is very important with inflammation as dr ditulio mentioned. Feel free to ask your hygienist for 3 month cleaning instead of 6 which they often recommend. May be out of pocket cost for just a cleaning but will be well worth it for the price of health :)

Dear Judy, Thanks so much for your diving into all of this environmental illness pieces. You've opened a new door for me to explore and I feel very grateful for you! I failed the contrast sensitivity test. And I just had my blood work drawn two days ago. And then this afternoon I was on the phone for 30 minutes with Dr. Peg's husband Glenn who is a really great guy! Anyway I mostly just wanted to say thank you because like one of your clients you interviewed I've been Carnivore for 3 1/2 years and I've had some cool changes but I'm still deep in the forest. Unfortunately she is booking in July now here it is at the end of March. Looking forward to hearing back from you after my blood work results gets to your office!

Another great interview! One thing that didn't come out clearly was the response to the binders according to toxin load. Was she saying that people with the greater load have less tolerance of the binders (colesevalem or cholestyramine)? Just wondering since I've been carnivore over a year, just started colesevalem 2.5 weeks ago and really not tolerating it well. Backed my dosage way down, and I've had CIRS for at least 40 years.

Can an issue like this also occur after sepsis? I've also been bitten by a tick. But I've heard that something like a TBI or spider bite can trigger an inflammatory response and then have issues with mold exposure and CIRS.

@ Judy... You asked the Dr @ 59:23 about what does a person need to do post-CIRS as far as protecting themself for going into mold environments. She did not answer your question. As a possible upcoming CIRS patient, Her answer about going on vacation or to a hotel for a time makes sense... we all get that as far as taking binders before and after for anywhere from 1-3 days. Your question was about short temporary environments like church and grocery stores. I do those things 2-4 times per week! Does that mean I need to take the binder nonstop daily forever??
@NutritionwithJudy
@NutritionwithJudy Год назад
From what I understand, it takes about 10-15 mins for the body to really react, but it'll depend on the person. Yes, unfortunately, if you are going to places that you know are really bad with mold, you should find better locations, unfortunately. Some providers recommend stores that are more standalone, and brick facades that are newer, such as Targets over Walmarts. Churches, schools, and hospitals are tough. I don't have the right answer for you, but I also know that my faith is most important and I'll do what it takes to be part of a church. If I had to go to a moldy church, I'd try to see if the binders would be sufficient but if every week, I feel worse, I'd find a different option. Listening to your body would be best.

I have a question. What happens to a person who has Cholestasis in which some their bile backups into their stomach and circulatory system? Since they are unable to move their full bile thoroughly into their Intestines? Even if they have been on higher-fat muscle meat carnivore diet. They seem to be enigmas

Hi Judy, Love listening to your podcasts, BUT, either Dr. DiTulios's microphone or her room makes it just about impossible to follow what she is saying. Will check later to see whether somebody else has experienced a similar issue. Thanks.

The biggest limitation of any discussion of a carnivorous diet is the lack of research. All of the studies on an animal-based diet were either very short (a few days), case studies of Antarctic explorers or victims of scurvy, or reviews of cultural practices which always involve at least some plants. Studies that last a few days can only tell about short-term effects. In the longer term, poor nutrition may cause thyroid and hormonal problems, nutrient deficiencies, and other health issues. Proponents of the carnivore diet claim that the human body’s nutritional requirements are different after several months of eating only meat, but there is no research to back them up.
@Structuredrelaxation
@Structuredrelaxation Год назад
You are absolutely right! But studies are expensive and the funding is the main problem. Shawn baker is trying to get one started and has been asking for money for a long time now. Obviously you need a shitton of $$$ to get any meaningful research done....and that's not even considering the problem of getting your findings published if it does fit with the current narrative.

There are people that have done Carnivore for several years that have perfect labs. Also, we ate almost exclusively meat for 2M years. Lastly, you can start with Carnivore and add back other foods. It doesn't have to be permanent. There is a known reason why people on Carnivore don't get scurvy... The transport molecule for vitamin C is the same one that transports glucose, so if you aren't consuming a bunch of sugar, your body gets much more of the Vitamin C you consume. You will notice Carnivores reversing a multitude of conditions and having the best healthy of their lives, yet everyone is worried about nutrient deficiencies. There are the same people that feel terrible all the time and think they are getting tons of vitamins from their veggies, when really they barely absorb any of it.
@KT-dq5cp
@KT-dq5cp Год назад
@@Structuredrelaxation there are showing the detrimental impact on health of a carnivore diet so no wonder he can’t get funding to try and prove the opposite!

@LeviPage
@LeviPage Год назад
@@KT-dq5cp 2M years of anthropological evidence has been researched. The Inuit have been researched. The high meat diet of Hong Kong has been researched. The animal based diet of the Masai has been researched. A one year meat only diet has been researched. The effects of red meat and a high saturated fat diet, has been researched. There is plenty of research and you are worried about vitamins despite health outcomes. Lab targets are based on rat studies and population samples. They aren't a perfect measure of anything.
