The 'Replicators' department could totally justify having their own RU-vid channel, the number of amazing projects they must do on a regular basis must be fascinating.
I love seeing what goes on behind the scenes at the museum, and in particular, I really love seeing how creativity is essential to scientific research as well as to the presentation of museum materials, whether it's creating a cool way to catch insects in a field, or building a 3D printer, or sculpting little sea turtles that are durable and can't be stuck in someone's pocket!
Visual and tactile experiences are so incredibly important in education. The folks up in exhibitions need to have a broad understanding of so many different topics to help us figure out the ways in which we can convey the research of our scientists so as to engage the public, and help inspire people to think critically and creatively about the world around them. I LOVE IT

Meaning it's not touchable in the exhibit because it wouldn't survive thousands of people touching it, not that a single person can't/shouldn't touch it.
Another light shone into the seemingly endlessly fascinating recesses and roles behind the scenes at a major museum. The eclectic diversity of these subjects is so interesting. You never know what's coming next, just that it's going to be well worth the patient wait.
I love how much scientific knowledge goes in the creative process of a Replicator. It's amazing how he uses art and science in his job, two things that you wouldn't usually put together. Seeing the models being made, the work environment, and who's behind the models is so cool. As a highschooler, this just widens up my view of what jobs can be like.

I don't know if it was just me but it was really cool watching Max's progression throughout the video. It seemed as if with each cut he was visibly more and more comfortable on camera.
I love that when Emily sees the giant termite mound, her first thought is "I wish I was an anteater" that is not the reaction you would expect. Also I so want this guys job!
A replicator was a persistent antagonist in the TV Series "Stargate SG-1". They were crab-like robots that were made of super hard magnetically structured identical fragments.
RC-1290 Other side is the same. Keys work by pushing up a set of pins of specific lengths. So for pins A B C D E F G, they may have a length of 1 4 2 3 5 1 7. This corresponds to how deep each jagged end is. If the jagged ends match up, the pins move out of the way and the key can turn. (Basically; I'm no expert) Theoretically, you can take a blank key of the same style and file down each location of the pins to match the correct key and it will work.

That looks like an awesome job! How big is the replicator team (now _that_ kinda sounds like something out of Transformers), and is there some kind of specialisation within the team, like this guy is really good at making fish so let's give him fish, or do you just get literally everything thrown at you?

Every time I watch a museum video I kick myself in the ass for not sticking with biology in college and doing something like this for a living. Graphic design is fun, but this is my true passion. Time to go back to school.

I'd love to do something like this if I ever get my museum studies degree. Right now I'm just carving foam for artifacts nesting with a dremel at my museum. Now nearly as exciting, haha.
I would love it if you could check back at this department every once in a while, like when there's a big new exhibit coming up or something? It's really interesting to see what they are making and maybe a great way to get people excited about new exhibits? I know I want to see the tiny turtles, but sadly there's an ocean in the way.
Max is really awesome, I always wondered how they made those exhibits and everything, and it's cool to see how they do it. And The Replicator is the best name for a job position ever.
I came to RU-vid for a documentary on the history of winemaking, ended up watching Edward Scissorhands, a few polymer clay sculpt tutorials, some stuff about insect pinning... and now I've been binging you guys for like 2 hours. What happened.
I would wager it is something a bit different, Vsause talks about this a bit, that when on camera you need to up the enthusiasm just a bit as our normal conversation voice come off a bit dull when filmed. Emm is just special in that she has a lot of personality and charm even from her very first appearances :D
At the National Aquarium in baltimore my mentor explained the puffin exhibit (if you ever go its on the 4th floor) and how the people who built it left skulls in the rock because the curators said werent allowed to sign it

This looks like a really fun job! this is the kind of thing I want to do. Artistic, but with a purpose beyond just being looked at. Like scene painting for theatre, or creating props for a museum display. I want it.
I'm obsessed with this...it's like fine arts and animals smushed together into one awesome job! If only I'd have known about this when I was little! :)
That guy has the coolest job. Imagine going to work every day if you have that kind of job. To get to create things and be creative every day, is the dream! :)
