You saw both original Residents then because Hardy Fox was alive and well and still touring with the band. But apart from him and Homer, I doubt that the rest were the original members of the Meet the Residents combo. Many come and go in the Residents and we cannot know who is behind a mask on stage, except for the guitarist since the late 90s who is the known Resident and whose guitar style is as unmistakable as Homer's voice and stage act.
I think the music is mostly programmed. The "singing Resident" voice must be real live though. If they had the guitarist playing in this, he 'd play live too. I think that they began doing these partly programmed, partly live performances in the early 90s.
Yes, Hardy Fox a founding member of the combo and who had composed a good half of their material, as he himself revealed upon his departure as a touring member due to health issues in 2016, died in 2018 but the "singing Resident" who there is no reasonable doubt that is their "spokesman" Homer Flynn, is here alive and kicking. All those years many members came and went, with only him and the sadly departed H. Fox being in the band from the begining. The Residents were and are destined to remain an at least half-hidden mystery, unless Homer who is now the sole leader and probably has all the rights and owns the name of the band, decides to call it the day and reveals everything about the past.
