Ehhhhhhhhhhh, I wouldn’t really consider Ryoji much of a “villain” At least, he doesn’t really *act* like one He’s really just the avatar for Nyx, who was the true “twist villain”

I'd probably think more Ikutsuki rather than Ryoji honestly, because Ryoji's was more unwillingly and unknowingly and he didn't even have a choice

Agreed. Akechi was sus from day one,especially if you played 4. Oh the friendly detective,always smiling and asking about the case, i wonder why .. Shido is "your basic anime megalomaniac " and is hilarious Joker doesn't recognize him sooner for who he really is. Also you have the power to change hearts and you don't immediately go for the guy who put you in trouble? He is a pretty well known politician, he is in tv often. You know for a fact he is a p.o.s., why are we changing the hearts of random strangers? Also his whole palace is frankly stupid, the way the gang tries to bribe the shadows inside his palace. Really guys? Just destroy them and take their key item. What are you even doing? Shido himself was a disappointment too, at that point in the game he lasted 2 minutes tops. The game is great most of the times but some parts are just silly. Adachi at least had a motive(not a good one mind you, but reasonable) and is a creepy manipulating freak. He didn't even (arguably) killed the people directly, he just pushed them in the TV. He knew after the first one they would probably die, but still. Akechi straight up murders people. Dozens, probably injuring hundreds. The motive being..daddy issues? (i know i'm simplifying it) Sorry for the rant, just watched a video about Akechi and still a bit salty about it XD

@@Eisenwulf666 1 they don't follow politicians 2 they would only know shido 3 they definitely wouldn't pull off a convincing calling card without futaba 4 akechi would of interrupted you

The cutscenes in this game looked so much better than the ones we had in the first arena game. The art direction at times even looked better than Golden's.

iirc the voice director wanted to have Adachi sound just a bit different since JYB also voices Yu Narukami. Since he doesnt talk in P4, there wasn’t really anything to worry about. But in P4A(U) they both talk

99% sure that that’s indeed the case. He said he loved voicing Kanji, so I assume it’s just scheduling issues

Oh thats good. I thought he got bored of it because he voices more in games now rather than animes anymore. Shame too,he would fit in so many of them like JoJo or Castlevania

I can agree with Maruki, and Joker Persona 2, but Akechi I'm base P5 was an awful mess of a character, P5R largely fixes him but still im my opinion leaves a mediocre character

@@mystrenula3911 While I can't speak on original since I played P5R since it's basically the definitive version of P5, I can say that while I can acknowledge they're meant to do two separate things, I think Akechi is better. While Adachi is relatable, the second he said he did what he did because he was bored, any and all sympathy went out the window. Like Yukiko said, he's just a kid throwing a trantrum. Akechi meanwhile is just as much a victim of corrupt adults as any other Phantom Thief. Being manipulated by his father to kill for two years, thinking he was in control the whole time hits harder than "I was bored and didn't get my way in life"

@@mystrenula3911 I recommend checking out LadyVirgilia’s analysis of his character since he’s actually very deep but a lot of it is lost on western players without the social context of Japan

@@connorharnage6697 vanilla didn’t have his SL or 3rd semester, so it did remove a lot of connection. Especially with western players, since the context of his social situation in Japan was enough to catapult him to top of the polls in Japan’s character popularity contest. Adachi is a typical killer tbh. A lot of these serial killers irl have no good reason for what they do. Which explains why they’re warped enough to take that many lives to begin with. Whereas Akechi was kind of pushed into it, he’s fully aware of what he’s doing as wrong but has already decided he’s a lost cause whose life is meaningless anyway

Because at some point, it was decided that the English VA for Adachi do a double role as Yu, the main character. Then Yu Narukami ended up having a lot more speaking roles. To avoid having two characters share the exact same voice, the English VA pitches his voice up for Adachi and pitches his voice down for Yu from then on. So the choice was make Yu sound annoying or Adachi sound annoying and they picked Adachi.
