If you burn this letter, you'll destroy everything you've done up until now, BUT, on the flip side, you MIGHT max out Adachi's weird Social Link... *INSTANT BETRAYAL*
I like how he's super confused that anyone would choose to be on his side. He's like: "??? The fuck bitch, you have the evidence, why aren't you bringing me to justice?" You can just tell even he knows only a total fool would do that.
@@unknownusername74 Senpai is now Adachi's partner since he destroyed the only piece of evidence pointing to Adachi. Everyone was trying to figure out the murderer for about a year, then Senpai ruined it.
@@plasthicc5407 wait what i just started a new game+ just so i can fuse him and you telling me i will have to max out the social link so i can fuse it in an another new game+ ? Oh god this is gonna take a long time
The way everyone looks at Yu with sad eyes as he departs, telling him how much they’ll miss him; meanwhile he just stares back, knowing FULL WELL that he betrayed their friendship and everything they stood for. It’s the morbid curiosity in me speaking, but I would really like to see all of their reactions to actually finding out about him and Adachi. That would just shatter my heart. Also, does anyone else find the social link music very off-putting in this ending? Gives me chills.
If they made a "what if" sequel where you pick up some time after this and the game takes place in wherever You is from with you pals visiting like to discuss that and trough the game you get phone calls from adachi
"You have betrayed everything you once stood for and burned the one piece of evidence linking Adachi to the crime. You and Adachi now have an indestructible bromance!"
I absolutely love this ending just because of how chilling it is. Think about it: you've spent so long with your friends and comrades to find the true killer, only to throw all that away to cover up the truth you've sought so hard to discover. Becoming Adachi's "puppet" for all his future plans feels like such a punch in the gut, especially since the friends you met in Iniba were all so genuine to you. In fact, the worst part it all for me was the fact that your friends watched you leave, completely oblivious to the fact that their leader had betrayed them. I swear, when you think about it, this ending really makes you feel. In fact, I still feel uneasy watching it now.
*Inaba, also, technically, you could pass on given requests. His Social Link is capped and can't be broken; though just to be on the safe side, fuse Magatsu-Izanagi as soon as you can.
This ending is really good, because Adachi has the same power as Yu, and vice versa. Adachi went down the path of lies and evil, whereas Yu went down the path of truth and bonds. Joining Adachi and covering up the evidence to let the culprit free, Yu throws away the truth AND his bonds, making him not much different than Adachi, letting him weild magatsu izanagi
I don't usually like English dub over Japanese games or TV shows, but damn... I have to give props to Adachi's voice actor in the English dub of P4G, he could be goofy at one moment, then send shivers down your spine the next moment, which is just what happened in this scene. And can we talk about that demented laugh? Whew...
Nick Fok I think he chose it just for fun and got it as expected. [From now on, a bitter truth exposes.] One bad thing is, the killer's laughter sounds more cruel and drool-inducing then the one in the original version. and Other is, It's translated comment on the 'Truth' is more sinister than the original lines, which says "While Truth must be the only one immovable, Many choose to live in their own many different truths. And this is the truth you chose haha." As I discovered the intended mistranslation of your English Version, I began to sympathize the poor lives of mainstream guys in your 'western' society... though I don't think that's all of you. - From a shitless slave region of humanism being suffered under hoon-tribe-originated-parasitism and kiki'she' collectivism which is known as the name 'Korea', whose dwellers always steals and begs from Japan's original history which clearly inherited sincere humanity in Ancient Kudara more than its 'original' dwellers in hometown.
Andrew Geubtner Are you gonna beg us you kiki'she' bug? If you want it just say it. Why do you write a comment pretending some normal feared person while no decent human get feared but give you a condescending look?

This is such a perversion of the regular maxing social links. An unbreakable bond, founded on blackmail. An item for maxing the social link. Sickening.
@Zero123 Alpha According to the fandom wiki, it says that if you get the True Ending, the social link will max out, but the Arcana will be Hunger instead of Jester.
The way Yu clutches his phone tightly as the train passes by Adachi is so heartwrenching. Yu, in regret, realised he messed up big time with no point of return, betrayed and left all his trusted friends in the dark. All the bad endings in P4 are really eerie but this one takes the cake, so atmospherically creepy
also that last scene where yu catches a glimpse of adachi & then grips his phone in regret just as he enters a tunnel.. truly unnerving, possibly one of the best bad endings in a game
@@hexgirlsgroupie Oh thank you for answering, I was looking at the wrong scene the whole time heh, I thought it can't be hidden it the default ending scene lol
This idea is interesting. Yu killing Adachi like how Akechi killed the cop, taking his gun then shooting him with it. The investigation team could have been pissed about how he handled the situation but hey, payback's payback. On the other hand... The disappearence of a police officer that was last seen with a teenager that was previously found with swords at Junes of all places would raise suspicions. Good thing Yu can just hide the gun or hell even adachi's body thanks to the TV adachi has in the interogation room that was shown to lead to the midnight channel in a flashback. In short, good idea. Would be good to see it developping if it was actually possible to do that.
This is one of the less satisfying ending if you think about it. I personally loved it because it's dark, but Adachi doesn't even acknowledge or thank you for what you did. He just low key threatens you and goes away. There's no bonding. No friendship. Nothing. He just laughs, makes you feel unsafe and tied for the rest of your life and then leaves. You're not even truly his accomplice. You're his puppet. This is what you get for making a deal with the devil thinking he would reward you and pay you back.
The thing that always gets me in the end is that you literally betrayed everything and everyone and most of all yourself, and you pay the price for that by becoming Adachi’s b!$;h until the world is gone.
Game: Ok so you’re willing to stick up for someone who has, put you through hell, murdered several people, nearly killed Nanako you and your friends, and then burn the evidence so he can get away with everything he’s done?! Yu: *yeah haha jester social link go brrr*
"You want to find the truth without being swayed by the voices of society... But the truth is a sinister thing. it seem like something absolute, yet it exist in everyone's heart". Damn Adachi with that philosophical shit.
This is probably just me projecting my own feelings onto the situation, but a part of me believes that the only reason Yu would side with someone who's hurt and indirectly affected the people he cares so much about is because the stress got to him and he started going crazy. That's not the best way to describe it, but the way the narration portrays him makes it impossible for me to believe that Yu was always "evil".
Adachi was a kid from the big city who came to a town in the sticks and chose isolation. Yu was a kid from the big city who came to a town in the sticks and chose the power of bonds. Both Yu and Adachi were naturally gifted and understood that they were different from their peers. If Yu chose Isolation in a shitty town in the middle of nowhere his feelings of lonlieness could have turned into that hatred for the world Adachi felt. This ending is showing that Yu could have easily went down the same path as Adachi. Adachi wasn't born evil and Yu wasn't born evil. Adachi became evil through his mistakes and our playable hero isn't so different.
Gods I love this ending. It just really is a terrible ending to the story. To say your actions are "monstrous" is no joke. And the ending credits music is just perfect for leaving the unsettling feeling of what you did sink in. The melody is almost like trying to convince yourself "its going to be okay" but you know its not. And then the final cut scene gah! So good! xD
Can we take a moment just to appreciate how GLORIOUS Johnny Yong Bosch voice is ? As a french player, i usually don't really like english voice acting for japanese games; but this time .... oh god, there's no comparison, J Y B really beat the original voice acting. This is so good. And that laugh man, amazing ! I think his voice is one of the part of why i'm so addicted to Adachi haha, sorry, i'm fangirling too much ~ And this ending is REALLY my favorite, i love how twisted it is, this is really interesting to be in the bad guy side !
Yeah, I did it. I got the Accomplice Ending. Because I wanted to see what happens. And, you know what? I feel horrible. Really, REALLY, horrible. It’s not just one choice-you have to choose to keep quiet to the group, then choose to confront Adachi, then choose to join him, and Adachi even gives you one last chance not to burn the last incriminating letter. And what happens if you do? He laughs at you. He _ridicules_ you. He’s not even thankful-he’s just impressed that you would betray everyone! Your friends, who you’ve been working with all year to prevent these horrors, Dojima, who gave you a place to stay-you threw all of that out the window, _you piece of human garbage!!!_ You wanna max out the Jester Arcana?! You wanna experience 100% of the game?! _Well, here ya go!!!_ INABA IS DOOMED TO PERILOUS FOG!!! _BUT YOU DON’T CARE, DO YOU?!_ *IT’S JUST A GAME!!!* A game’s ending has to be narratively satisfying. That doesn’t mean that something needs to end happily-a lot of video game endings don’t. It means it has to feel right, it needs to feel complete. But here, there is no satisfaction-there’s only emptiness. And that, in itself, is kind of satisfying. The party is disappointed, the bad guy is getting away. And he’s even threatening you by keeping tabs on you from now on, so you didn’t even benefit from it, either. Everything sucks. I didn’t just betray my friends, I didn’t just betray my family-I betrayed _myself._ *_What is wrong with me???_* *ADDENDUM:* Alright, a lot of you guys have been busting my balls about this, so lemme just say that I was just quoting a RU-vidr when he covered this ending. So, if you have an issue with this comment, take it up with him, not me.
I like the ending because I find it funny. It's just that Yuu can go "Hmmm, the culprit is Adachi...suddenly I don't like this case anymore" and just...throw it all away like "I can save either the world or my favourite piece of human garbage. Imma save the garbage." And even the garbage himself looks at you like you've gone mad. Even the garbage you're siding with cannot believe this shit is happening. And you just...go and tell him "Hey man, I know you're the killer and I came to tell you that I don't care." And he's just: "??? You want to blackmail me, right?" and Yuu is like "Nah man, I really just came to tell you that I give zero fucks, fuck my friends and everything I stand for, this case is shit smh" And it's incredibly funny. It's all simply so fucking funny I can never stop laughing when watching this end because nobody can believe that you're really doing such a jerk move
Jesus, this comment taunts me so bad even for just watching someone else’s gameplay of the ending. So much so that even this makes me feel worse than Undertale scolds me for doing genocide.
The P4GA version of this ending is even darker. You see Yu's regret to have taken that decission and even Margaret and Marie reactions to that. They didn't believe what Yu has done. Marie's Face was like she was shooked. This is a very good example of a bad ending.
The person who genuinely saw you as a partner, the people you saved, the people you maxed the social link of... all of them are doomed to die in this ending. All of them. The town will just be a ruin, full of shadows who are incapable of thought, people will have to avoid it on the road to not become shadows themselves, and it will be the stuff of rumors, the foggy town full of monsters. This ending is fucking chilling.
My long-story-short interpretation of this scene is that this was Yu’s last-ditch attempt at forming a genuine bond with Adachi which he does, but in the process, forsakes and betrays the past year and everyone else in order to achieve it. All of Yu’s social links end with him changing their life and him making them realise something, for them to then profess that they have his back. Yu’s a bit of an authority figure here, but in Adachi’s case, he changes Yu by making him give up on his ideals and bonds to adhere to his way, and to control him. There’s a bigger picture too as Izanami’s puppets representing emptiness and hope.
in this ending id like to think he didn't max out anyones social link. i wish that there was a way to shape your evil ending in these games cause for a game series with evil endings you dont feel evil the entire time you're playing.
Not only the IT, Inaba itself is doomed. Adachi will slowly kill everyone in it. It doesn't even matter that Nanako is alive, she will end up getting killed...
yeah. He destroyed the only piece of evidence that could incriminate adachi, so all of you and your friends' work is for nothing. Also, Inaba will forever be stuck in fog and the people will never see the truth, only what they want to see.
A very disturbing ending... One of the reasons Tohru Adachi is one of the most interesting characters in all of video games. EDIT: Y'all I posted this 4 years ago 😂 My opinion has changed. I still ADORE Adachi with my whole heart, but I don't think I'd go so far as to call him "one of the most interesting characters in all of video games" anymore, LOL. I just think he's neat.

@@user-bo6dk9rx6z Oh my god. You're right, you're absolutely right. The truth can mean many things. So many things, it can hide the malign intentions behind it. As a I person belonging from a Southeast Asian country, with the country's past suffering approximately 4 centuries of Spanish Imperialism, I'm genuinely scared, angered, and/or disappointed of how the vast majority of the country's population and government aren't able to function properly as a...well...as a utopia. I guess this comment parallels our foolishness in believing 'goodness', and I use that term loosely.
I hate this ending so much, it just breaks my heart the type of betrayal that this scene means. It literary is a F you ending, everything that could go wrong went wrong and even then, even when you break every piece of bond you did to reach out the truth this ending gives you the one an only Adachi....
+Jorge Reyes no, but the things that you do to get it makes it so it doesn't quite turn our as a good ending either. It's just an ending... A messed up one in my opinion...
anime ova presented it a bit deeper. It presented how bad Yuu felt for Adachi and understood that if he was in his position his mind might have broken too.
This would be so much cooler of an ending if Yu had any reason at all to do this. Not you the player, but Narukami the character. What's the motive? He's clearly not "just evil," he's done a ton of stuff throughout the game without any player input that he wouldn't do if he was like Adachi. He has a whole group of friends that care about him, so it isn't Adachi's "I'm bored and lonely so I needed entertainment" excuse... it's just out of left field. Yu gets absolutely nothing out of this and has literally everything to lose from it. If they had set Adachi up to toy with Yu psychologically throughout the story and give him *some* reason to do it, I could see it, but the ending unfortunately just falls flat for me because of this. It just makes no sense, even applying Persona world logic.
Yep. The ending is interesting in theory but like you said, there's literally no narrative reason for the protagonist to drop everything and side with Adachi like that, so it ends up feeling strange and disconnected from the rest of the game as a result. Honestly a letdown even if there wasn't reason to expect really fleshed out writing from an alternate ending tacked on to an enhanced port.
What if you say no or/and blackmail him or/and refuse to burn the paper, will he push you in? I mean the TV is there, in the, _just_ big enough for the main character to barely fit in.
notice how in the other endings when the protagonist fails to deduce the culprit, he stares at the sky along with naoto and yosuke. after deciding to protect adachi, he stares at the ground as the other two face the sky.
This ending is disturbing and absolutely stunning with how tense it feels. The shot where you get Adachi's trust is very telling. Yu turns his back on us--the audience, his friends, the victims--in order to protect a sleazy, sadistic, misanthropic killer--who, in the same shot, is framed by the DOOR. The only exit. The only way out from EVERYTHING. I fucking love that shot (beginning at 2:23, just about). I also like how the importance of framing continues from there; Yu's head is framed BY THE TELEVISION at one point. "If you get calls from this number, you'd better pick up." CHILLS, MY GUY. Adachi and this ending are number one.

If adachi wanted to tie up loose ends he would have burned that letter himself, hes in it for the thrill, and having an accomplice now means the game is never truly "Over".

This ending fascinates me because in my opinion at least, you really can’t call it a “Bad ending” like with the ones on 12/03 involving Namatame. While yes technically, it is literally the worst possible thing that could happen with the true killer walking free and the one piece of incriminating evidence being destroyed, but at the same time, it still feels like a better outcome than the other bad endings. The other bad endings leave you with a feeling of emptiness, and a sense that you missed quite a bit, but this ending doesn’t make you feel empty, it makes you feel like you legitimately have done something awful. Not from a gameplay perspective, but from a narrative perspective, and that’s what makes it stand out to me. It’s that you get to the bottom of the case, what the player had set out to do from essentially the beginning of the game, and yet the ending still makes you feel bad. I think this ending is super cool, and really can’t think of any other games that have done something like this.
The happy music when completing the social link feels insincere, with "you have formed a bond that cannot be broken!" Feeling like you've trapped yourself in this, a deal you can't refuse. But being able to fuse Magatsu Izanagi is pretty cool though.
Yeah but you can get another true ending where adachi tips you off on the TRUE culprit and you still get magtusu through a letter where he tells Yu about the culprit and that he's turning himself in as well
MomoiroYuuki In that event, or if you choose any of the options it gives you like "Do Nothing" or "Just Kidding" the scene will end, and it plays the normal Bad Ending
This ending is so fascinating... I would have never imagined you could have maxed out the Jester arcana instead of the Hunger. Great addition on Atlus' part.
@@ryanslaier7161 I really hope it has a new True NG+ Ending... I was really dissapointed when I found out that I was getting the same ending twice without trace of anything different...

One of my fravorite things about this ending is that if you choose to do new game plus after this. Adatchis number stays in your key items like the other social link items. An eternal reminder of your betrayal.
Have to applaud to Atlus for actually going so far as to make an ending for all psychopaths out there. Not something every developer has the balls to do, even in role-playing games.
This is a funny alternate ending i thought of. Adachi: You destroyed evidence, that's a crime you know! Adachi: AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH Yu (Wearing a wire) Lol ikr, i'm so evil.
Branden Verhasselt Because you like that your choices contrast with the reality that you became a puppet for a murderer without remorse. The 2nd coming of a Light Yagami.
