CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Frank (James Karen) shows Freddy (Thom Mathews) around the warehouse, including the freezer with the fresh cadavers.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Middle-aged family man Frank (Jim Karen) trains teenaged Freddy (Thom Matthews) for his new job at a medical supply warehouse. In an effort to impress and frighten his young charge, practical joker Frank reveals that the warehouse basement contains a cannister full of a mysterious chemical capable of bringing the dead back to life. It seems that the cannister fell off the back of an army truck during an accidental outbreak of zombiedom. Frank and Freddy unwittingly inhale the chemical and release it into the warehouse. Turning to the operator of a nearby crematorium for help in destroying the suddenly undead specimens that surround them, they unwittingly awaken the residents of a nearby cemetary just as Freddy's pals arrive to party amidst the headstones and wait for their friend's shift to end. Meanwhile, Col. Glover (Jonathan Terry) waits for the call that his missing chemical weapon has been unleashed.

Well apparently those skeletons weren't real skeletons like they thought because they were the only things that didn't return.. like hell, the slit dogs were real but not the skeletons!? 😭😭

Even most snobby reviewers claim this movie was fun "despite the bad acting". I don't get it. The acting is the best selling point. Everyone's acting is amazing to me from Frank, Freddy, Bert, Ernie, and the rest of the punk kids.

You have to remember this is 1985. Critics were harsh. I was 13 and I saw this in the theater. I was scared shitless. I wish I could go back!

Because a lot of it feels very improvisational/conversational, and there's a lot of double meanings at work all over the place. These two get so many turns a phrase and odd plays off each other. It's great.

It's the cadence of James Karen's speech. Like many actors of his generation, he knew how important speech was to the progression of a scene.

I love how they decided to have the cadaver hanging, rather than laying on a slab. The cadaver looks so eerie, so foreboding hanging. It looks physically more threatening, too.

I was a kid in the 80s and raaarely said rad. I used "bad" instead a la Mike Jax. I had older sibs who were popular at their HS. They had tons of friends over. They as teens used "bitchin" instead of rad. For example: "Van Halen is BITCHIN!" We weren't in the Valley, though. That's the key.

Liked this scene ! I think Frank is a very kind and helpful Uncle since he helped Freddy by letting him work at the place. And I think they get along so well. That’s the most reason why I like this scene, and nothing scary happened yet.

If you want a few stories, I used to work hazmat at a university that had a human anatomy lab. Nothing says interesting job like someone casually using a freshly extracted human femur to point at where they kept the used embalming fluid, or having to call your boss to say: Sorry, I'm gonna have to postponed the inspection. There's a detached human head on a gurney in here.

Part 2 is even better. This was the first movie in which the zombies eat brains. I have an action figure Tarman hanging on my wall now. I LOVE this movie.

thinking back. leaving the plot aside. why would frank be dumb enough to show freddie the tanks with the trioxin in them. like he knows the stuff is no good and even the boss said to avoid them. obviously if we're being realistic for a moment it was dumb to be goofing around the tanks anyways. or frank could've just shown freddie the tanks tells them they're dangerous and don't touch them. they just go back to the office wrap up work and go home. like it's so funny how the entire movie relied on the characters doing soething as dumb as hit the tank hard. lol

Cult film of the eighties, a zombie movie but let's say "sui generis" , a really horror but filled with black humor. It is difficult to effectively combine the horror and comedy genres, this film does it very well and is both disturbing and funny, always in the sense of black humor as already said. This movie have another great merit: the soundtrack. Really spot on, with both lively and atmospheric pieces, perfect for the gloomy setting. One scene above all that perfectly combines music and scene from the film is the legendary one of the crematorium, with the great actor James Karen and a song by the legendary Rocky Erickson.

I love the detail that they "usually get more inventory than this" and are "expecting a shipment on Monday" just makes you think about how much more dangerous the first Trioxin outbreak could have been if it were any other week.
