CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Frank (James Karen) tells Freddy (Thom Mathews) the real story behind "The Night of the Living Dead" and the chemical responsible: 245-Trioxin.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Middle-aged family man Frank (Jim Karen) trains teenaged Freddy (Thom Matthews) for his new job at a medical supply warehouse. In an effort to impress and frighten his young charge, practical joker Frank reveals that the warehouse basement contains a cannister full of a mysterious chemical capable of bringing the dead back to life. It seems that the cannister fell off the back of an army truck during an accidental outbreak of zombiedom. Frank and Freddy unwittingly inhale the chemical and release it into the warehouse. Turning to the operator of a nearby crematorium for help in destroying the suddenly undead specimens that surround them, they unwittingly awaken the residents of a nearby cemetary just as Freddy's pals arrive to party amidst the headstones and wait for their friend's shift to end. Meanwhile, Col. Glover (Jonathan Terry) waits for the call that his missing chemical weapon has been unleashed.

I bumped into James Carin in New York City on the street in 1989. I threw out a line from the film, 'Bert it's Frank.' He stopped, laughed and gave me the next line 'I think we have a little bit of a problem here.' I was so thrilled. and asked for his autograph. He wrote to me 'Better Brains For Better Living.' I should have taken his advice.

What a classic...funny and scary and awesome soundtrack. I watched it back in the 80's. It was uploaded onto RU-vid a few years ago before it was removed. Too bad.

If someone tells me such a story based on real events, I am gonna use my Death Star on the basement.

wouldn't that just create smoke that rises into the atmosphere, comes down as rain, and end up infecting the entire area?

"You mean the movie lied?!" As a Combat Veteran and a former VA volunteer, I can confirm, they have these cannisters in the basement. "Sssssshhhhhh."

So, basically.... This movie, pre-"Scream", referenced an actual movie to be a thing in it's own universe. Niceeeeee :3

Return of The Living Dead was meta-horror before Scream turned it into its own genre.

Instead of the TERRIBLE sequels we got after Return 2 and 3, we should have gotten a prequel of the events in the 60s where Tarman and the rest were contained in the VA Hospital "Accident"
