as a friend of a owner who had break ins, get some of those sliding metal bars to cover the windows and doors while you are closed now that you are storing product in the location.
RUDY, you should host occasional tournaments for "failed" TCG games! It would be hilarious to see people learn crappy games for the chance to win sweet prizes!
Well, to some extend it would have made a nice drama-lama video if say 3 to 4 months in a whole section came tumbling down ... but yeah, overal i'm glad he did too ^^
You asked what songs you should play on that radio? Here you go, here's a playlist to get started: "Little Timmy" - Time "Pound Town" - Breed "Hosedown" - Mumbo-Jumbo "Green Screen" - Broads "Summer 69" - El Floppy Tacos
Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra would be perfect music to listen to as creepy Rudy slides me a Dragon's Maze booster on the DL, we all know how hard it is to find those nowadays
This is amazing to watch the growth of your idea come to life! It is not a mess and keep us posted. Also do some pokemon for patreons and I may think about it ;P
I noticed the same thing; sorta missing the sleek look of long straight shelves from one end of the store to the other. Hopefully the addition of product on the shelves will mask the warping.
This is coming along great. But I feel a sense of impending doom with the shop getting closer and closer to opening. Like something really bad is gonna happen. Like, what if it's so successful Rudy actually has to work?
Rudy, the card shop i goes to used long wooden poles that fit in the space between the sliding back door and the sidewall of the glass display cases. It prevents someone from slowly sliding the door open from the top with their fingers and snatching some goods, downside you need to bend over each time to pick up and put the pole back in.
Love me some Rat Pack! But surprisingly, my favorite card shop music has been soundtracks, either fantasy movie tracks for atmosphere playing magic, or my favorite, the Inception soundtrack that is almost a subconscious feeling of spacey craziness!
It's a shame too, because Dragonball Z was an awesome CCG back in the early 2000s. I fondly remember playing in tournaments and trying to deck myself to get all the dragonballs in my namekian deck. It never worked.
Rudy, I used to own a card shop and a big discussion I heard amongst my dwellers was whether or not a store allowed customer-to-customer cash exchanges in the store. They mentioned many shops in the SoCal area were split on their trade/buy/sell rules inside of the place of business. The lesson I personally gathered from all that was the customer will be driven out of the store just because of the stores rules. Therefor let them make some money doing deals in the shop, then keep them in there to spend it and give it back to you. I understand the volume of the store's merchandise will dramatically influence this decision, you don't want Timmy selling all his stolen desirable cards for $2 less then you, in front of a case full of them. Would love for you to shine some light and your opinion on this. Have a great one bud! - Nick
I totally support the notion to play Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin 24/7. Most card shops are awkwardly quiet on weekdays, so the music would be a nice bonus for customers. Not to mention if you add classy music, it would really enhance the atmosphere and give off a vibe of higher quality all around.
Whats your measurement of the slatwall from the floor up? Are you starting it out at 4ft? Also where do you go to get your slatwall and your showcases, I am interested for when I start to open my shop up. Also, those tables behind your showcase, are they are going to be permanent and what size are they? Thanks rudy
MEP Engineer here chiming in. I am unfamiliar with your local laws and I could not your ceiling well enough to know if there are sprinkler heads(it doesnt look like you have any). That would mean storing stuff that close to the ceiling is not recommended, especially over a return grille. Store is looking great!
Loving the cardshop life videos. Looking for more practical information / Tips about opening and operating a cardshop/store please and thank you. Love you long time.
to everyone talking about the warped plastic shelves. once product is on them they will flatten and you won't notice it. plastic is pretty malleable and it will be fine once loaded
As much as I would love to see the card shop, I don't think I'll be able to come by, I'm in Seattle. It looks great though and I definitely support the idea of playing Sinatra! Good luck with the rest of the project!
the trapping of the odor comes from the card board it naturally absorbs moisture and scents and it also has a funky smell from its travels before getting to you cardboard boxs and cards tend to trap a lot of smells from the air. could of been a guy that came in to the shop a month ago smelling like cheese + balls well that now is apart of your shop lol just how it is.
Rudy!!!! recently received some counterfit Dark confidants from ebay. ill send you one what is the address? plz show it on a video so more people don't get hosed
Are you going to do a video of your amonkhet opening summaries like you used to do pre-kaladesh. Even just seeing what invocations and foils you opened would be sweet
As for those chairs, they look nice, but very large people totally destroy them. Our store went through those like crazy. When people twist and lean back on them they don't hold up very well.
Rudy, if you got room to turn your black displays in front of the counter 90 degrees, you get a better view of what's going on a the playing tables, which you might want.
Rudy, order a quaternary ammonia dispenser from the restaurant supply store and put it in the bathroom. Teach your employees how to use it so they can wipe down all the tables and chairs everyday. #BlackChairsSoClassy #SanitaryTacos #WillBusTablesForBoosters #QuatTestStrips
can you provide links on where you bought your tables, chairs, cabinets, walls etc? The black tables and chairs are such a sexy color. Also can't wait for the official launch!.Thank you! :)
I've wanted a Gaea's Cradle since I first got into magic. I was a broke college student and they costed 120 bucks. Now that I could spend 120 the Legendary Rule change pumped up the price to 250 and I just can't trust that I'm gonna get a real Cradle.
