The old gods in game of thrones and a song of ice and fire are strange and dark. Now their greenseer bran stark is the king. But is that a good thing? Or is King bran the broken the work of a plot for revenge by the children of the forest? Is King Bran Evil? I make the case. You decide.
It would seem the pact between the first men and the children of the forest that resulted in them worshiping the old gods had some strange clauses in it. Clauses which are no longer being followed. This could lead to the children of the forest bringing the forces of nature down on men across Westeros and establishing their green seer Brandon Stark as the king.

This is a George R R Martin story. He's not gonna have the story just be Bran goes to the children and blood raven and gets powers and saves the day. From what I've heard about the history between the children and humans its very clear that the children would want revenge against the humans and not help them and now they have Bran who is capable of going inside the mind of a human being. If the children aren't using Bran to enslave humanity I would be surprised.

George wrote sci fi before he wrote fantasy and several of his works have hive minds, including one where they win a war by tricking their enemies into adopting their religious practices.

So the children were basically worshipping demons, they found it powerful so they converted everyone to that demonic religion, and the Starks are pretty much just devout demon worshippers. It makes sense that Bran got possessed and consumed by the evil tree spirits, and makes sense how their lives were used and thrown away by the evil tree spirits for their own purposes. So much more dire and depressing when you put it that way.

Demons is exaggeration. It’s just forces of nature. Primitive and primordial powers

That's a very black and white view of morality. All is fair in love and war the children of the forest were slaughtered. Is it evil because it's magic and not steel that being used to fight a war?
@amaracrow0501
@amaracrow0501 8 месяцев назад
Or they had been slaughtered and had their homes and lands taken, their sacred trees cut down ...it's all perspective. To the children, the humans are evil, they aren't breaking the rules of nature and mind raping people, BRAN, the human is doing it. They are seeking retribution against the people who refused to cooperate and slaughtered giants and almost wiped out their people. That's genocide. The people enslaving Africans thought that the old gods they worshiped are demons. Almost all the demons listed in the Goetia are just pagan gods called evil because they aren't the god the conquerors worship. Man from their perspective? are the evil ones.
@williamhermann6635

I dont see it this way. The children are the symbol for nature in this story. They only began using their powers aggressively in self defense symbolizing nature defending itself against the terrors of man.

Now you’re missing out entirely on the genius that is GRRM’s writing. What exactly is “evil?” You can’t just dismiss the children as “demons” when their motive is to preserve the world around them. Sure, to a modern human their practices may be disturbing, but that’s just the way it is for the children. For all characters, we get their POV, every action, thought, it has a reason. And a lot of them oppose others, but it’s never as simple as just “good” or “evil.” That’s the brilliance of this entire franchise.

Why Howland Reed went to the Isle of Faces to hone his magic and then conveniently leave the isle,go to Harrenhal to meet The Starks,and be with Ned and help him with baby Jon at the Tower of Joy...how convenient Howland.

Would be an interesting ending, the Children finally getting revenge on Humanity.

Last time they ended a war they tricked humans into worshiping trees they used to spy on them. This time they tricked them into electing one king.

Michael Talks About Stuff wish they had done this, but imagine if the Raven/Crow is the one really controlling the Others/White Walkers, their puppet leading their weapon. Could’ve been a big “holy crap” twist.

@@johnmichinock752 Yea I can't decide if they are actually fully controlling them but it is certainly possible considering the children made them. I can say they definitely aren't taking the best actions to stop them with minimal damage. At least with how it went in the show...

Michael Talks About Stuff yeah, that’s the issue as you say, we see in season 6 a Walker and wights killing COTF. Aside from that; I would say that the reason NK killed Bloodraven was because the Crow/Raven commanded him to do so, this body was dying anyway and uploaded into a new younger body.
@michaeltalksaboutstuff
@michaeltalksaboutstuff 5 лет назад
@@johnmichinock752 I like that reason for killing bloodraven, and yea the killing the children in the show is honestly the only thing that makes me think that evil bran wasn't fully implied. But then again there are even more logical flaws if bran was supposed to be a good guy.

If they can summon waters, floods, etc. could they have used water flooding to contribute to the building of the wall, meaning sea water from east watch through the underground root system beneath the wall, hence, "Salty" water. Fresh water is not salty.

It would also tie this into the Wall theories about some children cooperating with the First Men through mutually assured destruction. The children were never of one mind on this - some favoured total war at the risk of annihilation, some sought a truce.

The Children ruling & taking revenge via Bran aside, I'm totally blown away by your theory regarding The Others, The Pact, and what caused their return! So good! It fits what we know from the novels, is narratively plausible, and has been braided through in precisely the ways GRRM usually hints at his larger design. IMHO you should definitely make a video focusing on and expanding upon this. The babies down wells, right of First Night, on and on...A++. In addition to the whitewashing of Bran & Tyrion, surprised you didn't mention Jon Snow. Would like a video regarding your thoughts & any theories about Jon. Is he a prophesied hero or PTWP? How does Ghost & the other direwolves tie in with the 3ER & The Children? Subbed!
@michaeltalksaboutstuff

Glad you enjoyed it and subscribed. I think I agree that the pact and the babies in the wells probably does deserve its own video. I will put that on my to do list. Got a few theories I want to do write ups on and see what people think. Pretty busy these days but you can expect occasional videos from me through the fall and then probably more regular in the winter when my life is a little less hectic. About A song of ice and fire as well as lots of other things I hope people will find interesting. Also if there is ever an official announcement for the next book I will no doubt fall back down deep in the asoiaf rabbit hole and that will probably take the channel back over completely for awhile. As far as jon in the show I agree he was also a huge whitewash. I honestly would have to probably sit back down and fully rewatch season 8 at this point to try make sense of if there was anything to any of the prophecies in the show. I think they were mostly ignored. In the books if it goes that way I could see the prophecies also being vague and not lining up one person to a roll in the prophecy. But I think they will impact how the characters act and we will see the internal monologue and know how they are driven by them and I think that will make it more satisfying. Even if the prophecies don't exactly end up being fulfilled. Personally I would say Jon being the prince that was promised and the hero who stops the long night is the way it will play out in the books. But at the same time I have no idea how that would be handled with a dark bran the way I think GRRM is setting up. Should be very interesting. Also the direwolves are for sure being used by bloodraven to influence the starks and drive their actions. Bran doesn't get north or back without his wolf and ghost is likely how Jon will survive the end of the last book. Nymeria will also play a roll I'm sure in GRRMs end game. Shaggydog is probably actually just a shaggydog.

People can support Daenerys Targaryen's bid to retake the Seven Kingdoms after her family lost them but the Children of the Forest (hive mind 'Bran') gets hate when they take back the lands that humanity stole from them?
@abhishankpaul
@abhishankpaul 8 дней назад
There is no "You go girl" narrative of Daenerys or fire breathing flying dragons on Children's side, that's why. People love to burn others as it looks more chaotic while freezing occurs gradually and steals away the life in an ordered fashion. Bloody simps have just ruined the grey areas of the story and made discussions near impossible

There’s a reason why everyone who meets the Children tried to exterminate them. The problem couldn’t have been that Humans needed more land to expand towns and agriculture because there are still plenty of caves and deep forests where the Children could have lived. The type of land they lived on was useless to Humans, yet they still it necessary to go into there places in order to hunt them down.

I theorize the reason why The Three-Eyed Raven wanted Bran Stark to know everything was so that he could rule the Seven Kingdoms as king. Knowledge is power.

The novels have a character known as the “Night’s King” who is totally different than the show’s “Night King”. These two characters are completely different. For instance, the Night’s King might have been human, but the Night King is made out to be king of the others. Two entirely different entities…

Its not intended in the show but only way to tie all things is an explanation where this creature in body of Bran is mastermind behind it all from the beginning -the long night, night king, the white walkers, the lord of light, prophecies etc. He manipulated events and people with his powers or just illusions through fake visions so he could create pretext to take over when he lures body of a suitable royal, escape imprisonment behind the wall and in this body be accepted as a king of 7 kingdoms. Nature of this creature is also not explained in the show so you can just speculate. (there is no mention of Bloodraven and in the cave he specifically said he has waited for "1000 years" way before Bloodraven time). Same goes for his true origin. Was he created by children of the forest or was he the evil they fought in ancient war and created night king to trap him. Or something else.

Look at what Bran is willing to do to Hodor, imagine what he’d be willing to do for a “greater good”. Once Hodor’s confirmed then pretty much every death in the show within Bran’s lifetime, falls on Bran. The boy lives in a single changeable timeline; and we can only assume what we’re reading is his plans coming to fruition. You might disagree with the word Evil, but he’s certainly gonna be unattached.
