man, this was a *good* audience!! they laughed at everything! I love Christine Ebersole. Bitch get's a standing ovation just for walking out on stage. I just saw her in Blithe Spirit. She was phenomenal.
I saw the show various times pre-Tonys. The audience was blown away every time upon seeing Christine as Little Edie for the first time. Thanks so much for posting these amazing vids.
Didn't she get a standing ovation at the top of Act II every night? The audience did this on both of the bootleg's I've seen. Makes me regret not seeing it live.
I'm not surprised by the ovation. Her performance had the off Broadway production sold out, which just proved that this needed to be moved to Broadway. I am only sad i got to see it just once in person. :( I hope to god she brings it to London. I would plan a whole trip around seeing it.
In a world saturated with so many different graphical mediums... Theater remains the pinicle and the standard that all others will forever be held to. ;) Thanks for the upload, I was looking for something else, but hey, this is cool.
thanks for this Man I wish this would come to London - preferably with Ebersole but it doesnt look likley now : ( It was a great show - i dont undersdtand why it didnt run for years on Broadway and then in the UK
agreed! And I hope you don't think the actress Christine Ebersole) is disrespectful! She did a fabulous job on this piece of art and was faithful to who Edie Beale was, in my opinion.
are you sure? this kinda seems like it has to have been the first performance after the tonys...or the last show or something. in any case, it's incredible. ebersole was beyond brilliant...the best performance in a musical since, and possibly including, jennifer holiday in dreamgirls.
@tadzio999 that's what a New York audience is like. I'm sure she doesn't a problem with the clapping. Her performance was magnificent and that's exactly why the audience was reacting. It would've been worse if her performance was so terrible that she didn't get any laughs...
Although I think she is a wonderful, wonderful actor and would have killed to see this production, I couldn't sit through a performance with such an irritating audience. God, stop congratulating yourself with copious amounts of laughter for recognising parallels between the lyrics and your modern lives.
