Just a complete ride from the moment your hire van was actually there.. race…scenery…PRICES!…things to do…volcano erupting faces..probably the loveliest 15 mins of my day.. Icelandic Tourism should sponsor your van.
That's the most Lauf forks I've seen at an event, understandably so. ;) I can also see now why an Icelandic bike company developed that fork. All the washboards!
Miss Maddy, ELVES are real. Big difference from Kenya. Who would of thought that you would need swim fins on a gravel race? Thank you once again for a fantastic video.
Well done Maddy! 🎉 Came for the gravel race: stayed for the scenery, erupting volcanoes, whales and vicarious touristing. (Nearly left at the smashed up lady bit talk but decided to take the rough with the smooth so to speak 🤣 )
Brilliant content Maddy, I think they should be made grow more trees and shrubs for us cyclists personally, no place to hide if you need a pee. Great result again 👏👏😁
I was thinking at the time what on earth are women supposed to do if they need to pee mid race 🤣 the men didn’t seem to care about lack of shrubs and were pulling over literally on the course.
When I remember, I owe you big thank you , I had a tub of egg fried rice a couple of hours before a 60 miles sportive a couple of weeks ago, what a difference in the amount of energy I had. So thank you oh wise one 😁😁
@maddynutt - I'm racing the Rift 2024 and have never been to Iceland. Regarding kit and layers, do you have any recommendations for what to wear besides the obvious of wool socks? Thanks so much for the commentary and capture. 👍
I’d bring a mix of kit and test it out in the days before the race! But I wore long sleeves last year. I didn’t wear overshoes because it’s actually easier to let your feet just dry after the crossings. But it wasn’t super cold!
@@maddynutt Race day 2024 was epic and sunny! It was an event I will never forget. It took a few days for my bottom end to recover from the miles of washboard roads. 😆 Thanks for your feedback and the video - now that I've ridden the course, it was fun to re-watch your video to now know what you were referring to! Keep up the great content and racing.
Maddy I like all of this Iceland stuff except for the gravel and sand … :) jk. You really turned up the meter on things to do in Iceland after a bumpy ride. My friend at the bike shop did this last year, he actually used my bike case for it. He said it was a tough race however the scenery was amazing. He visited a punk rock museum there as well. Great job on the race and exploring. I’m going to do this race with a suspension fork 👍. “Smelly girls in Iceland” you did it right!
Definitely would recommend a suspension fork!! Would make the whole race so much more enjoyable :) Ahahah we did utilise hot springs as showers a few too many times
That looked like an amazing trip, Maddy. And another great vlog with fantastic content on the race, well done on finishing it with a very credible 11th place. After my trip to Mexico, thanks to your last vlog, now I will have to plan a stopover in Iceland on the way home🌋🙃 Coffee in the post…..
It was 7th! I just said it very quietly ahaha. Thanks so much :) honestly Iceland was maybe one of my favourite destinations so far…and that volcano!! Thank you so much ☕️☺️
That was amazing to watch! Such contrast to the live-filled Kenya. And who's to say Elves aren't real? P.S. Love the Maddy serious face shots from the guy's back camera!
Great result and video. That was a very hard course. The washboard was unreal and i felt shattered the next morning. Where was that geothermal hot tub?
That volcano 🌋 as been going on since last year Maddy hasn't stopped once... Great vid , seen a few vids on gravel racing, as I'm thinking of doing some casual Gravel events, I've been mixing some of my riding from mountain biking and gravel biking, so my mojo is wanting to do some gravel biking... Fingers crossed I'll get some events in... Keep the vids up, and I've just subscribed 😁👍😎🚴🚴🚴
Great vlog of Iceland gravel race and road trip. Looked super hard with that gravel ,sand, those river crossings and steep climbs. Well Done Miss Maddy Nutt with 7th Female and annoying for you with your saddle coming loose. Poor Amira with her race suffering with back problems. Well Done Ribble Collective. Iceland has no trees and just like the Shetland Isles, because of strong winds. Iceland has little elves.? Shetland Isles has little ponies so they can live with the strong winds.!
Yes the sand was completely unexpected and the lumpy bars were so rough ! Think we were stuffing our faces at Gallery Pizza when you guys were deciding whether or not to have banana pizza or not - great video and we did secret lagoon and Reykadular hot river too - great video!
