During my trip across Tasmania with Tyler Thompson. We took on the Willematte Creek Track, where I flicked up a log into my guard & dented it. I have always wanted a bonnet entry snorkel & so with the opportunity presenting itself by finding a guard with no snorkel hole I decide it's finally time to give the Patrol some loving with some new parts.

I've owned a GQ since 2002 and my Father had a '92 that I used to drive as a young fella... I've just learned more about the vacuum system in 10mins than I have in 30 years! Keep up the great work Timmy!! 😎👍

I’ve been watching you on Tyler’s channel for a bit but never ended up checking yours for some reason. But I’m glad I did mate. So good to see someone who’s doing stuff in his own back shed but still doing it right with all the engineering. I’m not even a Nissan man as I’m an old cruiser guy but still awesome to watch mate. They’re pretty simple to fix if yours isn’t working haha, can only really be the needle mechanism, mines flicked over to the right before and just swapped one out of another cluster, or it could be the sensor wires broken somewhere, seen that too fixed it with a crimp! Get under it and have a suss! Yeah super quiet in the cab dude tbh, cheers mate 👍🏻

@@timmyhasheart yeah I’ve been messing about with mine. Dry solder so resoldered it and got a few months out of it. GQ parts seem to be a bit thin on the ground in Tas lately!

Nice vid Timmy. Can I ask what you put on the new alternator electrical connector prior to you clipping it in. Was it grease or some other product to make it easier to disconnect?

Yeah dielectric grease, yes it does make it easier to disconnect but also it’s a bit of protection against corrosion and debris and water getting in. It’s essentially sticky WD40, won’t arc out. 👍🏻

Do you put the plastic inner liner back in the guard or leave it out?

Na I leave it out, it ruins the door hinges pretty quick but that’s alright, I don’t mind replacing them haha. You could do what Kistler does though he just has a single bit of rubber around it which looks good.

Yeah righto, if you’re happy to wait I was gonna do a video on the cars life, from where it started years ago until now which I’ll include the motor and what’s going on with it. But if you’re just keen to know what’s bolted up it’s an Arashi 18g and a UFI pump 👍🏻
