The way you apologised made me realise how some people treat horses as a vehicle rather than a friend. Horse's are a gift, we don't deserve them.

Just a little random tip for anyone seeing this ! If your cantering and it’s too fast and your horse won’t slow down don’t panic I saw a girl who was cantering and the girl screamed so loud (it was a normal canter) and the horse got spooked and it went crazy and she fell off (she’s ok) but the moral of the story is stay calm horses don’t like screaming

My horse refuses to longe on line and round pen also ,point ask hit the ground with stick ,just stands there ,!!?
@stevenbertrand8508
@stevenbertrand8508 3 года назад
soooo... I hate this part... I use the stick with a string... My steps are this... Point, cluck, whip the ground at the feet, and spank. Both my horses have been spanked when the first three steps do not work. After ones I have never needed to again. I use to feel really bad but I have also seen horses bite and kick the crap out of each other so I guess my little string is not going to hurt them that bad... Start it first with no rope but just in the round pen. Only give each command ONCE... if you keep doing it over and over before the next step they will think that is the answer. And you dont want them to think that. So try this... Point, wait for 3 sec, cluck wait 3 sec (I always give them some time to think) whip the ground, (make sure your stick and string make the whoosh sound) wait 3 sec. Is still nothing spank them on the behind. Make sure it makes the whoosh sound. Also make sure you are standing behind the drive line of your horse. Hope that helps.

Great video... Not sure how it took me so long to find this one... I for sure prefer this method and it has been one I have been using because I "even as a noob" thought the other way was too much. I also liked the comment at the end. "your horse does not want to throw you" Last year my young green broke philly threw me... But it was my fault... I had the cinch too tight... she bolted on me with out one of my feet in the stirrup and I got thrown.... and boy did she feel bad for it... once I was able to stand up and take a seat on the hay trailer she cam right up to me and put her head in my lap as to say... "I'm sorry dad" She didnt even pay the hay any attention.

Love this video! Here's a test... when you're with your horse, suddenly move quickly. If they whip their head up/ away, they're afraid they're about to be "disciplined". They're not respectful, they're reactionary and anxious. Is it effective? Sure. Is that the relationship I want with my horse? Nope.

I want to thank you for your video! I am a life-long rider, trainer, and competitor but recently bought my daughter her first horse. An 11 year old arab mare. They immediately took to each other but I have a problem I NEVER had for any of my horses before, I have to board this one 10 min from my home. We are there daily and I will be doing all of her training but I really need some help here. I do not want to be that person that visits and because I cant just step off my porch to be with her throughout the day, I feel like this is why she is digging in her feet and refusing to be lead away from the other horses. Where are you located and is there any way I could email or speak with you??? I pray you answer this message.

The very best way to introduce anything scary to a horse is not to bring the object to the horse but to get the horse to go to the object.This is done by getting the horse to follow the object and use their natural curiosity.In your flag example in the video I would walk off moving the object and simply lead the horse somewhere. It’s foolproof,the hirse is always calm and never has to get “used” to the object. I started a lot of horses and this was foolproof with any horse.
