The Mogollon Rim extends for over 200 miles across the northern half of Arizona, rising to 8,000 feet. Along its edge runs a gravel road known as the Rim Road extending for about 30 miles. There are camp sights located at various points along the road. When at the top, the vista encompasses the largest contiguous strand of Ponderosa Pine in the US. This footage was shot in 4K with a Mavic Pro 2 drone on August 29, 2020 around sunset. We traveled to Payson, then north on 87 to the Rim. There is an exit to the park and you can take the Rim Road all the way to the 260. You don't need a 4X4, but it wouldn't hurt. The road is rougher near 87 and gets better as you travel along it. It runs very close to the edge of the Rim, so there are plenty of spots to stop. Breathtaking scenery and well worth the drive!
