I’m surprised you hadn’t picked up on the theme of “make a copy and pass it on” as the way of survival, I thought they explained it at the end of the first movie. She was guiding his hands on how to copy the vhs so it was technically him doing it, then he asks “who are we going to show this to?” This video is basically like a chain letter
I'm surprised they don't review notes or plot lines. I have a great movie & videogame memory but even I would review the plot of the previous movie I watched if I were a youtube content creator.
There was a 7-15 minute short called Rings on the ring two dvd. It goes further in depth about the copying to pass the curse along. It end right where movie two is about to start!
Oh yes, that short was great and honestly even scarier than the first film, lol. I'm honestly impressed that such a short film managed to scare me that much when I was young.
@@sadtitties222 It was the best parts of what makes these movies scary condensed into a short format which meant it didn’t drag. Wish more movies would do stuff like this. Even deleted and extended scenes are fun but they are scarce these days! 😞😂👍🏾
@@B-Dad I have Rings...i have the entire Ring series: The Ring, Rings, The Ring 2, and The Ring 3 (which is actually known as Rings but that's kind of dumb considering the short film was known as that).
I explained it in a comment under your "The Ring" video but I'm guessing you guys didn't see it. The reason why people survive Samara is because they make a copy of her tape and show someone else who then has to make a copy themselves and show it someone else as well and it keeps going from there. It's Samara's curse being spread. That's the whole idea of the tape. If you don't watch it, then copy it before seven days is up, you'll die. This is because Samara was able to survive seven days after being thrown down the well by her adoptive mother.
I'm glad you guys are appreciating this movie for what it is, since most people hated this (unlike Rings though, but I'll let you guys be the judge of that one). I've always liked this one, ever since I watched it when I was 8. And yes, some VFX may not hold up as much, but overall it managed to push the plot forward into a logical conclusion for the characters we've been rooting for. I'd argue this one is a bit scarier than the first one, especially the ending in the well, which gets my heart racing every time. Flaws notwithstanding, I think this is one of the stronger sequels of any horror movie.
So. Rachel survived because she made a copy and gave it her ex husband to watch. Aiden survived because Rachel made a copy by the end of the first film and gave it to someone else to watch. Thats why the start of this movie, he tried to make his gf watch

the most chilling scene in the The Ring 2 is when he's in the bathroom and he can see Samara behind him...always gives me goosebumps. there is a small film about how the tape got from the first film...to this one...but you need i think the special edition of the The Ring 1 & 2 for that. the problem with making a copy...is that sooner or later it attracts the wrong element...the wrong type of people...and that is who that boy was...he and his friends were like a small cult obsessed with the tape...they kept wanting to see what would happen if they pushed further...well...they found out (not a spoiler this happened before the film).
Interesting how this movie is less about the curse tape and more of a possession plot, it was a curious way to make the sequel, and we actually see some of Samara's personality because of this, just longing for a mommy
The did a third movie called RINGS, or THE RING Part 3, which was not well received by critics or fans, but it did make $83 million dollars, but it wasn't enough to garner a sequel to the franchise and it's likely that it was cancelled.
did you know The Ring (2002) is a remake of Ring (1998) which is thus the second adaptation of the 1991 novel “RING” by Kôji Suzuki. The Ring novel series has a total of 6 novels. Ring (1991), Spiral (1995), Loop (1998), Birthday (1999), S (2012) & Tide (2013)

Back in the mid-2000s, it was trendy for just about every horror movie - but ESPECIALLY PG-13 horror movies - to have an "Unrated Cut" released on DVD. A lot of the time they were pretty pointless and barely added anything. 'The Ring Two' is a rare example of a movie where the Unrated Cut is actually significantly different and much better. It's significantly longer and includes better music, improved special effects in some scenes, extra character development, and even some extra horror scenes. Nothing that would have gotten the movie an R rating, so calling it the "Unrated Cut" is still kind of a gimmick, but it's a really good extended edition. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be available to stream or buy digitally anywhere, and the movie still doesn't have a Blu-ray release here in the US at all, so it's only available in standard definition on the DVD. As others have mentioned, the director, Hideo Nakata, also directed the 1998 Japanese film that 'The Ring' was based on. In addition to that he directed two of the Japanese sequels, 1999's 'Ring 2' and 2019's 'Sadako,' as well. Nakata has disowned this movie, saying the studio and producers were basically in control the entire time and didn't let him do much actual directing. It's worth noting that despite the fact there were already multiple sequels to the Japanese movie by this point, 'The Ring Two' isn't based on any of them and goes in a completely different direction with an original script by Ehren Kruger, who wrote the first American movie's script (and 'Scream 3'). Ironically, the story of 'The Ring Two' has a lot in common with a DIFFERENT Japanese horror movie Hideo Nakata also directed, 'Dark Water' - and THAT movie also got an American remake which came out less than four months after 'The Ring Two!'
in the original japanese novels sadako (samara) is the daughter of a water demon/entity who impregnated her mother while she was swimming in the ocean. that’s why the character has such a strong connection with water and that’s why she has her powers. they also briefly hinted at that in this film.
Yeah in the first Ring movie they hint that Samara was created by unnatural means, I think this was retconned in Rings though, they changed the birth mother from Anna Morgan to Evelyn and changed Samara's origin
The sequels aren't as good as the first movie but I'm glad to see someone giving them a chance and reacting to this. They are okay and interesting to watch anyway, esp Ring 2 was directed by the same Japanese director Hideo Nakata as Ringu
animals can sense evil. the horses sensed it in the first one...just like the deers do now. if aiden is the only one that can see Samara...maybe there is a reason for that. Samara doesn't like water...it's the one thing she's afraid of; her mother tried to drown her as a child...and the well was where she actually died later. Samara is trying to use Aiden agaisnt Rachel, unfortunatley the fact that Rachel suffered post pardum depression has not worked in her favour. If anyone does wonder how Samara DOES eventually come back with a third Ring film...the answer is simple...time...time rots everything.
Yeah I remember when the rings came out people were automatically turned off on that then there were leaks people didn't like it came out in January and bombed and the company that put it out thought it bombed not cause it bad but because people didn't like horror movies no more so they cancelled all the horror movies they did for rest of that year including a Friday the13th I think it was going to be half a prequel telling about Jason's dad then showed mom killing then the last act was Jason it sounded so good and it was bacially done so why that was so frustrating lol
I honostly don't remember this one and I think it's because it is so much like other movies that I have seen and one that comes to mind is Dark Water though this one has a happy ending unlike that movie but still. It's not that there is a demon in Samara she just has a power that allows her to control people and she is herself evil as it were. you are right though she longed to be loved and for a mother who loves her in turn and because Rachel is the only one that cared enough to go looking for Samara and her body and cared enough to take her out of the place she was trapped she chose her and thus she took over Aiden...well that and aiden just has the ability to sense and see spirits so there is that as well. I don't like that they try and solve the mystery of the first movie because the reason why the first movie stays with me even now after so long is the unanswered questions and the shocking images and scenes as well like the part where the horse jumped off the boat and such. Good reaction guys as always. I personally didn't like the ring 3 but I would be curious what you both think of it none the less. I have not seen the original japanese versions though known as Ringo but they say they are more scary so I might check it out sometime.
right so Dark Water came first though I saw this one before that one but any way I just meant Dark Water had the same idea but it ended badly unlike this one.@@thehorrorarchive
@@jennysutton7409 I haven’t seen Dark Water (2005) but it looks disappointing tbh. I feel like they were trying to replicate The Ring (2002)’s success and despite me not liking The Ring (2002) compared to its Japanese counterpart, I do acknowledge it’s success as a remake. Dark Water (2002) is based on a story from Tales From The Dark Waters (1996) by Kôji Suzuki

Anyone see the old Simpsons Halloween with Bart & Hugo the conjoined twin? That's how I feel about this the twist ending is the boy is evil and Samara is just some random ghost with her problems

That's a lot of rings movies but I never watched sadako because I don't understand Japanese that much at all and plus it probably can't beat the American version of the ring movies
