also fanfictions mostly non profit. the writers write not for money. so as much absurd as they make it to be, the original's fans usually won't mind it too much. but this... 👀 they make it for money and fame, of course tolkien's fans will mind.

@@tama_ochi no, since even before AO3 got the lawyers in the writers very often have links to patreon and other donation methods and also many do 'private' commissions for money, and then there are the fanfic writers who've moved from fanfic (or dabbled to get attention) to being published authors just by disguising the serial numbers a bit and taken quite a bit of money that way. Many fanfic writers don't like the source material -- I used to know several and watched others - they move to whatever is most popular, mashing together other people's story ideas (generally with some added adult content if they want to be popular), and pasting on the relevant names. They're working for money and fame and to be talent spotted through 'networking' and I wouldn't be at all surprised if some haven't made it into script writing. The original fanficcer who just wanted to share their obsession with a particular series have been overwhelmed by these parasites. This started happening pretty much as soon as fanfiction became big on the internet.

Lets start using the term "hate fiction" for this kind of stuff. Seems to be ubiquitous for so many franchises and lores that are adapted now a day.
