He’s actually had a great career. For years, the Clippers got next but it just never manifested. He didn’t underachieve, he lived up to expectations.

Clippers Blake was a disrespectful player & one of the best dunker ever. He was so crazy at his position. so fun even to watch him. Injuries made him slow down. I miss him playing at his prime.

Bro did everything right: realized he’ll get injured often relying on athleticism that much and made an all time transformation and still ended up getting his career destroyed by injuries. Sometimes you can do everything right and still turn out wrong sadly

It's honestly sad and not something Blake could completely control. He even realized very early on in his career than his style of play would be unsustainable and put in work to transform his game. But still, he succumbed to injuries. I still remember how some people were saying he could rival Tim Duncan as the best PF of all time as early as his rookie season

In Blake’s prime he was such a good passer out of the post, it took his game to another level, and he was a joy to watch

Blake Griffin was the reason I became a basketball fan. It really made me happy that he tried to improve his game throughout the years. Ben Simmons should learn a thing or two from him.

He was the type of player that relied on his athleticism. Players like that tend to flame out when that athleticism fades. That and injuries have led to him being a shell of the player that he was!

I saw this coming. As someone who studied physical therapy in college and went through plenty myself as an athlete in high school and college, it was inevitable. You can’t keep jumping that high at his weight and not have you knees go sooner than later

I remember the 2009 draft. All the pundits were saying it was a 1 man draft and I think the Clippers were fined for saying the day after the lottery that they would take Blake. Lo and behold that draft also gave us Curry, Harden, DeRozan, Jrue Holiday and other solid players like Rubio, Ellington, Demare Carrol, Pat Beverly, Darren Collision , Patty Mills and Danny Green.

I think the Nets did this man dirty. I go to a good amount of C’s games and I love this guy. I was pumped to hear he got traded to the Celtics, and he’s doing what he was put on the team to do and the fans love seeing him. Blake has gone on record saying that the Celtics locker room is his favorite he’s been on and he’s having a great time on a great team. I’m glad he’s in Boston now.

I may not have used the word "fall" to describe the final stretch of Blake's career, I would have replaced it with "the natural course of an athlete's body". We are so used to seeing Lebron's constancy ( or Cristiano Ronaldo) of being at the top despite his age, that we easily forget that we are talking about humans with different features and moreover life goals. Blake did his best, blood, sweat, and tears are on the parquet, and with all his injuries, he has had enough. We'll always be grateful to him for what he did for the game and the narrative, Lob City baby!

Blake is my favorite player this generation. So fun to watch him rise up. But those injuries, man. Really held back his potential. If he was just healthy, it could just have been that small push they needed to get out the 2nd round. Lob city was fire to watch. Not just Blake and DJ dunks. But the entire team was fun to watch. You could see the plays coming yet the were, usually, pretty successful at them.

I think he had a good work ethic. The guy really worked hard to improve his game, something not every player is willing to do (say Ben Simmons). I feel bad for him, injuries suck.

I actually really like Blake, he’s humble enough to know his role nowadays, and he gives 110% every time he plays in BK. Hope Nash plays him more often, so fun to see “hard hat, steel tips” blue-collar mentality from Blake.

Blake is one of my all time favorite Sooner athletes and it just goes to show that no matter how good you are it's still REALLY difficult to win a championship in college or the NBA. The Clippers with him and Chris Paul probably should have won at least one but they lacked a few key role players plus they were going up against the Spurs and OKC with KD. He's had an incredible career and exceeded all expectations plus he's never gotten into any trouble that I know of other than punching that equipment manager.

Imagine being in the 1% of people able to dunk and the 1% of that who can dunk like Blake, then being told you’re not doing enough.

Most high flyers decline at some point. When the majority of your game is based on athleticism, u become more prone to injuries as your career progresses, and even if u don’t get injured often, other aspects of your game suffer because of your reliance on your athleticism, and you become more of a role player on the team if not a liability. A lot of high flyers have had to change their game to stay relevant in the league when that “check knees light” comes on

The thing is when we thought he was just all about muscle he proved to us that he's willing to learn and get smarter, and never drop the training side at the same time, just amazing career, definitely a great player which not always under the spotlight. Not tomention, he's humble as well😄

Blake peaked early it seems in a way. His first season was his best statistically going by points and rebounds. As his game got more polished, he declined in a few ways, especially a little bit with rebounding. He improved his free-throws and jump-shots tremendously. He passed better and learned to post up effectively. He became more injury prone. Being athletic and a little heavy, such as Blake, wears down the lower part of the body, specifically the knees. I think that at this point he is better off playing 15-25 minutes and trying to get in a little more decent basketball shape. I think that he was a quality draft pick. He reminded me of Shawn Kemp in some ways.

I don't see Blake as "fallen". He had lots of success, and might have some left in the tank. Also, he'll have a life after the NBA.

When I was a kid Blake got me watching basketball with his high energy dunks and explosiveness when he was a clipper that version of Blake was my favorite of all time and still is but father time is always a weakness and it's understandable.

Blake actually is playing well this year, he started slow but his #'s are trending back to last years. He's actually been hitting 40% from 3 over the past couple weeks.... and he dunks. Is he an allstar or superstar? No. But his defense is very strong and plays up to analytics.

Griffin's career doesn't warrent the phrase "rise and fall". He's been great, then he got some injuries, now he smoothly transit into a veterian role player who still can take a sizable role on a contender.

I loved this clippers team. Always got frustrated in the playoffs. Dont forget they got DJ too and needed him less in that roll

The only reason I do not like these kinda videos is this is what father-time does to all athletes. We tend to get spoiled by Lebron because he basically is doing what he did as a 21 year old. That is almost unheard of. Griffin is a hall of famer and he declined at the rate nearly every great NBA player declines at.

Blake’s dominant years with the Clippers is what I envisioned Zion would be like if he were healthy.

Great player and yet his career was oddly predictable. You had to know when he won that dunk contest and was jumping out of the building left and right with ridiculous throw downs on a nightly basis in 2011-2012 that this dude is gonna majorly injure his legs or back and have decreased hops and mobility and then unfortunately fade because the rest of his skills wouldn’t be enough to compensate. Make no mistake, he made a legit valiant effort to become a better shooter and playmaker - and he did improve in those respects a lot - but when you’re a big guy chances are that jumping out of the building with freakish ability like that is going to catch up you, and did. I was staring at this guy on tv in 2012 like “he’s gonna be grounded by 30 with injuries.” He reminded me of Larry Johnson as far as his transition to being a more ground based player after injuries too. Either way, I respect the impact he made on the game and his hard work to improve. Lob city is still missed.

He played bully ball style of basketball, which was really good in High School and College but that type of aggressive high intensity style of play fizzles out quickly in the NBA.

If you told me Blake wouldn’t be a hall of famer after his first few years I might tell you you were crazy. However, it’s very impressive he added the playmaking, handles, and shooting to his game. Imagine if he had a go to move in the playoffs!

I've followed Blake's career with interest. Dude was an absolute beast & for a few years was the most dominant player on teams that lacked the chemistry to win it. Being a Piston fan I loved his time in Detroit. Maybe not a good trade in the long run but for one season he was dominant & carried a shit team into the playoffs. The high flyer type players are the ones who flame out sooner. Too much wear & tear on the body. Hard to feel sorry for athletes that make millions from playing a game. They are lucky.
