Same. Funny how during my HS years I had these dreams that I would be this crazy exploit-researcher, coming up with various jailbreak methods and having my name up on the jailbreak community. But during my Uni days, through my CS course, I soon came to realise that it's a lot more practical to simply become a web-dev. And here I am, 1 yr into my first serious IT gig, working from a comfort of my home, as just another back-end dev. The low-effort and a high-pay lifestyle is just too comfortable for me to throw myself into something that actually requires an effort Xd(I.e exploit researching) P.S: I know remote work just one year in as a junior dev sounds crazy, but I managed to do it because I had an operation on my right foot after a bad fall, I'm basically fully recovered now, but our team-lead/boss said that since I had "a good work from home ethic", he's cool with me staying as a remote worker indefinitely.

I originally studied computer science when I began college (switched to audio production about halfway through; big change, I know). I had this cybersecurity class that required us to do a semester project, but it was very open ended, so me and this one guy decided to do our project on jailbreaking. For a big chunk of my research, I jailbroke my iPhone 7 and used it for the entire semester. I helped people out on Reddit, tried different combinations of tweaks, etc etc. Our paper was very well done, and when we presented to the class, we were tied for the class’s favorite presentation of the day… the teacher failed us (56/100) without a single mark on our paper and no comments on any of it. This teacher was in bed with Silicon Valley big tech, so I’m almost certain she did it just because she didn’t like it. Thanks for reading my story, random person on the internet. Apple never pays the bounty, there’s plenty of devs that have never been paid out with anything more than credit in the patch notes that nobody reads. @@PlatoonGoon "Say what you like, Android generally has worse UI than ios." Don't get shit android phones then. Besides from pixels, the only android i've ever heard of that have a bad/clunky ui are budget/chinese phones. I've been using Samsung phones for years and never had an issue. Right now I'm rocking a zflip3 and couldn't be happier. I haven't had any issue with my phone and I've seen thousands of people with the same phone or a samsung fold. " Android was designed for power users, while ios was for anyone" No android is designed to be open and accesiable where-as apple's design is to provide a "tailored experience". That's why jailbreaking exists, you had to hack your iphone to have the same level of accessibility of android. "pixel ui is still abhorrent with glitches and issues" Google pixels aren't THE android, there just one of thousands of companies making phones. Also, you can change the ui due to anrdoid not stopping you from doing that. " so there really are reasons to still use iphones." Not really, the only thing apple has is the "apple ecosystem" Anything else is just user preference.

Yeah :) i think it cud be where thers not as much real original programming and game design these days? Like maybe because people tend to use gui and tools rather than building their own engines and code from scratch it just stifles creativity?.. I think its all on purpose tbh because by making things really fenced in and controlled and overly simple it stops people really experimenting n by trial n error getting the hang of whats truly possible, like the freedom and access we had years ago was totally different experience than say android where you dont even have admin privelage by default like i think it was actually very mind expanding helped develop problem solving and lateral thinking to go thru the trial and error of sometimes learning what breaks your pc and what doesnt lol and learning html and C++ as opposed to using a game maker like unity or a pre made engine is a totally different skill level i see using these tools it becomes more like using the old elder scrolls creation kit or pumping out rom hacks kinda fing.. Plus the sheer amount of uploads these days means its so easy for things to go unnoticed (or be censored by your 'tailored search results')

@@ArthurBrassart Speaking of improving your editing skills, the VCR sounds is interesting. The duct tape transition not so much. As a general rule of thumb, people will put up with subpar video but not audio. That being said, if it was me I would use an EQ HPF -6dB roll off around 250hz (this removes the low droning sound from your low voice, some of us don't want our skulls rattled by headphones just listening to a talking head, take it as a compliment). This will give the narration more clarity. Then normalize audio at -9dbFS Sample Peak Program (General rule of thumb for dialog is keep it between -15 to -10dB) this is why -9dbFS (SPP) is default setting in Davinci Resolve, btw. Keep it up dude!

Great video man! I loved the content. One issue that I found myself feeling frustrated about was the animations for each chapter. I felt they happened to often… where each time you ran that animation, it’s about 13 seconds, and when I just saw it 3 minutes prior, it really felt like it took me out of the video. Other than that, I really enjoyed the video

I miss the jailbreak times. Apple made a mistake by actively killing the literal thinktank behind the best iOS features we have now. Once the apps market got way better on Android (2013-14), I moved to it just to be able to have my own custom phone instead of barely having different wallpapers. Although, Android as well has became closed and the root scene pretty much died unless you have very one of few devices. But it will take much more than iOS 18 to catch up lol.

Nah Android are always open source. You got wrong phone. Don't buy Samsung ever again!!!!! Get Google Pixel or Sony Xperia come with unlockable bootloader that let you install custom roms. Do not buy phones from att, T-Mobile, Verizon and any prepaid company. Buy your own android phone with no network carrier branded. 70% Android manufacturer and network carrier love to locked their devices so customers can't do much with it until exploit come out.

Great video! Back in high school I used to jailbreak iPod touches for people. A couple of soft bricks here and there but I always managed to fix them. I think a lot of the troubleshooting I did then is what lead me to a tech career. Favourite tweak back then was definitely Barrel so that the app pages always had different animations. Then there was installous which everybody wanted for obvious reasons 👀

Then choose a sound; - open the appstore without any unlocking... when leaving the appstore you could just enter the mobile phone, bypassing the seciruty PIN code... I think the FBI had opened the phone or could have opened it without any problems. just a moment after this disscovery that exploit was patched. probably you can find some videos of it on YT...

I was there back in iOS 4.0, Jailbreak was the epitaph of the iPhone. But Apple didn’t killed the jailbreak. They rendered it obsolete by taking everything users wanted and integrating it directly in iOS. Jailbreak can still be achieved, but the community isn’t there anymore not as the armada of developers we had back then. It was one of the greatest period of my life and I thank everyone who was involved back then

Love the premise of the video, but I definitely wanted more from the execution. Each of the chapters feel like they’re missing really interesting info. It really hit me when Chapter 4 ended so abruptly. There were a ton of super cool jailbreak tweaks back in the day, and there was even video clips of a couple of them. But there wasn’t any real explanation of what the tweaks were and why they were so cool, which would’ve added a lot of life to the video and helped us feel why that time was so special. Just a bit of feedback, hope to see what you cook up next!

I remember getting the third generation iPod touch and jailbreaking it. So many useful features came from jailbreak such as the Control Center stuff we have in stock iOS now. The thing about beating jailbreak is that not only they patched the security exploits, but they also copied some features which made regular people want to jailbreak their phones in the first place. Kinda like how Steam helped reduce piracy with good customer service.

Same, Cydia still has the blobs saved from when I jailbroke it with p0sixspwn. Jailbreak been a huge part of my childhood. My first iOS device ever been an iPod 2nd gen on iOS 4.2.1 , done the jailbreak with appsync installed , to get to install cracked apps . Then my first iPhone 3G in 2014 , when the look of iOS changed with iOS 7 , some developer launched a version of iOS 3.1.3 with all the tweaks from iOS 7 , which was mind blowing, it was designed to run on 2G/3G , iPod 1st gen , 2nd gen . Anyways jailbreak was cool , it was a flex back then to have an iPhone with endless pages of games and apps .
