Its just hit painful when you remember playing zuma on your windows 7 laptop back these days ..... I really miss popcap

I think this is insanely accurate from start to finish. I dont believe there was anything missed. (Also happy to see Chuzzle was at least acknowledged by someone else)

As sad as I am about their slight downfall, I'm genuinely happy they haven't been killed considering EA's bad habits of buying small companies, stealing their properties and shutting them down once they're no use to them anymore.

Battle for neighborvile did suck, but garden warfare 2 was actually pretty successful and made more money than the original garden warfare. GW2 actually still has fully populated servers to this day. Battle fir neighborvile’s servers are dead tho

you are right, Popcap is end a great era, but we need a return a great games, before EA.

I loved Popcap. Father showed me Pvz then loved it. After that I played Popcap games for 5 years in my janky laptop

To be fair garnden warfare 2 is actually an improvement over the first game since it has more characters more game modes an open world hub and a decent campaign although neighborville in the other hand yeah that one sucks

I like the format and charm of this documentary, and it definitely shows the history of PopCap in a cool way. Would love to see more indie documentaries in this style and more fleshed out in the future. Also, I personally like Plants vs Zombies 2 a lot, mostly because I grew up on mobile games instead of PC. I have a lot of memories and hours in the game, which probably explains my bias.

There are a lot things I disagree with that you mentioned, like Pvz2 & GW2 being bad.. but aside from that pretty nice video thumbs up!

Why they cant be like Polyphony Digital, the developer of Gran Turismo games. Owned by Sony. They evolve their skills a lot, with new and old talented staffs and colleagues. They love their work since the very beginning. They dont rush and dont apply the development cycle, they take as much time as they like to make a next game. If they decided to delay their game, thats fine, it helps them to repolish their game even more and add more and more content too. Thats what made Polyphony Digital better than Popcap Games. Better management structure without being interfered by the publisher.

Such a shame to think about what PopCap has become. PvZ2 is especially a failure these days. They just keep updating it, with bad changes coming each update. By the way, I think PvZ BfN is solid. Removing variants was a good choice to me, as the number of variants in the GW games kinda made you need to grind coins. Plus, variants kinda eliminated reasons to use the main characters. I can't remember a second that I wasn't playing as Fire Pea or General Supremo in GW2.

Zuma isnt original and unique, in fact, its a ripoff of a game called puzloop which is basically the same game mechanics while bejewele a little bit original with the powerups such as the fire gem which is made using 4 gems, and candy crush decided to copy it

I know I’m late, PVZ was my Childhood Game, I was born in 2008 A year before PVZ 1 was created, I played it in 2015 It was my childhood Game Before EA came I dint know what was EA at first, But when I found out And I see PVZ 2 was created I downloaded It when I saw EA before the game started I Feel so angry........I have completed Both games In 2020, It was fun But I need a lot Of PRENIUM plants, Man I just Wish EA never existed If EA dint exist = PVZ2 WONt be so hard

PVZ 2 was ok, it was definitely a step up to the og one, not a big one but it's noticeable. i love how they made neon mixtape tour with it's ass slapping music and gimmicks (RETRO ZOMBIES.) and modern day (md's bosses suck though), the shadow plants are a unique concept. my problem with it is the hard as duck worlds like big wave and jurrasic marsh, the plants that are unbalanced like lightning reed, magnifying glass, celery stalker and red stinger, and the not so bad but no so great art

I agree that pvz2 was very lacking for me, but I don’t think pvz gw2 deserves as much hate. While I don’t think it’s better than the original, I still think it’s a good game. They added some new good features like backyard battleground and the little campaign like missions. While I don’t think the pvp maps are as good the original, I think they are still decent and the game is overall good. BFN seemed like an experiment type of game that didn’t really work out. The reason I think most people didn’t like it was because of the drastic changes to the game from garden warfare games. While I don’t like it that much, I don’t think the game deserves as much hate either.

having played the two mobile games first but not finding the shooter games until 2001 with BFN, then playing them in reverse order, I totally disagree. playing BFN now with 20 friends I made playing this game. The feel and gameplay are better than both GWF.

I disagree, pvz2 was a great game. It was not as good as the first but was still fun and was faithful to the first one. It added new plants, new zombies, and new mechanics without changing anything that made the first game good. (Besides microtransactions). And I STRONGLY DISAGREE with your statements on GW2. It is a great game better than the first in nearly every way. It was received with great praise and got several years of additional content. The servers are quite active to this day, while the GW1 servers are kinda dead (still active, just not as much). But yeah, bfn sucked

Popcap unlike Rare missed their 2nd shot completely. Garden Warfare felt alienated, but Rare's Kazooie Nuts n Bolts had a charm AND recent Battletoads. Some way to win back the audience, just slim having blown it sadly with EA likely having them by the throat.

Popgames were childhood perfection, i wish the company didn't go to EA and got ruined.
